A Study on the Information-Seeking Behavior of ST Information Users of the KISTI (KISTI 과학.기술정보 이용자의 정보추구행태 연구)

  • The purpose of this study Is to analyze and describe the characteristics of the information needs and information seeking behavior of ST information users of the KISTI. Questionnaires were distributed to the ST information users in the academic, industrial, and scientific sectors via mail. The role of the KISTI as the specialized information source and intermediary for other institutional information sources as well as individual users and the need for improving the strategies for customer-based services and collection development were evaluated. Major findings include the need for a more comprehensive effort to collect, preserve, and communicate the ST information resources. the need for much broader collection of journals and conference proceedings to provide the documents "on demand" for users, and the need to improve DDS in general.

Information Retrieval: A Communication Process in the 21st Century Library

  • Communication is a process involving a group of interrelated elements working together for the purpose of information transfer. This paper discusses information retrieval as a communication process in the 21st century library. The difficulties associated with access to recorded knowledge through bibliographic control devices have been exacerbated by the interposition of additional encoding processes in the library and further decoding by the users. In addition, the innovation of internet/web has revolutionized the means and mode of communication process in the library by flooding information seekers with information and creating an illusion of self-sufficiency in many users. With these changes in information seeking behaviour and pattern, a cybernetic approach to information retrieval has emerged emphasizing adaptive control mechanisms and feedback processes. This paper argues that libraries should strive to continuously remain relevant by keeping abreast with changes in the behavior of information users. To this end, this paper proposes apomediatic-cybernetic model of communication, which illustrates information retrieval processes for the 21st-century library.

ST Segment Shape Classification Algorithm for Making Diagnosis of Myocardial Ischemia (심근허혈 진단을 위한 ST세그먼트 형태 분류 알고리즘)

  • ECG is used to diagnose heart diseases such as myocardial ischemia, arrhythmia and myocardial infarction. Particularly, myocardial ischemia causes the shape change of the ST segment, this change is transient and may occur without symptoms. So it is important to detect the transient change of ST segment through long term monitoring. ST segment classification algorithm for making diagnosis myocardial ischemia is presented in this paper. The first step in the ST segment shape classification process is to detect R wave point and feature points based adaptive threshold and window. And then, the suggested algorithm detects the ST level change, To classify the ST segment shape, the suggested algorithm uses the slope values of the four points between the S and T wave. The ECG data in the European ST-T database were used to verify the performance of the developed algorithm. The best correct rate was 99.40% and the worst correct rate was 68.48%.

Information leakage in bi-directional IFD communication system with simultaneously transmitted jamming sequence

  • In this paper, we describe a simultaneously transmitted jamming (ST-jamming) for bi-directional in-band full-duplex (IFD) system to improve information security at the physical layer. By exploiting ST-jamming, each legitimate user transmits data samples and jamming samples together in one orthogonal frequency division multiplexing symbol according to given traffic asymmetry. Regardless of the traffic difference in both directions in IFD communication, eavesdropping of confidential information is prevented in both directions simultaneously without the loss of data rate. We first propose an encoding scheme and the corresponding decoding scheme for ST-jamming to be used by the legitimate users. In addition, we study a transceiver structure of the legitimate users including a baseband modem uniquely designed for the use of ST-jamming. The leakage of confidential information at an eavesdropper is then quantified by studying the mutual information between the confidential transmit signals and the received signals of the eavesdropper. Simulation results show that the proposed ST-jamming significantly reduces the leakage of legitimate information at the eavesdropper.

CC-GiST: Cache Conscious-Generalized Search Trees (CC-GiST:캐쉬 인식하는 일반화된 검색 트리)

  • 주기억 징치 DBMS성능에 캐쉬 미스가 중요한 요소이다. 그래서 캐쉬 미스를 줄여주는 캐쉬 인식 트리(chash consclous trees)들이 개발되어 왔다. 캐쉬 인식 트리에서 사용한 기법들은 포인터 압축, 키 압축 개념으로 일반화 할 수 있다. 포인터 압축은 CS$B^{+}$-트리처럼 노드에 각 자식 노드를 가리키는 포인터를 제거하고 대신 세그먼트에 저장된 자식 노드들 중 첫 번째 자식 노드를 가리키는 포인터를 저장하는 개념이다. 키 압축은 pkB-트리, R-트리처럼 키 길이를 출이는 개념이다. 본 논문에서는 키 압축 개념과 포인터 압축 개념을 동싱에 지원하고, 디스크 기반의 GiST를 캐쉬 인식하도록 확장한 CC-GiST를 제안한다. 본 논문의 공헌은 다음과 같이 요약된다. 1)기존의 캐쉬 인식 트리들의 기법을 분류하고 분석함으로써, 캐쉬 인식 트리에 적용할 수 있는 일반적인 방법을 도출하였다. 2)포인터 압축을 위해 세그먼트의 개념을 키 압축을 위하여 베이스 키의 개념을 CC-GiST에 도입하였다. 3)디스크 기반의 GiST를 위해 기정의된 메소드들을 캐쉬 인식하도록 완전하게 수정하였다. 4) 제안한 CC-GiST를 이용하여 기존의 대표적인 캐쉬 인식 트리인 CSB+-트리와 CR-트리를 구현하는 방법을 기술하였다.

Effect of electro-acupuncture ST36 on altered transmission of afferent somatosensory information caused by amyloid-β (전침(電鍼)이 amyloid-β에 의한 구심성 체감각 신경정보전달 변화에 미치는 영향)

  • Objective : This study is to investigate the effect of electro-acupuncture ST36 on altered transmission of afferent somatosensory information caused by amyloid-${\beta}$(A-${\beta}$) that caused Alzheimer's disease. Methods : The effects of topical application of A-${\beta}$, A-${\beta}$ with ST36, aggregated A-${\beta}$(aA-${\beta}$), aA-${\beta}$ with ST36 and ST36 on the afferent sensory transmission to the neurons in the primary somatosensory(SI) cortex was observed in anesthetized rats. Quantitative determination of the effects of A-${\beta}$, A-${\beta}$ with ST36, aA-${\beta}$, aA-${\beta}$ with ST36 and ST36 was made by generating poststimulus time histogram of evoked response of individual cortical neuron by electrical stimulation of the receptive located in peripheral area(forepaw) Results : The results obtained in present study were summerized as follow : 1. Application of physiological concentrative 0.5 nM A-${\beta}$ caused afferent sensory transmission of SI cortex facilitated. 0.5 nM A-${\beta}$ with ST36 exerted much stronger effects than 0.5 nM A-${\beta}$ alone. 2. Application of $10{\mu}M$ A-${\beta}$ caused afferent sensory transmission of SI cortex unchangeable. But $10{\mu}M$ A-${\beta}$ with ST36 is facilitated at 30 min of post-drug period 3. Application of $10{\mu}M$ aA-${\beta}$ caused afferent sensory transmission of SI cortex diminished. $10{\mu}M$ aA-${\beta}$ with ST36 is diminished after 15min of post-drug period but is facilitated after 75min.

  • In this paper, we propose ST-MWSK (space-time M-ary orthogonal Walsh sequence keying) employing MWSK which does not require channel estimation at the receiver. The computational complexity for the noncoherent ML (maximum-likelihood) detector of ST-MWSK is significantly reduced compared to that of ST-FSK (ST frequency-shift keying). Also, the performance of ST-MWSK is virtually identical to that of ST-FSK.

  • This paper introduces not only what the ST-IT convergent technology is, but also the present technological status of ST and IT in order that the ST-IT convergent technology may not be a simple topic of conversation but a key word of our country's new growth engine. This paper also describes a development direction for the technology convergence as some dynamic changes can be anticipated to create the new value and market because the wall between technologies and industries may be broken down due to the development of STIT convergent technology in the future.

A Review of Ecological and Natural Map Grades and Public Appeals in Korea

  • This study surveyed the changes in the proportion of Ecological and Natural Map (ENM) grades in Korea, the distribution ratio of ENM 1st-grade areas by region, and the current status of regional public appeals for the five-year period from 2017 to 2021. The nationwide changes in ENM grades revealed an increase in 1st-grade, 3rd-grade, and separately managed areas but a decrease in the ratio of 2nd-grade areas. Nationwide, Gangwon had the highest distribution ratio of 1st-grade areas, at 46.77%, while Gwangju had the lowest, at 0.05%. In the five-year study period, 383 appeals concerning ENM grades were received and processed. Gangwon had the greatest number of appeals, with 96, while Sejong had the fewest, with 1. A significant correlation was observed between the distribution ratio of 1st-grade areas and public appeals.

A Standardized Design Method of Weapon Information Exchange for Interoperability with Several Kinds of Command and Control System (이기종 지휘통제체계 연동을 위한 무장정보 처리 표준화 설계 방안)

  • In this paper, we have proposed a design method for standardization of weapon information exchange between a weapon control computer of guided missile system and a high echelon command and control system. Because the weapon control computer based on diverse combat platforms is operated with several kinds of a high echelon system, it is necessary to provide a standardized design method for weapon information exchange between mutual system. In fact, it is possible to standardize a interface design specification of weapon information message because weapon information message is closely related to standard tactical data link message. It is essential that the interface design specification of weapon information is submitted to that of tactical data link information. It seems that this interface design specification is very useful in development process of the future weapon system.
