소금의 종류별 미네랄 함량과 외형구조 비교연구 (Comparison of Mineral Content and External Structure of Various Salts)

  • There are several types of salts that classifed into raw salts(Chunil salt, Saeng salt), purified salts (NaCl reagent grade, Hanju salt) and processed salts(Gueun salt, Saeng kum, Bamboo salt) in Korea. Their major element is NaCl but raw salt from sea water contains other minerals such as K, Mg and S. Mineral contents of the various kinds of salt analyzed with ICP-AES and AAS were different, especially on the contents of K, Mg and Ca. Chunil salt was abundant in Ca(1,037ppm), K(3,707ppm), Mg(10,266ppm) and S(7,459ppm), and salt water from the Chunil salt contained small amounts of Pb, Al, Cr and Hg. Processed salts contained high levels of Ca, K, Mg and Fe. Especially, high levels of K, P, Fe and Ge were detected in bamboo salt. Purified salts showed regular crystal form and raw salts exhibited irregular crystal form under the SEM. The processed salts were not crystal form, but fused and irregular round form.

염류처리에 따른 벼의 개엽광합성에 관한 연구 (Studies on the Leaf Photosynthesis of Salt-Stressed Rice Cultivars)

  • The effects of NaCl salinity on the leaf photosynthesis and water relation of two cultivars of rice(Oryza sativa L.) , the salt-tolerant cultivar Seohae and the salt-senstive cultivar Iri-380 were exam-ined. Two cultivars of rice were grown for 14 days in nutrient solution at SOmM NaCl. Comparing theieaf Na content of two cultlvars, Seohae showed high accumulation of Na content in the leaf blade, while Iri-380 showed low. The Na content in leaf blade reduced the rate of leaf photosynthesis. Salt-tolerant cultivar Seohae was less decreased the rate of leaf photosynthesis than salt- sensitive cultivarIri-380. And Seohae showed larger decreased the osmotic potential in the leaves than Iri-380. This in-dicates that in the salt-tolerant cultivar, osmotic adjustment is developed under saliniEation.

내염성 담배 캘러스에 대한 NaCl의 효과 (Effect of NaCl on Salt-tolerant Callus in Tobacco)

  • Effects of various NaCl concentrations on salt-tolerant callus of tobacco were investigated. Selection of NaCl-tolerant (S) callus was conducted by subculturing Nicotiana tabacum cv. BY 4 callus in 200 mM NaCl-containing MS medium for more than 18 months. In spite of the long subculture period, characteristics of salt tolerance were maintained very stably. Significant differences were found in ion contents of each callus which was subcultured with treatment of various NaCl concentrations: Na+ and Cl- became higher but Mg2+, Ca2+ and K+ became lower with the increasing external salt contents. Therefore, the ratios of Na+/Ca2+ and Na+/K+ also increased resulting close to those of halophytic property. The contents of chlorophylls and carotenoids in S callus were estimated to 3.1 and 2.9 times more, respectively. than those of non-selected (NS) callus (control). The higher content of external NaCl tended to increase the amount of water soluble proteins and to decrease the amounts of the total sugars, reducing sugars and free amino acids. The activity of peroxidase was increased with higher contents of external NaCl in S callus, but it was maintained at a higher level than S callus at lower NaCl, followed by a subsequent decrease above 80 mM NaCl in NS callus. These results suggest that S callus may have a biological system converting energy source to efficient growth leading to reduction of the growth inhibition under stress environment.

NaCl 농도가 인삼의 ginsenoside 함량과 pH 및 색의 변화에 미치는 영향 (Effect on the change of ginsenosides, pH and color by NaCl concentration)

  • 인삼을 조미제품의 첨가성분으로 이용할 때 그 NaCl 농도에서 인삼성분의 안정성을 규명하기 위하여, 미삼과 홍삼정을 NaCl 농도별로 처리하여 pH, 색상 및 ginsenosides 함량을 조사한 결과, 미삼의 경우 NaCl 농도가 증가 할수록 pH는 높아졌으나 홍삼정 시험구에서는 유의적인 변화가 없었다. 색상은 NaCl 농도가 증가 될수록 감소하였다. n-BuOH extract 수율은 5% NaCl 농도에서 감소하였고 그 이상의 농도에서는 증가하는 경향을 나타내었으며, 증감 범위는 홍삼정이 컸다. Ginsenosides 함량은 diol계 saponin인 ginsenoside-Re, $-Rb_1$, $-Rb_2$, -Rc, -Rd 및 triol계 saponin인 ginsenoside-Re 모두 5% NaCl 농도에서 감소하였고 그 이상의 농도에서 증가하는 경향이었으며, 특히 ginsenoside-Re가 가장 민감한 증감의 변화를 보였다.

염농도에 따른 보리 유묘의 생리반응 (Physiological Response of Barley Seedlings to Salt Stress)

  • NaCl이 함유된 배지에서 보리가 자랄 경우 문제가 되는 생리적 현상들 - 광합성 능력, 엽록소 함량. 식물체의 체액 유출량, 유출액 중 단백질 함량 등 - 및 이들의 변화양상에 대하여 살펴본 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 세포유출액의 전기전도도나 Na함량은 수경액의 NaCl 함량이 높아짐에 따라 증가하였으며 세포액 유출양상으로 볼 때 NaCl에 의한 해는 건조나 동결에 의한 해와는 다른 양상을 보여 유출되는 속도가 완만하였다. 2. 엽록소 함량, 광합성 능력은 수경액의 NaCl농도에 의해 직접적으로 영향 받지 않았으나 배지의 NaCl 농도가 높을 경우 근활력은 무처리구에 비해 약간 감소하였다 3. 아미노산 함량은 염해에 의해 증가, 감소, 변화가 없는 군 등 3군으로 나눌 수 있었으나 잎과 뿌리의 변화양상은 일치하지 않았다. 4. 식물체의 건물중 K, Na, 당함량은 NaCl을 처리하지 않은 경우는 당이, NaCl의 농도가 100mM인 경우 Na이 가장 높았다. 5. 배지의 NaCl 함량이 높아짐에 따라 잎에서는 Na의 함량이 증가하였으나 뿌리에서는 거의 일정한 수준을 유지하였으며 K의 경우 배지의 Na함량이 높아짐에 따라 지상부 K함량 감소는 약 63%이었던데 비해 뿌리에서는 92%였으며 Na과 K을 합한 양은 수경액의 NaCl 함량이 높아짐에 따라 잎에서는 현저하게 증가하였으나 뿌리에서는 완만한 감소를 보였다.

Inabenfide-Induced Alleviation of Salt Stress in Rice as Linked to Changes in Salicylic Acid Content and Catalase Activity

  • The effect of inabenfide was investigated in rice seedlings subjected to salt stress in relation to changes in chlorophyll fluorescence(${\Delta}F/Fm'$), lipid peroxidation, salicylic acid(SA) content, and catalase(CAT) activity. A reduction in shoot growth of rice seedlings by 120 mM NaCl treatment was significantly alleviated by pretreatment with 30 ${\mu}M$ inabenfide. Sodium ion content was not affected by pretreatment with inabenfide, suggesting that alleviation was not due to a reduction in sodium ion uptake by the rice seedlings. At three days after NaCl treatment, the rice seedlings pretreated with inabenfide showed a higher ${\Delta}F/Fm'$(30%) and lower lipid peroxidation(28%) compared with the rice seedlings treated with NaCl alone. After NaCl treatment, CAT activity in the third leaf of rice seedlings decreased significantly but alleviated by pretreatment with inabenfide. Furthermore, pretreatment with inabenfide also reduced the level of SA which accumulated drastically in the third leaf of rice seedlings within a day after exposure to salt stress. These results suggest that inabenfide prevents SA accumulation in rice seedlings under salt stress which eventually induces the alleviation of salt stress damage.

Hydrogen Sulfide Alleviates Seed Germination Inhibition in Oilseed Rape (Brassica napus L.) Under Salt Stress

  • The germination process is critical for plant growth and development and it is largely affected by environmental stress, especially salinity. Recently, hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is well known to act as a signaling molecule in a defense mechanism against stress conditions but poorly understood regulating seed germination. In this study, the effects of NaHS (the H2S donor) pretreatment on various biochemical (hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) content and amylase and protease activity) and physiological properties (germination rate) during seed germination of oilseed rape (Brassica napus L. cv. Mosa) were examined under salt stress. The seed germination and seedling growth of oilseed rape were inhibited by NaCl treatment but it was alleviated by NaHS pretreatment. The NaCl treatment increased H2O2 content leading to oxidative stress, but NaHS pre-treatments maintained much lower levels of H2O2 in germinating seeds under salt stress. Amylase activity, a starch degradation enzyme, significantly increased over 2-fold in control, NaHS pretreatment, and NaHS pretreatment under NaCl during seed germination compared to NaCl treatment. Protease activity was highly induced in NaHS-pretreated seeds compared to NaCl treatment, accompanied by a decrease in protein content. These results indicate that NaHS pretreatment could improve seed germination under salt stress conditions by decreasing H2O2 accumulation and activating the degradation of protein and starch to support seedling growth.

저식염 속성 멸치 발효액화물 가공에 관한 연구(I) -숙성 중 유리아미노산 변화 및 품질지표- (Studies on the Processing of Rapid- and Low Salt-Fermented Liquefaction of Anchovy(Engrulis japonica) (I) -Changes in Free Amino Acids during Fermentation and Quality Indices-)

  • In order to establish the processing condition of rapid- and low salt-fermented liquefaction of anchovy (Engrulis japonica), effect of temperature on crude enzyme activity of anchovy viscera, pretreatment conditions, and the minimum content of adding NaCl were investigated. The minimum limitation of NaCl content for anchovy liquefaction was 10%. Sample A(water adding, heating, adding 10% NaCl): chopped whole anchovy adding 20% water and then heating for 9 hrs at $50^{\circ}C$ and then adding 10% NaCl and then fermented at room temperature$(8-29^{\circ}C)$ for 180 days. Sample B(water adding, heating, adding 13% NaCl): chopped whole anchovy adding 20% water and then heating for 9 hrs at $50^{\circ}C$ and then adding 13% NaCl and then fermented at room temperature for 180 days. Sample C(adding 13% NaCl): chopped whole anchovy and then adding 13% NaCl and then fermented at room temperature for 180 days. Sample D(adding 17% NaCl): whole anchovy adding 17% NaCl and then fermented at room temperature for 180 days. The content of free amino acids such as aspartic acid, serine and threonine fluctuated severely according to the pretreatment methods. Possibly they might be recommend quality indices of standardization for salt-fermented liquefaction of anchovy. As for the relation between fermentation period(X) and individual free amino acid(Y), five kinds of free amino acids such as glutamic acid, valine, glycine, lysine, and alanine showed highly significant in their coefficient of determination in most of samples. They might be recommend as quality indices for salt-fermented liquefaction of anchovy during fermentation. The difference of taste between products of the rapid- and low salt-fermented liquefaction and the traditional salt-fermented liquefaction were caused by their composition of the free amino acids ratios, in which were umami, sweet, and bitter taste in the extracts of anchovy during fermentation. The appropriate fermentation period of the sample A was shorten 30 days than the sample B and 60 days than the samples C and 90 days than the sample D in the processing of anchovy.

보리 유묘기의 한해와 염해반응 (Physiological Response of Barley to Water Stress and Salt Stress at Seedling Stage)

  • 1. 삼투 potential($\Psi_\pi$=-10 bar)이 같은 P.E.G.와 NaCl 용액을 사용하여 유묘의 한해와 염해를 비교한 결과 초장, 유묘건물중, 엽록소 함량 그리고 엽수분 potential의 감소와 유리 proline 함량의 증가는 NaCl 처리보다는 P.E.G. 처리구에서 더 심하였다. 2. 유리 아미노산은 무처리(호그랜드 용액)보다 한해유발처리(P.E.G.)에서 2.6배 그리고 염해유발처리(NaCl)에서 3.6배 증가하였으나 유리 proline은 전 아미노산 함량 중 한해과 염해에서 각각 66%와 61%를 차지하였다. 3. P.E.G. 처리구에서는 phenylalanine이 그리고 NaCl 처리에서는 phenylalanine, alanine 및 asparagine이 현저히 증가한 경향이었다. 4. 보리 유묘기의 한해와 염해반응은 전반적으로 볼 때 비교적 동질적이고 유사한 경향이었다.

염약침(鹽藥鍼)을 위한 소금의 의학적 효용 (The Effect of Salt in Medicine for Salt Pharmacopuncture)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to demonstrate the effectiveness and availability of salt pharmacopuncture of Korean sun-dried salt and processing salt on the basis of bibliographical review. Methods : This study was done through a narrative review of related bibliography including medical books, journals, general bibliography, and web sites. Results : 1. Korean sun-dried salt is produced in the ground with soil, tiles, and pottery. Sun-dried, traditional, granulated, bamboo, and grilled salts are all appropriate for medical use. They are composed of a lower level of NaCl and unnecessary substances, and have a higher water and mineral content. 2. The 9~30 g of NaCl included in the physiological saline matches the ratio of a normal human body. However, if the saline is used for water supply, it should be improved because the recommended amount is much lower. 3. Medicine that includes NaCl is applied for lessening the congestion of the nasal cavity, alleviating cornea swelling, or for a lack of water. NaCl can also be used for washing contact lenses as well as cleaning the mucous membrane of the eyes and nose. 4. Salt relieves anger, detoxifies, induces vomiting, builds strong muscles and bones, gives energy, slows aging, and ultimately improves health. 5. Salt treats many diseases including: cardiovascular, hematosis, respirometer, obstetric, musculoskeletal, mineral supplement, eye, teeth and skin issues, etc.. However, salt is not used for treating asthma, cough, or other ailments mainly affecting the vascular system. 6. While NaCl in salt absorbs water and the vascular constriction results in higher blood pressure, the pressure induced from salt is actually a physiologically temporary rise. Rather, salt helps remove oil from the body and its potassium lowers blood pressure. Conclusions : It was suggested that salt pharmacopuncture of Korean sun-dried salt and processing salt should be made available for adjusting the physiological salt concentration and control of the Na side effects, therefore it would be useful in the treatment of diseases.
