  • The study empirically analyses a linear relationship between terrestrial advertising rates and viewer ratings. Consistent with the results of preceding studies, the present study finds a convex relationship between standard advertising rates and viewer ratings. However, after all other sales practices are taken into account, a linear relationship is documented between per-minute advertising revenue and viewer ratings. Absent the exact functional relationship between the two, it is hard to evaluate accurately how efficiently or inefficiently the current GS System has operated, but it tells us that a certain level of market mechanism prevailed within the system. The findings are consistent with the 1 Public-1 Private Media Representative alternative among many alternatives currently sought by the KCC should we accept the premise that the public aspect is as equally important as, if not more important than, the efficiency aspect of terrestrial broadcasting.

  • This study investigated organic coffee choice motives from a coffee shop market segmentation perspective in order to understand the potential importance they may have upon attitudes and behavioral intentions to buy organic coffee. A factor-cluster segmentation approach was used for this study. An exploratory factor analysis identified five organic coffee choice motives: 'Sensory', 'Environment', 'Trust', 'Health' and 'Price'. Based upon these five choice motives, cluster analyses classified all respondents into three homogeneous subgroups: 'Highly motivated', 'Moderately motivated' and 'Unmotivated'. Analysis of variance tests indicated that attitudes and intentions to purchase organic coffee were significantly different among the three clusters. In particular, two cluster groups representing 'Highly motivated' and 'Moderately motivated' were found to offer the most utility for further organic coffee market segmentation research. Especially, due to perceptions about high price premium of organic coffee, the 'Moderately motivated' group had higher positive attitudes, although, their intentions to buy organic coffee were not higher than those of the 'Unmotivated' cluster. Findings support previous research propositions that high price could be the strongest barrier for people to purchase organic products including the organic coffee business context. This will assist to market and promote pricing strategies for caf$\acute{e}$s and restaurants to optimize organic coffee sales revenue. Implications for all cluster groups regarding unique socio-demographic characteristics and behavioral intentions are discussed. Organic coffee marketers can apply these findings towards the development of effective target market strategies.

  • This study examines, from an economic perspective, the reasons for introducing a resource taxe system into the Korean off-shore fisheries and the type of charges that can be introduced. Following a review of the charging systems in other advanced fisheries, we consider the types of charging scheme and some implications for the Korean off-shore fishing industry. Charges could be used for recovering part of fisheries management cost from the industry(i.e. administration, enforcement, research, etc). This can be justified on the grounds that the fishing industry is the main beneficiary of management and that it should therefore bear at least part of the cost involved. It is arguable that publicly-funded management is in effect a subsidy to the industry. Using charges to raise revenue in excess of the cost of management would represent the extraction of a public rent from the fishery resource, but the short-run financial consqquences for the industry would be significant. Results from a qualtitative analysis suggest that while any new charge will have a significant financial impact on the industry in the short run, a landings tax would have a lesser impact on fleet structure in the long run. The study also considers the possibility of a capital gains tax on license sales in order to recover some rent from the industry. Despite any short run-financial consequences, making the fishing industry pay for at least some of the cost of management could benefit the industry as a whole if there were more cooperation between industry and managers as a result. It is acknowledged, however, that there could be disputes over the relative management costs of different sectors of the industry. Even though this study makes few specific recommendations about charging the Korean off-shore fishing industry, it does advise that the issue be reviewed on the basis of the entire Korea fisheries. Finally, the study notes that insufficient data are available on the economic performance of the Korean off-shore fishing vessels and it recommands that a comprehensive system for the collection of costs and earnings data be put in place. It also suggests that MOMAF pay much attention to the permit right market and its transactions.

  • Franchisors court additional franchisees as marketing partners for continued growth in sales revenue. Competitive climate, potential franchisees have their choice of suitors and are likely to scrutinize them carefully. As this research makes, franchisors affiliated with chains that forge strong partnerships are to achieve superior performance. The chain that promises a strong partnership is more have its choice of prospective franchise partners. Developing strong partnerships can use to recruit high quality franchisees. If franchisors with to experience the benefits of a strong franchise partnership, they must be willing to work on behalf of the partnership, perform roles that may extend beyond their traditional boundaries, and resolve their disagreement to the benefit of the partnership rather than to their own benefit. Strong partnerships require sacrifices on the part of both the franchisees and franchisors. However, These sacrifices have substantial payoffs in terms of franchisor performance as well as the performance of the relationship as a whole.

  • This study empirically investigates the double jeopardy phenomenon in a Korean and a New Zealand context. The double jeopardy is that companies with a small market share tend to suffer not only smaller sales volumes but also suffer a lower price than the market leader. The research reported here analyses price and market share data for 14 categories of household goods in Korea and a smaller number in New Zealand. Analysis shows that, in Korea, leading brands do enjoy a price premium as predicted, of around 15%, but that there is little or no evidence of double jeopardy occurring in New Zealand. Based on this study, evidence suggests that market share is a strong valid strategic objective in the East.

  • The purpose of this study is to review the theories and cases of performance sharing in the franchise industry to present a method for more effective franchise performance-sharing. To that end, this study reviewed the theory on resource dependence and the theory on inequality to describe the performance-sharing between the franchisor and the franchisee and their relationship. It also looked at the cases of a week-in cooler system at 'Beer Market', the allocation of fees for alcoholic beverage sales to franchisees, the scholarship program of 'Onigiri and Ikyudon' and 'Bonsamo' which is a franchisees' committee for Bonjuk to introduce examples of performance-sharing. Through a theoretical review and case review, this study presents five types of methods for performance-sharing. First, 'the sharing of core competence by the franchise company; second, 'the establishment of a royalty culture'; third, 'scientific analysis of markets and establishment of a revenue forecast system'; fourth, 'reinforced financial support from the franchisor'; and lastly, 'the positive application of franchisees' committees'. Such methods are expected to provide a groundwork for mutual benefit and co-prosperity between franchisor and franchisee.

  • Through the research, we found that the organizational systems of social enterprises in Europe have both properties of limited companies and stock companies in traditional organizational structures such as cooperatives, mutual companies and associations. However, social enterprises pursue interests of entire community, allowing the interested parties to join them in comparison with cooperatives. And for finance, most of the countries mainly use public fund such as national grants, but they are using more sales revenue. However, in our country the organizational systems of social enterprises have been introduced as the government and academic circles discussed expansion of social employment within a short period. So Korean enterprises tend to depend on national support rather than profitable activities for finance. Therefore, we need to develop a Korean convention or social agreement for the organizational systems of social enterprises. Furthermore, it is important for social enterprises to secure safe finance through development of social services and social cultures such as donation.
