Comparison of Agronomic Characteristics, Forage Quality and Productivity in Local Collections of Mugwort (Artemisia princeps. Pamp.) (수집종 쑥(Artemisia princeps. Pamp.)의 생육특성, 사료가치 및 수량성 비교)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate on agronomic characteristics, forage quality and dry matter (DM) yields of mugwort (Artemisia princeps Pamp.) collected different region at Seongju in Kyeongbuk from 2014 to 2015. The experiment was arranged in randomized complete block design with three replications. Mugwort was planted on $17^{th}$ March, 2014 and harvested on $13^{th}$ September, 2014 and on $25^{th}$ May and $9^{th}$ September, 2015. DM yields of Dalsung(1), Seongju B.(1), Dalsung(2) and Sajuarissuk were 17.3, 16.8, 16.7 and $16.7(MT\;ha^{-1})$, respectively and the DM yields of those were higher (p<0.05) than the other mugworts in 2014. In 2015, DM yields of Dalsung(1), Dalsung(2), Seongju B.(1), and Sajuarissuk were 19.5, 19.3, 18.4 and $18.4(MT\;ha^{-1})$, respectively and DM yields of those were higher (p<0.05) than the others. DDM(digestable dry matter) content of mugworts was a range of 56.4 to 60.8% and that of Sajabalssuk, 60.8% was the highest. Seongju B.(1) 58.8% was higher than Seongju B.(2) 56.4% but there were no difference among the Dalsung(1) 58.4%, Dalsung(2) 58.1%, Sajuarissuk 57.7% and Yeongcheon. The result of this study indicated that Dalsung(1), Dalsung(2), Sajuarissuk and Seongju B.(1) would be recommendable for forage production.

  • Antiallergic activities of two variants of Artemisia princeps Pampanini SJ-1 (named as Sajabalssuk) and SS-1 (named as Sajuarissuk) cultivated in Ganghwado, which contain high content of eupatilin compared to those cultured by other places, were investigated to evaluate the possibility as inhibitors against allergic diseases. Ethanol and supercritical fluid extracts of SJ-1 and SS-1 inhibited the release of ${\beta}-hexosaminidase$ from RBL-2H3 cells, although their water extracts were inactive. These extracts potently inhibited lipopolysaccharide-induced NO production of RAW264.7. However, these extracts almost did not scavenge free radicals. Oral administration of these extracts to mice inhibited passive cutaneous anaphylaxis reaction induced by IgE, and acute dermatitis induced by 12-O-tetradecanoylphorbol-13-acetate. However, these extracts did not inhibit chronic dermatitis. Scratching behaviors, vascular permeability, and writhing syndromes were weakly inhibited by these extract at a dose of 50 mg/kg. Based on these findings, we believe that SJ-1 and SS-1 can improve IgE-induced allergic diseases such as rhinitis and asthma.

  • The aerial parts of Artemisia princeps PAMPANINI were extracted with 80% aqueous MeOH and the concentrated extract was partitioned with EtOAc, n-BuOH and $H_2$O, successively. From the EtOAc fraction, five compounds were isolated through the repeated silica gel and ODS column chromatog-raphies. They were determined as friedelin (1), ${\beta}$-amyrin (2), ${\beta}$-amyrin acetate (3), camphanediol (4) and hispidulin (5) on the basis of spectral data, respectively.

  • Three stigmastane-type sterols and one ergostane-type sterol were isolated from the ethyl acetate soluble fraction of the aerial parts of Artemisia princeps Pampanini (Sajuarissuk). From the results of physico-chemical data including NMR, MS and IR, the chemical structures of the compounds were determined as $stigmasta-5,22-dien-3,{\beta}-ol (stigmasterol, 1),stigmast-5-en-3{\beta}-ol({\beta}-sitosterol,2), 5{\beta},8{\beta}-epidioxy-5{\beta},8{\beta}-ergosta-6,22-dien-3{\beta}-ol(ergosterol peroxide, 3),\;and\;{\beta}-sitosterol\;3-O-{\beta}D-glucopyranoside(daucosterol,4)$.

  • This study was performed to investigate the differences among three varieties of Mugwort by using the electronic nose. Volatile components from these products were discriminated by the $VaporPrint^{TM}$ without pretreatment. Pattern recognition was carried out, $VaporPrint^{TM}$ analysis showed the differences among locally produced ones. Polar derivative pattern for the collected mugwort using $VaporPrint^{TM}$ between Sajabalssuk and Sajuarissuk had no difference, but Ssajuarissuk nnd Injinssuk had a lot of difference. Thus aroma pattern between locally produced ones could be distinguished.
