콘크리트 전주의 경사지 전도 안전율에 관한 해석 연구 (Analytical study on safety factor of concrete pole installed in sloped ground)

  • We analyzed the sloped ground safety factor, which is not presented in the design specification, using a computational analysis program L-Pile Plus 13.8. To achieve this we chose a required parameter set and a level ground safety factor presented in the design specification, and then determined its values comparing with the change of the safety factor according to the parameter. Using these parameters, we estimated the sloped ground safety factor for the slope of 35 degrees considering the improvement value of the slope presented in the design specification. As a result of this analysis, we obtained the smaller safety factor by about 0.7 times than the case of the level ground and verified that a number of concrete poles fail to assure 1 degree of the safety factor. We, therefore, concluded that an adjustment of the embedment depth is required in the case of the sloped ground.

회전익기 연료펌프 안전성 평가 분석 (Safety Assessment Analysis of the Rotorcraft Fuel Pumps)

  • The system and components for aircraft are required the design data on which the safety requirements are properly reflected for their certification. This paper presents the procedure and results of a safety assessments analysis for the rotorcraft fuel pumps in oder to confirm and verify them. The fuel pumps design assessment must be performed, including a detailed failure analysis to identify all failures that will prevent continued safe flight or safe landing. In order to assess the fuel pumps design safety, not only system safety hazard analysis and but FTA(Fault Tree Analysis) for proofing the safety objective of the fuel pumps are performed. The results of the safety assessment for fuel pumps validate that no single failure or malfunction could result in catastrophic failure or critical accidents of the rotorcraft.

  • According to the increase of the requirement for the safety and environmental protection at sea, safety is a core design factor of maritime systems. Safety is defined as a perceived quality that determines to what extent the management, engineering and operation of a system is free of danger to life, property and the environment. There are many possible approaches in dealing with the safety of ships. The risk-based approach is one of the most systematic and reasonable way currently in design, operation and regulatory works for ship safety. This paper proposes a concept of total risk management for ship safety, and introduces a prototype system implemented based on this concept as a framework of design and operation of ships.

  • This study aimed to evaluate how universal design principles are embodied in the village community center. It will provide preliminary data on constructing a physical space of village community center as small community space in agricultural districts. To achieving the purpose in this study, the research conducted inspection using checklist to 25 village community centers at Hwasoon, Jeonnam province. The conclusion of this study is as follows: Living room and kitchen/dining room by supportive design urgently need installation of Western Style furniture and solutions of stair gap by accessible design, and also the evaluation is unsuited on a fire-gas alarm system and prevention of electric shook system on safety-oriented design. Entrance evaluated in principle for insufficient on safety handle by supportive design and spare chair by adaptable design, and also it unsuited on the solutions of door sill by accessible design and non-skid by safety-oriented design. Bathroom is insufficient lever handle and safety grip by supportive design, sink isn't suitable by adaptable design. Outdoor space information legislation staircase ramp installation and horizontal installation of the staircase was not built.

연구용원자로 기본설계에 대한 예비 확률론적 안전성 평가 (Aspects of Preliminary Probabilistic Safety Assessment for a Research Reactor in the Conceptual Design Phase)

  • This paper describes the work and results of the preliminary Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA) for a research reactor in the design phase. This preliminary PSA was undertaken to assess the level of safety for the design of a research reactor and to evaluate whether it is probabilistically safe to operate and reliable to use. The scope of the PSA described here is a Level 1 PSA which addresses the risks associated with core damage. After reviewing the documents and its conceptual design, eight typical initiating events are selected regarding internal events during the normal operation of the reactor. Simple fault tree models for the PSA are developed instead of the detailed model at this conceptual design stage. A total of 32 core damage accident sequences for an internal event analysis were identified and quantified using the AIMS-PSA. LOCA-I has a dominant contribution to the total CDF by a single initiating event. The CDF from the internal events of a research reactor is estimated to be 7.38E-07/year. The CDF for the representative initiating events is less than 1.0E-6/year even though conservative assumptions are used in reliability data. The conceptual design of the research reactor is designed to be sufficiently safe from the viewpoint of safety.

안전중시 시스템의 체계적인 설계를 위한 시스템 설계 및 안전 분석 활동 모델의 통합 (Model Integration of Systems Design and Safety Analysis Processes for Systematic Design of Safety-Critical Systems)

  • 고장으로 인한 사고 등으로 막대한 피해를 초래할 수 있어 안전성이 중요시 되는 시스템을 안전중시 시스템이라고 한다. 시스템의 대형화, 복잡도 증가 및 무인화 운영 등으로 인해서 안전 위해 요소가 증가하고 있기 때문에 안전성 확보는 국방 및 다양한 산업분야에서 중요한 문제가 되었다. 이러한 이유로 미 국방부와 IEC 등 국제표준기구 등에서는 안전 관련 표준을 만들어서 안전성 확보의 강조 및 시스템 설계와 안전성 분석의 연계를 제시하고 있다. 또한 많은 연구들에서 안전성 분석 활동이 반영된 시스템 설계 프로세스, 방법론 및 도구가 개발되고 있다. 하지만 현재까지 제시된 시스템 설계와 안전성 분석의 통합 프로세스는 각 계층 수준에 존재하는 시스템 설계 정보를 어떻게 활용하는지 명확하게 제시하지 하지 못했다. 그 결과, 체계적인 방식으로 위험원을 식별하는데 어려움이 따르게 되었다. 이와 같은 문제점을 해결하기 위해서 본 연구에서는 각 계층 수준의 시스템 설계 정보를 기반으로 위험원을 식별하여 안전성을 향상 시키고, 여러 산업 분야에 적용 가능한 시스템 설계와 안전성 분석 활동의 통합 모델을 생성했다. 통합 모델이 체계적으로 안전성 분석을 수행할 수 있는 것을 보여주기 위해서 자동차 시스템을 대상으로 적용한 연구결과를 제시하였다.

폰툰형 플랫폼 설계 및 구조안전성 평가 (Pontoon Type Design and Structural Safety Estimation)

  • 최근, 레저활동 인구 및 산업의 비약적인 발전으로 인하여 소규모 부잔교 및 계류형 폰툰 플랫폼의 수요가 급증하고 있으며, 연안에서 주로 사용되는 구조물에 대한 설계 및 구조안전성 평가에 관련한 표준 규칙 및 상세 규칙에 대한 제정이 시급하다. 이러한 문제점들에 대한 기본적인 해결책으로 본 논문에서는 설계 시 참고할 수 있는 설계 기준을 제시하고, 설계안에 대한 구조안전성 평가 절차에 대해서도 소개한다. 본 연구논문에서는 전장 15 m 폰툰형 플랫폼의 구조설계 과정 및 유한요소해석을 통한 구조 안전성을 검토하였다. 일반적인 10 m 이하 플랫폼의 경우, 간략한 구조계산서만으로도 검토가 가능하나, 10 m 이상의 플랫폼의 경우 상세 구조강도 검토가 뒷받침되어야만 기준에서 제시하는 안전성 확보를 위한 지침에 부합할 수 있다. 유한요소해석을 통하여 설계안에 대한 구조강도 검토를 수행하였으며, 그 안전성을 확인하였다. 추후 연구로서는 다양한 하중조건을 동시에 검토할 수 있는 시스템개발이다.

Design of a Smart Safety Vest Incorporated With Metal Detector Kits for Enhanced Personal Protection

  • Background: Personal protective equipment (PPE) has been designed in such a way to reduce accident rates. Unfortunately, existing PPE is rather ineffective as it is not able to provide warning signals when hazard is around. The integration of intelligent systems is envisaged to increase the efficiency of existing PPE. Methods: This project designed a safety vest incorporated with metal detectors which can provide immediate warning to the field workers when there is metal hazard around. This product has greater freedom of design via smart manufacturing as it involves the assembly of few commercially available parts into a single entity. Briefly, the metal detector is a do it yourself (DIY) kit, and the safety vest is purchasable from any local market. The DIY kit was connected to a copper coil and being sewed into the safety vest. Results: The metal detector induces beeping sound when there is metal hazard around. A total of 121 engineering students were introduced to the prototype before being requested to answer a survey associated with the design. Respondents have rated >3.00/5.00 for the design simplicity, ease of usage, and light weight. Meanwhile, respondents suggested that the design should be further improved by increasing the metal detection range. Conclusion: It is envisaged that the introduction of this smart safety vest will allow the workers to carry out their duties securely by reducing the accident rates. Particularly, such design is expected to reduce workplace accident especially during night time at construction sites where the visibility is low.

  • Based on the test data of Nippon Steel Corporation, the formulas for calculating mechanical properties of fire-resistant (FR) steel at elevated temperatures have been established. A practical approach for fire safety design of FR steel members, including axially compressed members, flexural members and eccentrically compressed members, is developed in this paper. Compared with the full-scale specimen experiments and FEM numerical analysis, this practical approach for fire safety design of FR steel members is demonstrated to be effective and precise.

  • Recently a rolling stock has been requiring more convenience facilities for passenger as well as satisfied the basic functions. The convenience facilities design take into consideration safety factor, convenience and easy accessible for disable passenger. In a point of view, convenience facilities should be considered and designed as well as related safety. This paper describes points to be considered on design with related to convenience facilities and safety factor of Diesel Multiple Unit for Intercity through the IRISH DMU.
