Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate the efficacy of Sacro-Occipital Technique with stroke on activity of daily living(ADL), leg function balance. Methods : Sacro-Occipital Technique at pelvic girdle was applied to six stroke-originated hemiplegic patients who had been treated by general oriental medicine rehabilitation therapy(sample group). The other five stroke-originated hemiplegic patients had only general oriental medicine rehabilitation therapy(control group). Outcomes were assessed by Modified Barthel Index(MBI), Berg Balance Scale(BBS) before and after treatment in each group. Results : Both sample and control group exhibited substantial improvements on the MBI and BBS. And BBS showed significantly meaningful differences between sample and control group. Conclusions : Sacro-Occipital Technique may be efficacious method of improving ADL, leg function balance of patients after stroke.

Objectives : This report intended to estimate effect taken by using Sacro-Occipital Technique on the patient with Herniation of Nucleus Pulposus(Central type). Method : From 11 May, 2005 to 30 June, 2005. The patient recived Sacro-Occipital Technique and Acupuncture therapy. Result : After being hospitalized for 50 days. the patient's Motor Grade, ODI, VAS, ROM were improved each from IV to IV+. from 26 to 20, from 10 to 2, and ROM with flexion/entension, rotation were improved each from 70'/0' to 90'/12', from 30'/40' to 45'/55'. Conclusion : We considered Sacro-Occipital Technique has an useful effect on Herniation of Nucleus Pulposus

목적 : 요통 환자에서 Sacro Occipital Technique(SOT)의 블로킹 기법을 침구 치료와 동시에 사용했을 때 Oswestry 장애 지수와 VAS의 변화 및 호전도를 비교 분석하고자 하였다. 방법 : 요통으로 내원한 72명의 환자를 대상으로 SOT 기법을 통해 하위 세 분류로 나누고 이에 따라 SOT 기법대로 침구 치료 시 블로킹 가법을 함께 사용하였다. 처음 방문 시에는 치료 전에 설문지를, 그 이후로는 치료 후에 설문지를 기입하여 변화를 관찰하였다. 결과 : 단독 침 치료군에 비해서 Category II와 Category III는 초진과 2차 방문 사이에 효과가 있었다. Category II는 초진과 3차 방문 사이에서 유의성이 더 있었으나 Category III는 유의성이 없었다. Category I은 단독 침 치료군에 비해서 효과가 없었다. VAS로 측정한 경우에는 SOT군 치료군 어느 군에서도 단독 침 치료군에 비해 통계적으로 유의미한 효과를 보이지 못했다. 결론 : 요통에 침구치료를 겸한 SOT 블로킹 치료는 선택적으로 효과를 보이며 그 가운데 Category II로 진단된 요통환자에게서 높은 효과를 보인다.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of treatment with Sacro-Occipital Technique block on musculoskeletal pain caused by traffic accident by analysis of the Visual Analogue Scale(VAS), Neck Disability Index(NDI), Pain Disability Index(PDI), Oswestry Low back Pain Disability Index(ODI) and Short Form - McGill Pain Qusetionnaire (SF-MPQ). Methods : This study carried out on 18 patients who have received hospital treatment in Daejeon Univ. Dun-San Oriental Hospital. Control group got acupunture-therapy, herbal medication, physical therapy and Experimental group got all the therapies and treatment with Sacro-Occipital Technique block. We measured VAS, NDI, PDI, ODI and SF-MPQ on 1st day and 7 days later. Results : After being treated by our methods, Both group were improved in VAS, NDI, PDI, ODI, and SF-MPQ. Especially, Experimental group was significantly meaningful improved in VAS, PDI, and ODI. Control group was significantly meaningful improved in VAS and SF-MPQ. But, differences between control and experimental group were nonsignificant. Conclusions : The results suggest that treatment with Sacro-Occipital Technique block is not significantly meaningful but gives a positive impact on musculoskeletal pain caused by traffic accident. But further long term study in a large scale is needed.

본 연구의 목적은 천골후두골 테크닉을 이용한 카이로프랙틱이 만성 요통환자의 통증과 신체기능에 미치는 영향을 규명하는 것이다. 만성요통이 있는 여성 45명을 세 실험군에 15명씩 무선할당하여 디버시파이드 테크닉, 천골 후두골 테크닉 또는 두 테크닉을 혼합하여 주 2회, 8주간 시술하였다. 무처치 대조군은 요통이 없는 건강한 여성 12명으로 구성되었다. 시술 전, 4주후, 8주후에 요통은 시각적상사척도, Oswestry와 Roland-Morris 요통장애지수로 측정하였고, 신체기능은 요부 근력과 유연성 및 체형으로 평가하였다. 처치 4주와 8주 후 대조군에서는 유의한 변화가 나타나지 않은 반면, 세 실험군 모두에서 요통강도와 요통장애지수가 유의하게 감소하였으며(모두 p<.001), 요부근력과 유연성 및 어깨와 골반 균형도 향상되었다(모두 p<.05). 결론적으로 천골후두골 테크닉과 디버시파이드 테크닉을 이용한 카이로프랙틱 시술 모두 요통환자의 통증의 경감과 기능 향상에 효과적인 것으로 사료된다.

무릎의 신전이 방해되는 이유는 여러 가지가 있다. 하지만 우리가 특별히 구조적인 기형을 환자에게서 찾아내지 못하는 한 넙다리근육 강화나 신전을 위한 하지 폄근육군 완화운동 방법을 알려주는 것 이외에 별달리 해줄 수 있는 것이 없다. 이 연구에서 저자는 Sacro-Occipital Technique을 활용한 무릎 움직임 방해 완화에 대하여 새로운 사례연구를 하였다. 이 연구에서는 무릎을 완전히 펴고 서지 못하는 14세의 여학생에게 7회의 S.O.T categoryⅠ. 방법이 적용되었으며 이로서 별다른 방해 없이 무릎을 펴고 설수 있게 되었다. 대체적으로 무릎을 곧바로 펴지 못하는 많은 경우 근육 연조직 마사지 등을 뒤넙다리근에 적용하여 완화 시켜 보기도 한다. 그러나 만약 이러한 방법들이 잘 듣지 않는다면 S.O.T categoryⅠ. 방법을 고려하여 보는 것도 도움이 될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.
