  • To increase the acceptance of multicultural youth, it is necessary to grasp the factors influencing multicultural acceptance. This study was conducted to provide basic data for a future study for the promotion of multicultural acceptance of adolescents by systematically analyzing research trends in factors affecting the multicultural acceptance of Korean adolescents. From 2008 to 2017, we searched 6,435 papers combining the keywords 'multicultural,' 'acceptability,' 'teenager,' 'middle school' and 'high school,' and analyzed six articles. The qualitative evaluation refers to Community Guide and STrengthening the Reporting of OBservational studies in Epidemiology(STROBE). The results revealed that factors influencing multicultural acceptance include gender, experience of overseas visits, life satisfaction, parental neglect and abuse, parent education, school and community factors, and community awareness. Multicultural acceptance of adolescents in Korea was influenced not only by specific factors, but also by various factors such as individual, family, school, and community. These factors were also found to change with age. Based on the results of this study, it is necessary to provide an environment and education that promote multicultural acceptance.

  • This paper proposes a metastability-free synchronization method and a mesochronous synchronizer for NoC. It uses the clock transmitted from TX as a strobe and solves the metastability problem by selecting one of rising or falling clock edge depending on the sampling value in RX when the phase difference between clocks is under a metastability window. The logic simulation results show that it works without metastability under $0^{\circ}{\sim}360^{\circ}$ phase difference in the synchronizer that a fault is inserted. The mesochronous synchronizer has a simple control logic and is suitable for NoC.

  • Recently, image signal processing techniques for HDTV signal have been drastically developed. This kind of skill improvement on signal processing need specific memory device for video signal. in this paper, data latch scheme which implements CMOS flip-flop to hold Information from in-put strobe and new reading method is devised to attain a proper access time suitable for HDTY signal. Compared with conventional write scheme, data latch method has two procedures to complete write operation : bit line write and storage cell write, enabling concurrent I /0 operation at the same address. Also, fast read access is possible through the method similar to static column mode and the separated read word line.

  • For two decades, there has been an active research to enhance the performances of Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) systems. However, the resulting systems are somewhat very costly, cumbersome and delicate. In this paper, we address the design and some first experimental results of a PIV system belonging to the opposite paradigm. The Miniature PIV or MPIV system feature relatively modest performances, but is considerably smaller (out MPIV could hold in dia. 40 mm$\times$120 mm), cheaper (out MPIV total cost is less than $500) and easy to handle. Potential applications include industrial velocity sensors. The proposed MPIV system uses a one-chip-only CMOS camera with digital output. Only two other chips are needed, one for a buffer memory and one for an interfacing logic that controls the system. Images are transferred to a personal computer (PC or laptop) via its standard parallel port. No extra hardware is required (in particular, no frame grabber board is needed). In our first MPIV prototype presented in this paper, the strobe lighting is generated by a cheap 5 mW laser pointer diode. Experimental results are presented and discussed.

  • The efficient hardware design of the the algorithm is important in wide variety of DSP. One example is OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) based WLAN(Wireless Local Area Network) systems which place high requirements on throughput and power consumption on FFT. The output RAM is composed of two banks of $64{\times}W.$ The banks are swapped immediately following the falling edge or the start signal strobe. This bank swapping allows 64-Point FFT to continue Processing samples and to continue filling the alternative bank, without affecting the data flow outputs.

  • Low power listening (LPL) MAC protocols based on duty-cycling mechanism have been studied extensively to achieve ultra low energy consumption in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Especially, recent ACK-based LPL schemes such as X-MAC employ strobe preambles and an early ACK, and show fair performances in communications and energy efficiencies. However, the state-of-the-art ACK-based LPL scheme still suffers from collision problems due to the protocol incompleteness. These collision effects are not trivial and make WSNs unstable, aggravate energy consumptions. In this paper, we propose two novel schemes; (i) ${\tau}$-duration CCA to mitigate the collision problem in ACK-based LPL MAC protocols. (ii) Short Preamble Counter (SPC) to conserve more energy by reducing unnecessary overhearing. We demonstrate the performance improvement of our scheme via a mathematical analysis and real-time experiments. Both analysis and experimental results confirm that our proposed scheme saves energy by up to 36% compared to the naive ACK-based LPL MAC protocol thanks to ${\tau}$-duration CCA and SPC.

  • Background: There has not been a general estimation about survival rates of breast cancer cases in Iran. Therefore, the present study aimed to assess survival using a meta-analysis. Materials and Methods: International credible databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, Science direct and Google Scholar and Iranian databases such as Magiran, Irandoc and SID, from 1997 to 2015 were searched. All articles covering survival rate of breast cancer were entered into the study without any limits. Quality assessment of the articles and data extraction were performed by two researchers using the modified STROBE checklist, which includes 12 questions. Articles with scores greater than 8 were included in the analysis. A limitation of this meta-analysis was different methods for presenting of results in the papers surveyed. Results: A total of 21 articles with a sample of 12,195 people were analyzed. The one-year, three-year, five-year and ten-year survival rates of breast cancer in Iran were estimated to be 95.8% (94.6-97.0), 82.4% (79.0-85.8), 69.5% (64.5-74.5), 58.1% (39.6-76.6), respectively. The most important factors affecting survival of breast cancer were age, number of lymph nodes involved, size of the tumor and the stage of the disease. Conclusion: The five- and ten- year survival rates in Iran are lower than in developed countries. Conducting breast cancer screening plan support (including regular clinical examination, mammography), public training and raising awareness should be helpful in facilitating early diagnosis and increasing survival rates for Iranian women.

  • We introduce an in vivo imaging flow cytometer, which provides fluorescence images simultaneously with quantitative information on the cell population of interest in a live animal. As fluorescent cells pass through the slit of light focused across a blood vessel, the excited fluorescence is confocally detected. This cell signal triggers a strobe beam and a high sensitivity CCD camera that captures a snap-shot image of the cell as it moves down-stream from the slit. We demonstrate that the majority of signal peaks detected in the in vivo flow cytometer arise from individual cells. The instrument's capability to image circulating T cells and measure their speed in the blood vessel in real time in vivo is demonstrated. The cell signal irradiance variation, clustering percentage, and potential applications in biology and medicine are discussed.

  • Objective: This study investigates the impact of multimorbidity on work through a literature review of longitudinal studies. Methods: A systematic review was carried out in the databases Lilacs, SciELO, PAHO, PubMed/Medline, Scopus, Web of Science, and Cochrane. There were no restrictions regarding the year of publication or language to maximize the identification of relevant literature. The quality of studies was assessed by the protocol STrengthening the Reporting of OBservational studies in Epidemiology (STROBE). Results: An initial database search identified 7522 registries, and at the end of the analysis, 7 manuscripts were included in the review. Several studies have demonstrated direct and indirect impacts of multimorbidity on the health of workers. For this, the number of missed days due to health-related issues was evaluated, as well as the reduction in work productivity of the unhealthy worker, vulnerability of the worker with multimorbidity regarding higher indices of dismissal and recruitment difficulties, and incidence of early retirement and/or receipt of benefits due to disabilities. Conclusions: Multimorbidity has a negative impact on work, with damages to quality of life and work productivity, worsening the absenteeism/presenteeism indices, enhancing the chances of temporary or permanent leaves, and lowering employability and admission of individuals with multimorbidity.

  • This systematic review aimed to analyze the clinicopathological profile and relevant prognostic factors of head and neck rhabdomyosarcoma in pediatric patients. The search was carried out in the electronic search portals PubMed, Lilacs, Embase, Scopus, and Web of Science. The search yielded studies that were then analyzed regarding study topic, data extraction, and risk of bias using the STROBE (Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies) guidelines. Finally, three studies were included for qualitative analysis. Most of the cases involved embryonic and alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma. Expression of MYOD1 was highly correlated with diagnosis of spindle cell/sclerosing rhabdomyosarcoma, which appears to have a poor prognosis in children. Furthermore, tumor size <5 cm and absence of metastasis accompanied by complete resection and administration of adjuvant therapies such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy favored a better prognosis.
