  • The cold-rolled steel sheet for automobile is liable to corrosion, and will be painting in a variety of ways for the anticorrosive. This paper was coated on cold rolled steel (SPCC and SPFC590) for automobiles using five kinds of organic/inorganic hybrid solution. This was evaluated corrosion resistance and so on by the salt spray. Corrosion area was less according to increasing of curing time in 2 types of steel plate with 5 types of the coating solution. No.1 solution was showed the best corrosion resistance regardless of the kinds of the steel sheet. It is judged that the melamin hardner had the role of bridge between $SiO_2$ polysilicate and urethan resin. Other properties were excellent in all solution.

  • The water quality in eutrophic lakes is affected by serious problems, such as abnormal increasing of Cyanobacteria. The purpose of this study was to investigate the possibility of a modified flotation system using a hybrid technique formed by chemical compounds and an electrostatic bridge. Therefore, experiments using the hybrid technique were performed to measure the zeta potential value on the phytoplankton surface and the removal efficiencies of phytoplankton, ammonia nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen and phosphoric acid. The results were as follows: Firstly, the zeta potential of M.aeruginosa was observed to approach charge neutralization due to adhesion of magnesium hydroxide precipitate on the phytoplankton surface in the pH range 10.5 to 11. Secondly, the concentration of chlorophyll-a decreased from about 150 to 20${\mu}g$g/L, with a maximum removal efficiency of 84% due to coagulation with pH values higher than 10. Thirdly, the N$H_4$-N concentration was observed to decrease from 0.62 to 0.54mg-N/L (13%), and the P$O_4$-P concentration, which is a limiting factor to the formation of algae blooms, decreased from 0.27 to 0.02mg-P/L (92%). These findings suggest that the modified flotation system can be applied for the purification of the raw water of numerous lakes containing high phytoplankton populations and elevated pH.

  • A new devised conductivity meter was used in the rapid and convenient determination of salt contents of soysauce and margarine. The equation $(1){\sim}(5)$ was set up between the electric conductivity (x) for 100 times diluted solution of soysauce and the salt contents (y). y=0.083x-1.253 $(at\;15^{\circ}C)$ (1) y=0.077x-2.062 $(at\;20^{\circ}C)$ (2) y=0.071x-2.686 $(at\;25^{\circ}C)$ (3) y=0.066x-3.153 $(at\;30^{\circ}C)$ (4) y=0.062x-3.522 $(at\;35^{\circ}C)$ (5) y=(-0.001139t+0.0999)x+(-0.126t+0.557) $(temperature\;range;\;15{\sim}35^{\circ}C)$ (6) y=salt contents [%], x=conductivity $[{\mu}{\Omega}^{-1}{\cdot}cm^{-1}]$, $t=temp.\;[^{\circ}C]$. The salt contents could be estimated by the equation $(1){\sim}(6)$ and the measured conductivity. The estimated salt contents agreed with that determined by conventional method within 0.27[%] as salt contents. For margarine, the equation (7) was setup between the conductivity (x) and the salt contents (y) y=0.00266x+0.057 $(at\;20^{\circ}C)$ (7) y=salt contents [%], x=conductivity $[{\mu}{\Omega}^{-1}{\cdot}cm^{-1}]$ The salt contents estimated with the equation (7) and the measured condutivity agreed with that determined by conventional method within 0.028[%] as salt contents. The electric conductivity obtained with conductivity meter could be a valuable criteria salt contents test of Korean soysauce and margarine determining in a few second or minute by handy compact portable meter.

  • The cyclophanes 1a-d containing two benzo[b]furan rings connected by various bridges have been prepared and their binding behaviors with N-benzylphenethylammonium cation 2 were examined by NMR titration method. The successive alkylation reactions of 4-hydroxyl groups and then 2-hydroxyl groups of 2,4-dihydroxybenzophenonse gave macrocycles 5a-c. Photoirradiation of the macrocycles 5a-c with 350 nm mercury lamp followed by dehydration afforded the cyclophanes 1a-c. Hydrolysis of two ester groups pendant on a bridge of 1b produced the carboxyl group-containing cyclophane 1d. The cyclophane 1a having a p-xylene bridge showed 1 : 1 binding with 2 with the binding constant of $36{\pm}6M^{-1}$ in 3 : 1 $CDCl_3$/methanol-$d_4$ solvent, while 1b and 1c which have neutral flexible bridges exhibited no appreciable binding with 2. The disodium salt of 1d showed much higher binding affinity for 2 forming 1 : 1 and 1 : 2 complexes.

  • It is known that chloride ion in concrete destroys the passive film of reinforcement inside concrete and accelerates corrosion which is the most influencing factor to durability of concrete structures. In this thesis, a chloride ion diffusion model for blast furnace slag(BFS) concrete, which has better resistance to both damage due to salt and chloride ion penetration than ordinary portland cement concrete, is proposed by modifying existing model of normal concrete. Proposed model is verified by comparing diffusion analysis results with both results by indoor chloride penetration test for specimens and field test results for actual RC bridge pier. Also, the optimum resistance condition to chloride penetration is obtained according to degrees of fineness and replacement ratios of BFS concrete. As a result, resistance to chloride ion penetration for BFS concrete is more affected by replacement ratio than degree of fineness.

  • By applying the newly developed techniques of polymer impregnated concrete (PIC) severely deteriorated and low quality concrete can be restored to an adequate structural material. Early deterioration of concrete causes severe problems for bridge deck concrete, pavement concrete for highways and airports, hydraulic structures and buiilding structures. Deterioration has its orgin in cracks on concrete surface, scaling of spalling due to freezing and thawing, neutralization of concrete, penetrations of water, salt, and calcium chloride. The objective of this study is to develope the new surface impregnants and strengthening techniques for them. It is found that the new impregnants and strengthening techniques developed in this study can retian the charecteristics of the existing concrete and decrease deterioration, and also increase durability, chemical resistance, strength, stiffness and ductility of the existing concrete.

  • A new paraffin salt bridge was developed for the concentration cell in high pressure system. The emf values of the concentration cells were measured to calculate the activity coefficients of the electrolytic ions depending upon the pressure of the system. The activity coefficients of sodium, chloride and bromide ions increase with the temperature of the cell and decreased, nearly half at 2500 bars, $20^{\circ}C$, with the pressure. These results can be explained to be attributed to the volume change of the hydrated ion due to the electrostriction. The volume change decreased with pressure due to an increase in the degree of the hydration.

  • G protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) transmit various extracellular signals into the cells. Upon binding of the ligands, conformational changes in the extracellular and/or transmembrane (TM) domains of CPCRs were propagated into the cytoplasmic (CP) domain of the molecule leading to the activation of their cognate heterotrimeric C proteins and kinases. Constitutively active GPCR mutants causing the activation of C Protein signaling even in the absence of ligand binding are of interest for the study of activation mechanism of GPCRs. Two classes of constitutively active mutations, categorized by their effects on the salt bridge between Ell3 and K296, were found in the TM domain of rhodopsin. Opsin mutants containing combinations of the mutations were constructed to study the conformational changes required for the activation of rhodopsin. Rhodopsin chromophore regenerated with 11-cis-retinal showed a thermal stability inversely correlated with its constitutive activity. In contrast, rhodopsin mutants exhibited a binding affinity to an agonist, all-trans-retinal, in a constitutive activity-dependent manner. In order to test whether the conformational changes responsible for the activation of trans-ducin (Gt) are the same as the conformation required for the recognition of rhodopsin kinase, analysis of the mutants were carried out with phosphorylation by rhodopsin kinase. Rhodopsin mutants containing combinations of different classes of the mutations showed a strong synergistic effect on the phosphorylation of the mutants in the dark as similar to that of Gt activation. The results suggest that at least two or three kinds of segmental and independent conformational changes are required for the activation of rhodopsin and the conformational changes responsible for activating rhodopsin kinase and Gt are similar to each other.

  • To secure basic data by monitoring the growth of salmon (Oncorhynchus keta) released to the Taehwa River. After discharge, the characteristics of the young salmon distribution and migration rate habitat were investigated for two years. A total of 4 points [Sunbawi bridge (St.1), Guyeong bridge (St.2), Samho bridge (St.3), and Myeongchon bridge (St.4)] were investigated. The survey of 2017 indicating an increase of 10 mm in average length and 0.8 g in average weight, and the survey of 2018 indicating an increase of 10 mm in average length and 0.5 g in average weight. Among 39 species, 10 insectivorous and 12 omnivorous, are believed to compete with young salmon for food. 6, 5, 6 and 8 predatory fish species has emerged at each site, respectively. According to this study, it is believed that St.1 and St.2 points are more proper as discharge location of young salmon because these two points have less varied in depth, flow rate, salt concentration etc. In addition, it is thought that the night or dawn time in early January is the best discharge time of young salmon fish because predatory fish such as Korean piscivorous chub and bass etc. does not eat food actively at that time.
