Surgical methods and associated precision systems have been developed, but surgical procedures that require precise location and fine manipulation of the lesion remain a limitation. The combination of precision robot manipulation technology and 3D medical image navigation technology overcomes the limitations of minimally invasive surgery (MIS) and enables a more stable and successful operation. Surgical robots are surgical robots such as da Vince, and surgical robots using industrial robotic arms. There are various developments and researches of medical robots. In recent medical robot development, a new type of surgical robot based on an industrial robot arm capable of easily replacing the end effector according to the user's needs is being actively developed at home and abroad. Therefore, in this study, we developed safety and performance evaluation guideline for micro - surgical robots based on open robot platform using general purpose robot arm to help quality control of the medical device.

In this study, numerical hull form development of a platform supply vessel, a full scale with the overall length of 26.75m, was performed to predict a bare-hull resistance and a large scale of model tests with a 1/10 scaled model were conducted to verify the success of numerical results. Numerical analysis on heave and pitch motion as a function of encounter frequency and ship's speed for the prediction of seakeeping characteristics are also presented. The experiment results of resistance agreed well with numerical analysis. As a result in the motion response characteristics, the heave RAO indicates high values with the range of encounter frequency 1.8~2.0. The Pitch RAO indicates high motion response characteristics at Beaufort scale No. 3 and 4 in rough seas.
In controlling manipulators interacting with the external environment, an important role is played by the Force/Torque(F/T) sensors. Recently, a number of structures for F/T sensors have been proposed, and some criteria for their evaluation have been introduced. This paper presents a systematic analysis of F/T sensor at the design stage. A model of the F/T sensors, based on Stewart Platform structure, is developed on the basis of static and kinematic equation. The condition number defined by the kinematic velocity and force analysis of F/T sensor is used as a performance Index. Thus, 4 optimal structure factors of 6 D.O. F. F/T sensor are determined by using the condition number.

On offshore platforms, oil and gas leaks are apt to be the initial events of major accidents that may result in significant loss of life and property damage. To prevent accidents induced by leakage, it is vital to perform a case-specific and accurate risk assessment. This paper presents an integrated method of Ddynamic Qquantitative Rrisk Aassessment (DQRA)-using the Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL)-Bayesian Network (BN)-for evaluation of the system vulnerabilities and prediction of the occurrence probabilities of accidents induced by leakage. In the method, three-level indicators are established to identify factors, events, and subsystems that may lead to leakage, fire, and explosion. The critical indicators that directly influence the evolution of risk are identified using DEMATEL. Then, a sequential model is developed to describe the escalation of initial events using an Event Tree (ET), which is converted into a BN to calculate the posterior probabilities of indicators. Using the newly introduced accident precursor data, the failure probabilities of safety barriers and basic factors, and the occurrence probabilities of different consequences can be updated using the BN. The proposed method overcomes the limitations of traditional methods that cannot effectively utilize the operational data of platforms. This work shows trends of accident risks over time and provides useful information for risk control of floating marine platforms.

The present paper describes a general procedure of the structural safety assessment for the independent type C tank of LNG bunkering ship. This strength assessment procedure consists of two main scheme, global Finite Element Analysis (FEA) model primarily for hull structure assessment and detailed LNG Tank structures FEA model including the cylindrical tank itself and saddle-support structures. Two kinds of mechanism are used, fixed and slides constraints in fore and rear of the saddle-support structures that result in a variation of the reaction forces. Finite Element (FE) analyses have been performed and verified by the strength acceptance criteria to evaluate the safety adequacy of yielding and buckling of the hull and supporting structures. The detail of FE model for an LNG type C tank and its saddle supports was made, which includes the structural members such as cylindrical tank shell, ring stiffeners, swash bulkhead, and saddle supports. Subsequently, the FE buckling analysis of the Type C tank has been performed under external pressure following International Gas Containment (IGC) code requirements. Meanwhile, the assessment is also performed for yielding and buckling strength evaluation of the cylindrical LNG tank according to the PD 5500 unfired fusion welded pressure vessels code. Finally, a complete procedure for assessing the structural strength of 500 CBM LNG cargo tank, saddle support and hull structures have been provided.

According to international regulations, it is mandatory for navigators or engineers to acquire suitable skillsets before their designation as a duty officer on board. One of the most important elements is Maritime English (ME), wherein students are taught a required set of basic skills that enable them to process various documents related to accidents, ship conditions, and inspections. Students have to be equipped not only with the use of general English skills but also with the coherent use of technical terms and phrases. However, due to the unique circumstances that exist in the maritime domain, the methods used for imparting maritime knowledge and the manner in which it is evaluated are restricted. Hence, this study aims to utilize an online Maritime English learning and testing platform that can be accessed on smart devices to analyze its impact on the students' learning process. An experiment was conducted on two groups of cadets, one that used the platform and another group that did not. After six-week, the experiment results showed a significant difference between the ME test scores of the two groups. The test scores were further analyzed by incorporating the students' personal elements to measure the ef icacy of the ME test platform. Therefore, the learning and evaluation processes are expected to be implemented in ways that are appropriate and convenient to specific circumstances and be widely used in the field of maritime education in the future.
The effect of vertical riser support system on the dynamic behaviour of a classical spar platform is investigated. Spar platform generally uses buoyancy-can riser support system, but as water depth gets deeper the alternative riser support system is required due to safety and cost issues. The alternative riser support system is to hang risers off the spar platform using pneumatic cylinders rather than the buoyancy-can. The existing numerical model for hull/mooring/riser coupled dynamics analysis treats riser as an elastic rod truncated at the keel (truncated riser model), thus, in this model, the effect of riser support system can not be modeled correctly. Due to this reason, the truncated riser model tends to overestimate the spar pitch and heave motion. To evaluate more realistic global spar motion, mechanical coupling among risers, guide frames and support cylinders inside of spar moon-pool should be modeled. In the newly developed model, the risers are extended through the moon-pool by using nonlinear finite element methods with realistic boundary condition at multiple guide frames. In the simulation, the vertical tension from pneumatic cylinders is modeled by using ideal-gas equation and the vertical tension from buoyancy-cans is modeled as constant top tension. The different dynamic characteristics between buoyancy-can riser support system and pneumatic riser support system are extensively studied. The alternative riser support system tends to increase spar heave motion and needs damper system to reduce the spar heave motion.

Previously, our research group isolated Bifidobacterium breve IDCC4401 from infant feces as a potential probiotic. For this study, we evaluated the safety of B. breve IDCC4401 using genomic and phenotypic analyses. Whole genome sequencing was performed to identify genomic characteristics and investigate the potential presence of genes encoding virulence, antibiotic resistance, and mobile genetic elements. Phenotypic analyses including antibiotic susceptibility, enzyme activity, production of biogenic amines (BAs), and proportion of D-/L-lactate were evaluated using E-test, API ZYM test, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and D-/L-lactic acid assay respectively. The genome of B. breve IDCC4401 consists of 2,426,499 bp with a GC content of 58.70% and 2,016 coding regions. Confirmation of the genome as B. breve was provided by its 98.93% similarity with B. breve DSM20213. Furthermore, B. breve IDCC4401 genes encoding virulence and antibiotic resistance were not identified. Although B. breve IDCC4401 showed antibiotic resistance against vancomycin, we confirmed that this was an intrinsic feature since the antibiotic resistance gene was not present. B. breve IDCC4401 showed leucine arylamidase, cystine arylamidase, α-galactosidase, β-galactosidase, and α-glucosidase activities, whereas it did not show production of harmful enzymes such as β-glucosidase and β-glucuronidase. In addition, B. breve IDCC4401 did not produce any tyramine, histamine, putrescine, cadaverine, or 2-phenethylamine, which are frequently detected BAs during fermentation. B. breve IDCC4401 produced 95.08% of L-lactate and 4.92% of D-lactate. Therefore, our findings demonstrate the safety of B. breve IDCC 4401 as a potential probiotic for use in the food industry.
