In this paper an experimental study is presented to investigate the effect of a step edge and a stationary droplet on the dynamic behavior of impacting droplet on a wall. The main parameters are the distance from the edge and the center-to-center distance between two droplets. Photographic images are presented to show coalescence dynamics, shape evolution and contact line movement. The emphasis is on presenting the spreading length of droplet for the step edge and two coalescing droplets along their original centers. It is clarified that the droplet exhibits much different dynamic behavior depending on the location of the step edge. The momentum of impacting droplet was better transferred to the stationary droplet as the center- to-center distance between two droplets was reduced, which results in more spreading of coalescing droplet.
This work presents a direct integration scheme, based on a fourth order finite difference approach, for elastodynamics. The proposed scheme was chosen as an alternative for attenuating the errors due to the use of the central difference method, mainly when the time-step length approaches the critical time-step. In addition to eliminating the spurious numerical oscillations, the fourth order finite difference scheme keeps the advantages of the central difference method: reduced computer storage and no requirement of factorisation of the effective stiffness matrix in the step-by-step solution. A study concerning the stability of the fourth order finite difference scheme is presented. The Finite Element Method and the Boundary Element Method are employed to solve elastodynamic problems. In order to verify the accuracy of the proposed scheme, two examples are presented and discussed at the end of this work.

The objective of this study was to determine the effects of "Green-one" organic nutrient on mycelial growth and fruiting of P. ostreatus. The dilution concentrations of "Green-one" was treated as follows. There was control, 100, 200, 400 concentrations. That treatments were treated with step of each mycelial growth step. The best of growth steps was mycelial scratching step. At that time, DPI(Day required for primordial formation after inoculation) was shortened for 1 day. Valid germination stipe are 15 pieces, 3 pieces more than control. Stipe length and stipe diameter was long each 4mm, 3mm more than control. Pileus size is shortened than control. Yields per one bottle(g/850cc) was 146g increased 6.5% than control 137g/850cc.
CFRP has been widely used for strengthening reinforced concrete members in last decade. The strain transfer mechanism from concrete face to CFRP is a key factor for rigidity, ductility, energy dissipation and failure modes of concrete members. For these reasons, determination of the effective CFRP bonding length is the most crucial step to achieve effective and economical strengthening. In this paper, generalizations are made on effective bonding length by increasing the amount of test data. For this purpose, ANSYS software is employed, and an experimentally verified nonlinear finite element model is prepared. Special contact elements are utilized along the concrete-CFRP strip interface for investigating stress distribution, load-displacement behavior, and effective bonding length. Then results are compared with the experimental results. The finite element model found consistent results with the experimental findings.
This paper describes a new algorithm for segmenting continuous handwritten signatures sampled by a digitizer. Signatures are segmented by three procedures. The first step is to calculate the pen tip speed. Then the Gabor wavelet is carried out on the acquired data from the first step. Finally, the local minima of the filtered output are selected as segmentation points of the signature. The proposed method is experimented with numerous signatures with various length and complexity.

Theoretical and experimental drawing characteristics for the step drawbead are discussed. The drawbead restraining forces and strains by the varous drawing angles are measured experimentally. Also, during the blank holding process, the strain distributions of upper and lower skins of specimens are analysed by the 2-D rigid-plastic F.E.M And the drawbead restraining forces and strain distributions for the drawn specimens by the drawing length are obtained by experiment.

In this paper, the (15,7) cylic codesused EG(2,2) were decoded by one step majority logic decoding. This decoding algorithm is based on the properties of finite geometries and can be simply implemented for moderate length n. especially one step majority logic decoding is attractive because the complexity and the cost of the majority logic decoder increase very rapidly with L, the number of decoding steps. The theorectical and experimental results show that the majority logic decoding presented in this paper is a relatively effective decoding scheme.
This paper aims at collecting the guantitative data of kenematic variables by analysing the gait patterns of the normal adult men and the handicapped. The gait motions were taped with 4 video cameras, the cinematographic analyses were performed by the DLT technique of three dimensional image treatment. The following results were obtained in the analysis of the variables: 1. The ratio of stance time and swing time did not show any significant difference in the groups of the normal men and the handicapped when both foot of the former and the right feet of the latter were compared. The stride peeriod time of these two groups were 1.12 and 1.11 second, respectively. 2. In the handicapped group, the step width was wider, the step length and stride length were shorter, and especially, the step length of the right foot was shorter, 3. The small vertical displacement of left toes of the handicapped group showed that the heal contact and the left midstance are almost simultaneous. 4. The two groups have almost the same horizontal displacement of the center of gravity and the same vertical rate of extension. In view of the velocity of the center of gravity the normal adults showed the constant speed of movement. However, the handicapped adults were reduced from the right midstance to the right toe-off. 5. The handicapped showed prominently low angle on the left toe-off in the ankle joint angle, they also had the tendency to walk in the patterns of extended knee in the knee joint angle. Both the handicapped and the normal had the hyperextension on the toe-off in the hip joint angle. In the back and front angle of body, both showed the slightly back-sided walking positions. 6. Both groups had the abduction of both feet in foot placement angle, but the handicapped did not show serious abduction of left midstance.
Purpose: This study examined the effects of action observational training to improve the gait function for patients with stroke. Methods: The participants were divided into two groups: right hemiplegia group (n=12) and left hemiplegia group (n=12). All groups received conventional therapy for five sessions for 30 minutes, each for three weeks. Left and right hemiplegia group practiced additional action observational training for five sessions for 20 minutes each for three weeks. They participated in three weeks of action observational training coupled with immediate physical practice (intervention), followed by a final assessment. The duration of each action observation video sequence was 10 minutes, followed immediately by practice of the observed motor skill (10 minutes). The gait velocity, cadence, swing time, step length, and BOS (base of support) were examined using the GAITRite system. Results: The results of this study showed significant improvement in the gait function. The outcomes of the gait abilities from gait velocity, cadence, swing time, step length of the affected side, and BOS (base of support) were improved significantly in the right hemiplegia group (p<0.05). In the left hemiplegia group, there was no significant improvement in the gait velocity, cadence, and BOS except for the swing time and step length of the affected side. The left and right group comparisons between the groups were not significant (p<0.05). Conclusion: Action observation training improves the gait function. These results suggest that action observational training is feasible and suitable for stroke patients.

Purpose : This study aimed to identify whether resistance exercise using elastic bands for six weeks can improve muscle strength, muscle tone, balance, and gait in patients with stroke. Methods : In total, 35 patients with stroke were randomly divided into three groups: resistance exercise using elastic band training combined with less affected side training group, more affected side training group, and both sides training group. Muscle strength, muscle tone, balance, and gait were assessed using a hand-held dynamometer, the modified Ashworth scale, the Berg Balance scale (BBS), and wireless 3-axis accelerometer, before and after training. Results : All three groups showed a significant increase in muscle strength of the lower extremity after training, and there was a significant difference among the groups. There was no change in muscle tone in all three groups. BBS scores increased significantly in all three groups after training, but these scores were not significantly different. The gait speed increased significantly in all three groups after the training, but the difference was not significant. The cadence increased significantly in Group 2 after training; however, there was no significant difference between Groups 1 and 3. There were no significant differences between the groups before and after the training. Step length increased significantly in Groups 2 and 3 after the training, but it was not significantly different in Group 1. After training, Groups 2 and 3 were significantly greater than Group 1 in the change in step length. Conclusion : The results show that resistance exercise using elastic bands can improve strength, balance, and gait in patients with chronic stroke. Especially, more affected side training was more effective in improving muscle strength than less affected side training. More affected side and both sides training are thought to be more effective than less affected side training to improve step length.
