  • 가속도 센서는 물체의 움직임, 속도의 변화, 충격, 진동 등의 동적힘을 순시적으로 감지하여 유용한 정보로 변환시키는 장치이다. 본 논문에서는 실리콘 기계 구조물과 광섬유형 Fabry - Perot 센서(FFPI)를 사용하여 광섬유 간섭계형 가속도 센서를 제작하였으며 실리콘 구조물의 구조를 변경하여 용도에 적합한 다양한 센서를 제작할 수 있음을 보였다. 광 간섭계는 그 구조에 따라 Fabry - Perot$^{[2]}$ , Mach-Zender$^{[3]}$ , Michelson$^{[4]}$ , Sagnac$^{[5]}$ 등으로 구분되면 이러한 간섭계 중에서 Fabry - Perot 간섭계는 측정영역이 두 반사막의 거리로 정확하게 정의되며 반사막의 거리를 조절하여 좁은 영역에서의 측정이 가능하고 고감도를 갖는다.   • 본 연구에서는 광섬유 자이로(Fiber Optic Gyro)의 광학부 간섭계를 모사하고자 한다. 디지털 신호처리를 이용하여 광섬유 고리의 응답특성을 모사한다. 디지털 신호의 1bit 분해능으로 0.1deg/hr의 성능을 내는 광섬유 자이로를 모사하기엔 부족하다. 본 연구에서는 Random Noise를 활용하여 분해능을 높임으로써 광섬유 고리의 성능을 정확히 모사하고자 한다. 입력 레이트에 Random Noise를 실어줌으로써 1bit 분해능의 성능을 높일 수 있다. 1bit 사이의 값들이 랜덤노이즈로 인해 1bit 더해지거나 빼짐으로써 정확한 값을 갖을 수 있다.

Investigation of Sound Pressure Detection of Fiber Optic Sensor in Transformer Oil According to TLS and CW Laser Source (TLS와 CW 광원에 따른 트랜스포머 오일 내에서 광섬유 센서의 음압 감지 특성 연구)

  • To substitute TLS in the hybrid system which is combined with Sagnac interferometer and fiber bragg grating (FBG) it is necessary to investigate how the laser source (TLS and CW) and sensor material variate the response of fiber optic sensor. Two different hollow cylinder type mandrel materials are proposed which are PTFE and PTFE+carbon and 18 m optical fiber is wounded at the mandrel surface. CW laser source experiments had been done in the oil tank which is filled with transformer oil in the 1 kHz~20 kHz frequency range. Also Sagnac interferometer fiber optic sensor is combined with FBG called hybrid system and TLS used as a light source. Based on the experimental results PTFE sensor showed more higher magnitude of detection signal rather than carbon sensor and this result is agreement with the McMahon's theoretical results. Phase variation is inversely proportional to the elastic modulus of the mandrel material. In PTFE fiber sensor, tunable laser source showed more higher performance rather than CW case. Therefore, TLS fiber optic sensor can be applied to the hybrid system which is combined with Sagnac and FBG.

  • 링레이저 자이로스코프(Ring Laser Gyroscope-이하 RLG)는 비행기, 유도무기, 선박, 지상무기 등의 관성항법장치(Inertial Navigation System)에 사용되는 각속도 센서로서 항체의 위치와 자세 정보를 제공하는 핵심 구성품 중의 하나이다. 각속도 검출 원리는 삼각형 또는 사각형의 공진기에 He과 Ne을 혼합한 이득매질을 사용하여 서로 반대방향으로 회전하는 두 개의 레이저 빔을 발생시켜서 Sagnac 효과에 의해 외부의 회전 입력을 받을 때 서로 다른 광 경로의 차이로 인한 두 빔의 간섭으로 회전각을 검출한다.   • In this paper, sound pressure sensitivity of the fiber optic acoustic sensor according to sensor direction and mandrel material were investigated experimentally. Three different directions were selected as stand, lay, and hole. Hollow cylinder type mandrel dimension is 30 mm in outer diameter, 45 mm in length, and 2 mm in thickness, and about 50 m optical fibers were wounded on the surface of the mandrel. Non-directional sound speaker was used as a sound source. Sagnac interferometer and single mode fiber, a laser with 1,550 nm in wavelength, $2{\times}2$ coupler were used. Based on the experimental results, lay direction's sensitivity is the highest in the frequency range of 2 kHz~4 kHz. 'PTFE+carbon' material is more sensitive than PTFE in the frequency range of 5 kHz~20 kHz. Sound pressure detection sensitivity depends on the mandrel direction and material under certain frequency.

  • 본 논문에서는 전력케이블, 전력용 변압기 및 가스 절연차단기와 같은 전력설비의 열화로 인한 방전현상 검출을 위해서 간섭계형 광섬유 센서를 제작하고, 방전 현상을 측정하였다. 광섬유 센서는 아크릴과 알류미늄 광섬유를 수회 감은 맨드릴형으로 선택하였으며, 간섭계는 Sagnac 간섭계를 선택하여 실험하였다. 방전현상은 절연유내에 방전모의셀을 설치하여 방전현상을 일으켰고, 광섬유 센서로 방전신호를 검출하였다.

  • Optical fiber sensor is a subject which has been attracted considerable attention in recent year. Especially, it is being developed for the detection and location of partial discharge in oil-filled transformers. In this paper, we propose and experimentally demonstrate directivity and sensitivity of a hollow cylindrical mandrel sensor. The sound source is a PZT actuator of hollow cylinder type. Several layers of the fiber laminated around the mandrel surface and experiments were performed on three axis modes. The experimental results can be applied to analyze detected signals optimally.

  • When the fiber Bragg gratings are embedded in a fiber-optic Sagnac loop for measuring temperature or strain, it is difficult to separate the Bragg wavelengths. The transmitted light is mixed with the reflected Bragg wavelengths in the photo-detector, working as noises. To suppress the noises, we placed the FBG sensors and a fiber-optic attenuator at asymmetric positions in the loop. With the arrangement the reflected light became much bigger than the transmitted light, enabling the separation of the reflected Bragg wavelengths with almost the same signal-to-noise ratio of the FBG sensors outside the loop.

Polarization-Maintaining Photonic-Crystal-Fiber-based Polarimetric Strain Sensor with a Short Sensing Head (짧은 센서부를 가진 편광유지 광자결정 광섬유 기반 편광 간섭형 스트레인 센서)

  • In this paper we have implemented a temperature-insensitive polarimetric fiber strain sensor based on a Sagnac birefringence interferometer composed of a short polarization-maintaining photonic crystal fiber (PM-PCF), a 3-dB fiber coupler, and polarization controllers. The PM-PCF used as a sensor head was 2 cm long, which is the shortest length for a sensing element compared to other polarimetric fiber strain sensors using a PM-PCF. The proposed sensor showed a strain sensitivity of ${\sim}0.87pm/{\mu}{\varepsilon}$ with a strain measurement range from 0 to $8m{\varepsilon}$. The temperature sensitivity was also investigated and measured as approximately $-12pm/^{\circ}C$, when ambient temperature changed from 30 to $100^{\circ}C$. This temperature sensitivity is about 82 times smaller than that of conventional polarization-maintaining fiber (approximately $-990pm/^{\circ}C$). In particular, from a practical perspective we have experimentally and theoretically confirmed that the wavelength selected for the indicator dip location does not make a significant difference in the strain sensitivity.

  • The spatial coherence function of laser beam was measured by using a Sagnac interferometer and self referencing technique. For laser beam passing through a narrow slit, absolute value of measured spatial coherence function becomes more symmetric as the slit size is reduced. For diverging beams, the spatial coherence function shows fast oscillations in its real and imaginary parts. We explain this by using a Gaussian Schell-model. One can use this measurement method to study and characterize the property of light field coming out of small sample.
