A design guide to minimize frost heave in unbound pavement layers over box culverts (저토피부 암거상부 포장의 도상피해 예방을 위한 단명설계)

  • During the whole month of December in 2005, Korea experienced both heavy snowfall and freezing temperature in southeast regions, which had caused frost related damages to many pavements laid on top of box culverts. In-situ observation revealed that the formation of ice lenses in subgrade and subsequent unbound layers led to upward heaving and transverse cracks in concrete and asphalt pavements. This has affected the long-term performance of pavements, as well as has threatened drivers' safety for a while. Recently, Korea Expressway Corporation has proposed a design guide to better protect newly constructed unbound pavement layers over culverts from frost heave. A trench drainage system has been selected to effectively draw off water and to alleviate pore-water pressure in soils during the coldest season. This paper presents experimental and analytical backgrounds behind this new design guide. Soil specimens retrieved from the sites are tested to quantify clay content and to estimate the permeability of subgrade. A 2-D ground seepage analysis has been conducted to better understand the changes in pore water pressures as a function of grain size. Finally, an optimum size of trench drainage is determined based on numerical analysis and workability in the field.

Road Accident Trends Analysis with Time Series Models for Various Road Types (도로종류별 교통사고 추세분석 및 시제열 분석모형 개발)

  • Roads in Korea can be classified into four types according to their responsible authorities. For example, Motorway is constructed, managed, and operated by the Korea Highway Corporation. Ministry of Construction and Transportation is in charge of National Highway, and Province Roads are run by each province government. Urban/county Roads are run by corresponding local government. This study analyses the trends of road accidents for each road type. For this purpose, the numbers of accidents, fatalities, and injuries are compared for each road type for last 15 years. The result shows that Urban/County Roads are the most dangerous, while Motorways are the safest, when we simply compare the numbers of accidents, fatalities, and injuries. However, when we compare these numbers by dividing by total road length, National Highway becomes the most dangerous while Province Roads becomes the safest. In the case of road accidents, fatalities, and injuries per vehicle km, which is known as the most objective comparison measure, it turns out that National Highway is the most dangerous roads again. This study also developed time series models to estimate trends of fatalities for each road type. These models will be useful when we set up or evaluate targets of national road safety.

  • VANET is one of the most developed technologies many people have considered a technology for the next generation. It basically utilizes the wireless technology and it can be used for measuring the speed of the vehicle, the location and even traffic control. With sharing those information, VANET can offer Cooperative ITS which can make a solution for a variety of traffic issues. In this way, safety for drivers, efficiency and mobility can be increased with VANET but data between vehicles or between vehicle and infrastructure are included with private information. Therefore alternatives are necessary to secure privacy. If there is no alternative for privacy, it can not only cause some problems about identification information but also it allows attackers to get location tracking and makes a target. Besides, people's lives or property can be dangerous because of sending wrong information or forgery. In addition to this, it is possible to be information stealing by attacker's impersonation or private information exposure through eavesdropping in communication environment. Therefore, in this paper we propose Privacy Assurance Architecture for VANET to ensure privacy from these threats.

Influence of Housing Market Changes on Construction Company Insolvency (주택시장 변화가 규모별 건설업체 부실화에 미치는 영향 분석)

  • The construction industry has strong ties with other industries, and so construction company insolvency also has a strong influence on other industries. Prediction models addressing the insolvency of construction company have been well studied. Although factors contributing to insolvency must precede those of predictions of insolvency, studies on these contributing factors are limited. The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of changes in the housing market on construction company insolvency by using the Vector Error Correction Model. Construction companies were divided into two groups, and the expected default frequency(EDF), which indicates insolvency of each company was measured through the KMV model. The results verified that 10 largest construction companies were in a better financial condition compared to relatively smaller construction companies. As a result of conducting impulse response analysis, the EDF of large companies was found to be more sensitive to housing market change than that of small- and medium-sized construction companies.

  • Recently, the ubiquitous is handled by maximum topic. New knowledge information and ubiquitous computing evolution have promoted new paradigm transfer and grand change. Also, need technology as powerful engineering approached fairly system and educational guidance side examination necessarily to overcome u-Learning base situation and studying obstacle situations. This treatise embodied handiness examination about attention shortage and excess obstacle (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, low ADHD) who must solve so as to be square and level being increase trend in primary school using USB (Universal Serial Bus) terminal system that allow fetters to OSGi (Open Service Gateway Initiative). That OSGi base USB terminal system is easy preservation of information, safety of network, cost-cutting and maintenance by various ubiquitous system that server that load many USB terminals and OSGi uses an USB bus of high speed and construct network, there is advantage of concentration elevation and so on of week and ADHD handled in this treatise because early diagnosis and treatment are serious. The confirmed system application that can supplement paper and pens examination's shortcoming and could solve examination's problem which use computer, and help in student guidance through ADHD simpleexamination who utilize OSGi base USB terminal system. Is available by game system that system for human nature examination or intelligence test and general exam explaining and level studying, order style question investigation program, studying system for disabled person, majority that enforce in public in school this study finding does together.

Development of Coupler for Live Cable Fault Detection Based on Reflectometry (반사파 계측법 기반의 활선 케이블 고장 검출을 위한 커플러의 개발)

  • When measuring live cable faults and their location based on reflectometry, a coupler is placed between the cable and the test system. This coupler prevents damage to the test circuits by indirectly measuring the live voltage of the cable using reflectometry. It also provides a coupling path that allows the transmission and receive signal to pass into the cable. In this study, we design and construct a contact coupler to locate faults in both dead and live cables using reflectometry. The proposed coupler is of the inductive coupling type and is constructed after the calculation of the signal transmission loss by simulation. The performance of the developed coupler is tested by measuring the transmission loss and frequency flatness. The results showed that the transmission signal loss is less than -1.98dB in the frequency bandwidth above 1 Mhz. The reflectometry system was designed based on sequence time domain reflectometry (STDR) and spread spectrum time domain reflectometry (SSTDR) in order to apply it to the detection of faults and their location in live cables and tests on live cables were performed. The test results showed that the proposed coupler can be used in a reflectometry system for live cable fault detection.

A Study on security characteristics and vulnerabilities of BAS(Building Automation System) (BAS의 보안 특성 및 취약점에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, due to the importance of information security, security vulnerability analysis and various information protection technologies and security systems are being introduced as a countermeasure against cyber-attacks in new as well as existing buildings, and information security studies on high-rise buildings are also being conducted. However, security system introduction and research are generally performed from the viewpoint of general IT systems and security policies, so there is little consideration of the infrastructure of the building. In particular, the BAS or building infrastructure, is a closed system, unlike typical IT systems, but has unique structural features that accommodate open functions. Insufficient understanding of these system structures and functions when establishing a building security policy makes the information security policies for the BAS vulnerable and increases the likelihood that all of the components of the building will be exposed to malicious cyber-attacks via the BAS. In this paper, we propose an architecture reference model that integrates three different levels of BAS structure (from?) different vendors. The architectures derived from this study and the security characteristics and vulnerabilities at each level will contribute to the establishment of security policies that reflect the characteristics of the BAS and the improvement of the safety management of buildings.

Study on Improvement of Oil Spill Prediction Using Satellite Data and Oil-spill Model: Hebei Spirit Oil Spill (인공위성 원격탐사 데이터와 수치모델을 이용한 해상 유출유 예측 향상 연구: Hebei Spirit호 기름 유출 적용)

  • In the case of oil spill accident at sea, information concerning the movement of spilled oil is important in making response strategies. Aircrafts and the satellites have been utilized for monitoring of spilled oil. In these days, numerical models are using to predict the movement of the spilled oil. In the future a coupling method of modeling and remote sensing data should be needed to predict more correctly the spilled oil. The purpose of this paper is to present an application of satellite image data to an oil spill prediction model as an initial condition. Environmental Fluid Dynamics Computer Code (EFDC) was used to predict the movement of the oil spilled from Hebei Spirit incident occurred in Taean coastal area on December 7,2007. In order to make the model initial condition and to compare the model results, two satellite images, KOMPSAT-2 MSC and ENVISAT ASAR obtained on December 8 and 11, were used during the period of the oil spill incident. The model results showed an improvement for the prediction of the spilled oil by using the initial condition deduced from satellite image data than the initial condition specified at the oil spill incident site in the respects of the distributed spilled area.

Numerical Investigation on Structural Behavior of a Lid with Stiffeners for Suction-installed Cofferdams (석션 가물막이 보강 상판의 구조 거동에 대한 수치해석 연구)

  • With increasing demand for large offshore infrastructures, suction cofferdams have been large, and the lid stiffener arrangement for a suction cofferdam has become a key element in cofferdam design to constrain the flexural deformation effectively. This study analyzed the changes in the structural behavior of a lid for a suction cofferdam due to lid stiffeners to provide insights into effective stiffener arrangements. By investigating conventional suction anchors, several stiffener patterns of a lid for a polygonal suction cofferdam were determined and analyzed. The structural performance of the stiffened lids was estimated by comparing the stress and deformation, and the reaction distributions on the edge of lid were investigated to analyze the effects of the stiffener arrangement on the lid-wall interface. Finite element analysis showed that radial stiffeners contribute dominantly to decreasing the stress and vertical deflection of the lids, but the stiffeners cause an increase in shear forces between the lid and wall; the forces are concentrated on the lid near the areas reinforced with radial stiffeners, which is negative to lid-wall connection design. On the other hand, inner and outer circumferential stiffeners show little reinforcement effects in themselves, while they can help reduce the stress and deformation when arranged with partial radial stiffeners simultaneously.

Effect of Nano Particles on the Hathcing rate of Artemia sp. Cyst (알테미아(Artemia sp.) Cyst 부화율에 미치는 나노입자의 영향)

  • 9 kinds of nanoparticle used for this study was a particle with the size of less than 100 nm of diameter, and Artemia sp. cyst examined what kind a influence to have upon the process hatched out in nauplius. 82% hatched in nauplius at the opposition ward where a nanoparticle wasn't added after 24 time course. AGZ020, Nano silver, P-25, Sb and SnO nanoparticle showed hatching rate of 18%, 20%, 13%, 50% and 0% respectively by the 20mg/L density, and it became clear that a harmful effect is big, but I had a harmful effect compared with the opposition ward by 75%, 60%, 73% and 73% respectively by Ag-$TiO_2$, In, Sn and Zn nanoparticle, but a feeble thing was known relatively compared with AGZ020, Nano silver, P-25, Sb and SnO nanoparticle. The difference was mused this with the ingredient a nanoparticle has. Ag is included 2% and AGZ020, Nano silver and P-25 nanoparticle are used widely as anti-fungus agent, and the SnO nanoparticle which became combination is a light catalyst pill, and oxygen is used for a Sn particle. This and others, a possibility that use is generalized and flows into aquatic environment in sequence the home electronics, functionality cosmetics, anti-fungus agent and a light catalyst pill at present becomes high for nanoparticles and others. The anxiety which has an influence on the ecology world in the water with this can be generated, so I'd have to study the potential danger a nanoparticle has continuously.
