  • Cloud Computing is emerged as an effective reuse paradigm, where service providers operate hardware and software and as a service, and service consumers invoke the service through Internet. Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) is a type of cloud services, where the whole software is designed as a service so that several consumers can reuse the SaaS. While tradition software applications are developed for a specific organization, SaaS is developed for multiple users in the various organizations. Hence, reusability is very essential characteristic of SaaS. Reusability is defined as a metric of how effective and efficient software functionalities can be used by various users. Reusability in SaaS is evaluated by considering three sub-characteristics; applicability, adaptability, and scalability. Since such a SaaS has considerable differences and characteristics from traditional software applications, conventional methods including object-oriented modeling, component-based development method, and service-oriented architecture (SOA) service development method would be limited in developing services which can fulfill these three sub-characteristics related to reusability as well as SaaS-intrinsic characteristics. Hence, there is a great demand for effective processes for developing SaaS cloud services. In this paper, we present a practical process for developing SaaS, which focuses on ensuring reusability. And by performing a case study with our proposed SaaS development process, we evaluate applicability of our proposed process and explain how the process is used in a real domain. Then, we compare our proposed process with others for verifying our study. Through the proposed process, cloud services with high quality can be more effectively developed.

  • In this paper, our goal is to examine the factors of service quality and user's satisfaction in Software as a Service(SaaS). Based on the theoretical framework like service quality theory we develop and test a theoretical model, propose hypotheses and analyze the effects of SaaS' flexibility and customizability on the service quality and the satisfaction of SaaS' users. For this research, questionnaire survey was conducted with literature study and the PLS(Partial Least Square) was used to analyze the measurement model and hypotheses testing. The PLS analysis results indicate that SaaS' flexibility affects SaaS' service quality and the users' satisfaction and SaaS users' satisfaction is influenced by SaaS' service quality. Furthermore, SaaS' customizability affects SaaS' service quality, however, does not affect the users' satisfaction. Practical implications of these findings and future research implications are also discussed.

  • SaaS (Software as a Service) provides software in the form of service via internet rather than software package. Thus a large number of users could use the service of new type of software service as long as they connect to internet. SaaS, as a delivery model attracted in the software industry, grows with impelling force. SaaS has been adopted as an information spreading strategy of small and medium corporate so that its effect has been recognized in both academic and practical areas. However, there are not much researches about it because SaaS is still in the introductory stage. This study focused on the success model of SaaS to find out the factors that affect usability and the satisfaction of users. The sample is based on the on-line survey for the 549 government officials who are using SaaS. At last, the number of the employed answers are 157 after unqualified ones are removed. The result shows that Security, Service quality, Price and System Integration significantly affect the usefulness and the satisfactions of users.

  • This paper presents a state-of-the-art survey in ASP/SaaS Industry and the development strategy of ASP/SaaS business models which are issued as a new software distribution method recently. First of all, SaaS(Software as a Service) is defined as the evolutionary concept of ASP(Application Service Provider) and then the survey results of domestic ASP/SaaS providers and users are presented. In order to cope with recent and rapid If development environment, the development strategy of the ASP/SaaS business models is proposed. The development strategy suggested in the paper is used as a guideline for ASP/SaaS providers to enter into the new ASP/SaaS business and improve their competition.

  • The recent appearance and evolution of cloud service including IaaS(Infrastructure as a Service), PaaS(Platform as a Service) and SaaS(Software as a Service) is potentially one of the major advances in information and communication technology. While a lot of studies are currently taking place in the technology itself, there is an equally urgent need for understanding and researching the business-related issues surrounding cloud service. As more and more individuals and companies use the cloud service, their concerns are beginning to grow about just how safe and reliable an environment it is. This paper focus on SaaS as an one of the important cloud service. For successful implementation of SaaS service, it is necessary to establish the certification systems to ensure safety and reliability of SaaS. This paper provides the safe and reliable framework for systematic SaaS certification systems. In order to develop it, the critical issues related to service quality and certification of SaaS service are identified and the systematic framework for certification systems of SaaS service and service provider domains are developed. An evaluation methodology for the developed certification systems is also proposed.

  • A SaaS cloud service represents a model deployed and running on a cloud platform to enable users to use software as an online service. This work proposes a development methodology adequate for the effective development of SaaS cloud services. For doing this, we first analyzed the current state of companies developing SaaS cloud services and identified key factors for the development of SaaS cloud services. Then, we selected and tailored the methodology that is best suited for the development of SaaS cloud services among existing software development methodologies. To validate the applicability of the proposed methodology, we performed a case study tailoring the development methodology adequate for the company developing SaaS cloud services.

  • Software as a service (SaaS) is one of the most-talked about trends in IT. Unlike traditional perpetual licensing model, software applications are sold on subscription bases and services are provided over web by the vendors. It is said that SaaS can make vendors to invest more on R&D than on marketing while offering its customers better quality software applications at lower costs. By empirically comparing vendors providing their software applications either by SaaS or by traditional perpetual licensing model, we examine whether or not SaaS really increases overall customer benefits in terms of cost efficiency, software quality, and customization. We show that SaaS may not provide better quality or cost efficient software applications than perpetual licensing does. Then we provide two practical tools which are useful for customers to evaluate whether SaaS is better than perpetual licensing for the purposes of software applications they want to adopt.

  • Business organizations today have sought management effectiveness and efficiency utilizing information technologies. In particular, small and medium-sized enterprises short of information resources tend to rely more on outsourcing for accomplishing their own information strategies. SaaS(Software as a Service) has recently become one of the powerful outsourcing alternatives. This study tries to identify the influence of the SaaS quality on the service performance and loyalty. A SaaS quality model is developed including tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. Then they are hypothesized to have influence on the service performance defined as user satisfaction, individual performance, and organizational performance. Service performance is considered to have an impact on the loyalty to service. Findings from a survey to test hypotheses on the relationship among SaaS quality, performance and loyalty show these variables are significantly important to widespread adoption of SaaS.

  • Recently, SaaS(Software as a Service) as a new type of information systems has become popular. Many information systems practitioners and academics, consequently, pay their attention to SaaS. However, there are very few empirical studies on SaaS success factors because of its short adoption history. This study, therefore, tries to identify a variety of success factors of its adoption and examines how these factors affect organizational performance using an exploratory approach. For this purpose, this study collects data from 132 Korean companies and analyzes the relationship between success factors and organizational performance. Our results are likely to help provide useful guidelines for the successful SaaS adoption.

  • The global recession circumstances, cloud computing has emerged as a new paradigm in the business IT sector. This paper focuses on Software as a Service (SaaS) among cloud services. The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) has been popularly utilized for examining how users come to accept a new technology, but have not yet been employed to handle issues regarding SaaS adoption. This paper aims at developing an exploratory model that examines important factors affecting SaaS adoption of small and medium sized companies. The proposed exploratory model tests a number of hypotheses which integrate TAM related theories with additional imperative constructs such as marketing effort. Thus, the findings of this study can not only help company users gain insights into SaaS adoption, but also help SaaS providers obtain inspiration in their efforts to discover more effective courses of action for developing their service and improving marketing strategy.
