마이크로컨트롤러 환경에서 타깃 바이너리 파일 분석을 통한 최대 스택 메모리 사용량 예측 기법 (Maximum Stack Memory Usage Estimation Through Target Binary File Analysis in Microcontroller Environment)

  • Software safety is a key issue in embedded system of automotive and aviation industries. Various software testing approaches have been proposed to achieve software safety like ISO26262 Part 6 in automotive environment. In spite of one of the classic and basic approaches, stack memory is hard to estimating exactly because of uncertainty of target code generated by compiler and complex nested interrupt. In this paper, we propose an approach of analyzing the maximum stack usage statically from target binary code rather than the source code that also allows nested interrupts for determining the exact stack memory size. In our approach, determining maximum stack usage is divided into three steps: data extraction from ELF file, construction of call graph, and consideration of nested interrupt configurations for determining required stack size from the ISR (Interrupt Service Routine). Experimental results of the estimation of the maximum stack usage shows proposed approach is helpful for optimizing stack memory size and checking the stability of the program in the embedded system that especially supports nested interrupts.

Fumonisin $B_1$ induced renal toxicity in Sprague-Dawley rats

  • We investigated the effect of a single intravenous dose of Fumonisin $B_1(FB_1$) of rat kidney on the time sequence. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were intravenouslyin jected with FB$_1$at 1.25 mg/kg and were euthanized at 12 hrs, 1, 2, 4, and 6 days after the injection. In $FB_1$ treated rats, serum BUN and creatinine were elevated from 12 hrs. Microscopically, the initial target site was tubules of inner stripe, with mild degenerative and necrotic changes at 12 hrs, but the tubules recovered on day 4. In outer stripe, there were only a few scattered necrotic cells on day 1. These changes became more obvious over the time passed and most severe on day 4. On day 6, regeneration occurred, manifest as hypertrophic, basophilic tubular cells. The dying cells were proved to necrotic cells instead of apoptotic cells by TUNEL. Ultrastructural changes were cytoplasmic vacuole, dilated endoplasmic reticulum, swollen mitochondria, ballooned microvilli of the tubular cell in the outer stripe. These results showed that the renal tubules of outer medulla were the target to $FB_1$-induced nephrotoxicity in the rat. However, initial target was mner stnpe of medulla.

  • Recently, instrumentation and control (I&C) systems in nuclear power plants have undergone digitalization. Owing to the unique characteristics of digital I&C systems, the reliability analysis of digital systems has become an important element of probabilistic safety assessment (PSA). In a reliability analysis of digital systems, fault-tolerant techniques and their effectiveness must be considered. A fault injection experiment was performed on a safety-critical digital I&C system developed for nuclear power plants to evaluate the effectiveness of fault-tolerant techniques implemented in the target system. A software-implemented fault injection in which faults were injected into the memory area was used based on the assumption that all faults in the target system will be reflected in the faults in the memory. To reduce the number of required fault injection experiments, the memory assigned to the target software was analyzed. In addition, to observe the effect of the fault detection coverage of fault-tolerant techniques, a PSA model was developed. The analysis of the experimental result also can be used to identify weak points of fault-tolerant techniques for capability improvement of fault-tolerant techniques

LOPA분석에 의한 Flare Stack용 HIPS의 합리적 SIL결정 (The Reasonable SIL Determination by LOPA for HIPS Design of Flare Stack)

  • 1969년에 발간된 API521 1st edition에서는 Flare Load 저감용으로 적용되는 HIPS (High Integrity Protection System)는 모두 Pressure Safety Valve의 고장확률보다 낮은 SIL 3 (Safety Integrity Level)등급을 적용할 것을 요구하고 있다. Flare Stack 저감용 HIPS는 주로 압축기 출력압력상승, Reboiler Steam 과다주입, 전력공급중단냉각펌프고장 등에 의한 Flare 발생을 예방하기 위한 기능을 가진 SIF (Safety Instrumented Function)로 구성된다. 하지만 2007년도 발간된 API521 5th edition에서는 LOPA (Layer Of Protection Analysis) 분석을 통해 Target SIL을 도출하는 것으로 요구사항을 변경했다. 이에 따라 이번 연구에서는 Flare Load에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 시나리오 중 대표적인 시나리오를 대상으로 HAZOP(Hazard and Operability Study)과 LOPA분석을 실시해서 Target SIL이 어떻게 도출되는지를 연구했다. Flare Stack에서 Flare를 발생시키는 대표적인 시나리오들에 대해 LOPA분석을 실시한 결과 압축기 출력압력상승은 SIL 2, Reboiler Steam 과다주입은 SIL 3, 전력공급중단은 SIL 0, 냉각펌프고장은 SIL 0로 모두가 SIL 3 가 나오지는 않았다. SIF 설계 시 Target SIL을 만족시키는 것도 중요하지만 운전 시 SIL 등급이 계속 유지되게 하지 위해 인적오류, 시스템적 고장, 하드웨어고장 등에 의해 SIF 기능불능화가 되는 것을 예방하기 위한 기능안전관리시스템 (FSMS)를 적용하는 것도 중요하다.

  • As technologies are developed and systems are complicated, hazards embedded in the system are also increasing. proving safety and managing the safety is more scientific and organizational domain so that safety management system is pursuing to be active formation detecting the factors of hazard and managing them beyond passive-way. In the future, in order to establish and manage national safety management system, it is important to have effective system and manage it and also more important that all the people related to target system has to change their recognition and to play roles in it.

유전자교정작물 내 비의도적 돌연변이의 안전성 논란에 관한 과학적 고찰 (Scientific considerations for the biosafety of the off-target effects of gene editing in crops)

  • 최근, 유전자교정 작물의 상업화 승인 건수가 급속하게 늘어나고 있으며, 국내에서도 유전자교정 작물의 개발에 대한 집중적인 투자를 통하여 국제경쟁력을 높이기 위하여 노력하고 있다. 그러나 기존의 유전자변형작물의 상업화 과정에서 끊임없이 제기되어온 인체 및 환경에 대한 잠재적인 위해성 논란이 유전자교정 작물에 대하여서도 제기되고 있다. 특히, 비의도적 돌연변이(off-target)가 가장 큰 논란의 중심이 되고 있다. 따라서 본 리뷰는 식물이 내포하고 있는 장점인 배수체, 체세포 돌연변이 그리고 자연 상태에서 아그로박테리아의 T-DNA 단편의 수평 전이로 창출된 자연적인 유전자변형작물과 기존에 상업화가 승인된 유전자변형작물 이벤트들의 게놈 내 비의도적 돌연변이 사례 등을 검토한 결과 유전자교정 작물에서 나타나는 대부분의 비의도적 돌연변이는 인체 및 환경에 미칠 수 있는 위해성을 우려할 만한 수준이 아니라고 할 수 있었다. 이에, 유전자교정 작물의 안전성 평가를 위하여 새로운 규정을 제정할 필요가 없으며 기존의 유전자변형작물의 안전 관리규정을 일부 "용어의 정의" 등만 개정하여 적용하면 충분할 것으로 사료 되었다.

High Throughput 프로세스에서 품질혁신의 성능평가를 위한 Z-Factor의 적용방안 (Implementation of Z-Factor Statistics for Performance Evaluation of Quality Innovation in the High Throughput Process)

  • The purpose of this study is to introduce the limit of previously used six sigma quality process evaluation metrics, $Z_{st}$ and $P_{pk}$, and a solution to overcome this drawback by using a metric based on performance evaluation of Z-factor quality innovation. Case analysis on projects from national six sigma contest from 2011 to 2012 is performed and literature review on new drug development HTS (High Throughput Screening) is used to propose innovative performance evaluation metrics. This research shows that experimental study on six sigma evaluation metric, $Z_{st}$ and $P_{pk}$, have no significance difference between industrial type (Manufacturing, Semi-Public Institute, Public Institute) and CTQ type (Product Technology Type CTQ, Process Technology Type CTQ). Following discovery characterize this quality improvement as fixed target type project. As newly developed moving target type of quality innovation performance metric Z-Factor is used for evaluating experimental study, hypothetical analysis suggests that $Z_{st}$ and $P_{pk}$ share different relationship or even show reciprocal relationship. Constraints of the study are relatively small sample size of only 37 projects from past 2 years and conflict on having interview and communication with six sigma quality practitioner for qualitative experimental study. Both moving target type six sigma innovation project and fixed target type improvement project or quality circle enables efficient ways for a better understanding and quality practitioner use by applying quality innovation performance metric. Downside of fixed target type quality performance evaluation metric, $Z_{st}$ and $P_{pk}$, is presented through experimental study. In contrast, advantage of this study is that high throughput requiring product technology, process technology and quantum leap typed innovation effect is evaluated based on precision and accuracy and Z-Factor that enables relative comparison between enterprises is proposed and implemented.

충돌 회피를 위한 소형 선박의 위치 검출 시스템 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of the Position Detection System of Small Vessels for Collision Avoidance)

  • 본 연구에서는 단거리 영역 내에서 대상물표의 정확한 위치를 파악하여 물표와의 충돌을 방지하기 위한 시스템을 개발하였다. 이를 위해 먼저 물표를 속도 모델과 가속도 모델로 표현하여 초기위치로부터의 움직임을 프로세스 잡음과 측정 잡음이 있는 상태에서 위치, 속도 및 가속도를 추정하였다. 추정기법으로는 칼만필터를 적용하였고 시뮬레이션을 통해 제안기법의 유용성을 확인하였다. 다음으로는 레이저센서를 적용하여 이동하는 물표와의 거리를 계측할 수 있는 시스템을 제작하여 물표의 이동 정보를 검출하였다. 이동 물표를 대상으로 속도 모델과 가속도 모델을 적용하여 실험을 수행하였고, 각각의 실험을 통해 불연속적인 측정데이터가 필터링을 통해 매끄럽고 연속적인 측정값으로 얻어지는 것을 확인하였다. 또한 물표 데이터의 계측과 디스플레이를 위한 UI를 구축하였으며, 물표가 일정거리 영역이내에 접근했을 경우 시각, 청각적인 경보를 울릴 수 있는 기능을 부가하였다. 본 연구결과를 통해 저가의 장비로 물표 위치의 추정 성능이 뛰어난 시스템을 구축할 수 있었다.

Reliability analysis of circular tunnel with consideration of the strength limit state

  • Probability-based design codes have been developed to sufficiently confirm the safety level of structures. One of the most acceptable probability-based approaches is Load Resistance Factor Design (LRFD), which measures the safety level of the structures in terms of the reliability index. The main contribution of this paper is to calibrate the load and resistance factors of the design code for tunnels. The load and resistance factors are calculated using the available statistical models and probability-based procedures. The major steps include selection of representative structures, consideration of the limit state functions, calculation of reliability for the selected structures, selection of the target reliability index and calculation of load factors and resistance factors. The load and resistance models are reviewed. Statistical models of resistance (load carrying capacity) are summarized for strength limit state in bending, shear and compression. The reliability indices are calculated for several segments of a selected circular tunnel designed according to the tunnel manual report (Tunnel Manual). The novelty of this paper is the selection of the target reliability. In doing so, the uniform spectrum of reliability indices is proposed based on the probability paper. The final recommendation is proposed based on the closeness to the target reliability index.

카메라 기반의 측후방 차량 검출 및 추적 방법 (A Method for Rear-side Vehicle Detection and Tracking with Vision System)

  • This paper contributes to development of a new method for detecting rear-side vehicles and estimating the positions for blind spot region or providing the lane change information by using vision systems. Because the real image acquired during car driving has a lot of information including the target vehicle and background image as well as the noises such as lighting and shading, it is hard to extract only the target vehicle against the background image with satisfied robustness. In this paper, the target vehicle has been detected by repetitive image processing such as sobel and morphological operations and a Kalman filter has been also designed to cancel the background image and prevent the misreading of the target image. The proposed method can get faster image processing and more robustness rather than the previous researches. Various experiments were performed on the highway driving situations to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm.
