  • Construction site fatalities accounted for 51.9% of the total fatalities recorded in 2020. It is known that the safety leadership of site managers is important in reducing occupational accidents at construction sites. According to previous domestic and foreign studies, the safety leadership role of managers has significant effects on the safety behavior and safety culture of workers. Therefore, in this study, we identified the factors affecting organizational trust, which are known to be prerequisites for building a safety culture, and sought ways to enhance organizational trust. In this study, measurement data were collected using a self-report questionnaire. A total of 4,373 copies were distributed to workers and managers of business partners who are highly likely to be exposed to occupational injuries, and 3,873 copies were used as final data for analysis, excluding insincere responses and non-responses. As a result of the study, safety leadership was found to have a positive (+) effect on organizational trust, and communication and motivation moderated the relationship between safety leadership and organizational trust. Therefore, for safety leadership to have a positive effect on organizational trust at construction sites, it is imperative that leadership participation includes communication and motivational efforts.

  • This study focuses on safety behavior among research workers and investigates the factors influencing their safety behavior. The selected variables for examining their impact on researchers' safety behavior are safety leadership, safety climate, and safety motivation. Surveys were conducted to analyze the structural equation modeling among these variables. The results indicate that the safety leadership of research supervisors positively influences the creation of a safety climate in research laboratories. Additionally, the safety climate positively impacts research workers' safety motivation and behavior. Therefore, to enhance the safety behavior of research workers, it is necessary to strengthen safety leadership education to improve the safety leadership of laboratory supervisors. The laboratory can enhance its safety climate by implementing management policies and safety regulations, fostering communication among members, and providing safety education.

This paper delves into the influence of CSR on safety behavior and its intermediating mechanism such as mediator and moderator. To be specific, the current paper examines the mediating effect of employee's psychological safety in the CSR-safety behavior link, also investigating the moderating effect of ethical leadership in the relationship between CSR and psychological safety. As expected in the hypotheses, the results showed that that CSR has a positive (+) influence on psychological safety, which has a positive (+) impact on safety behavior. Also, employee's psychological safety mediated the association between CSR and safety behavior. Lastly, ethical leadership moderated the CSR-psychological safety link.

  • Motivating employee work engagement, which has emerged as one of the most significant drivers of high performance and achievement in today's dynamic environment, has become essential in gaining a sustainable competitive advantage. As widely known, leadership is a primary factor affecting work engagement. This is also directly related to a specific style of leadership exercised. Leadership styles affect the work engagement levels of the employees. The distracting nature of leadership type can have adverse impacts on individuals' behaviors. To provide a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon, this article draws on social interaction theory and social exchange theory to investigate the potential effects of inclusive leadership on work engagement within the workplace, and the mediating role of psychological safety on the relationship between inclusive leadership and the work engagement. Here, psychological safety is needed by employees to avoid and manage negative feelings. SPSS and AMOS software was applied to survey data obtained from (n = 373) employees. Results revealed that inclusive leadership is a strong predictor for work engagement, and psychological safety partially mediates the link between inclusive leadership and work engagement. Implications for theory and practice alongside limitations are discussed.

  • This study is a one-group pretest-posttest design to evaluate the effect of problem-based learning (PBL) for patient safety on self-leadership, patient safety competencies, and reflective thinking of nursing students. The research was conducted from March 2 to April 15, 2022, in which 57 nursing students participated. PBL for patient safety was examined in a total of 8 sessions in the order of motivation, problem identification, task performance planning, problem-solving methods, summary and solution, presentation, and evaluation. The following topics of patient safety were selected for each team: nursing records, high-alert medication, medication error and intravenous fluid regulation, blood transfusion care, fall, bedsore, infection control, and pain management. We provided feedback on the learning process and outcomes of nursing students. According to the results, self-leadership showed a statistically significant improvement in self-expectations (t=2.60, p=0.01), goal setting (t=2.84, p<0.01), self-reward (t=3.32, p<0.01), and self-criticism (t=2.32, p=0.02). Patient safety competencies showed a statistically significant improvement in patient safety knowledge (t=13.05, p<0.001) and patient safety skills (t=4.87, p<0.001) but not in reflective thinking. The results prove that PBL for patient safety is an effective teaching-learning strategy to improve self-leadership and patient safety competencies. Future studies must develop and validate specific and long-term teaching-learning methods to improve reflective thinking.

Previous works on job insecurity have not paid adequate attention to the influence of job insecurity on safety behavior. The current paper investigates the impact of job insecurity on safety behavior and its intermediating mechanisms. In specific, this paper delves into the mediating effect of job stress, as well as the moderating effect of servant leadership in the association between job insecurity and job stress. The results demonstrated that that job insecurity has a positive (+) influence on job stress, which has a negative (-) influence on safety behavior. Moreover, job stress mediated the association between job insecurity and safety behavior. Furthermore, servant leadership moderated the job insecurity-safety behavior link.
