Evaluation of Risk Level for Damage of Marine Accidents in SRRs using Inner-Outer Dependence Method (내부-외부 종속법을 이용한 수색.구조 구역의 위험성 평가)

  • In this study, the risk of SRRs was assessed upon the scale of the damage of marine accidents. For the risk assessment, inner-outer dependence methods and special knowledge-based fuzzy logic were introduced. Also, in order to calculate the importance of assessment value in this study, a max-min composition method was used for fuzzy logic based on the principle of fuzzy extension and the centroid of gravity method was used for non-fuzzy formation. In order to produce the importance of assessment items, the inner-outer dependence methods were used for assessment items, and markov analysis method was used for the importance of the final comprehensive assessment. As a result, the risk of SRR of Tongyoung, Mokpo and Yeosu was proven relatively higher, thus, it needs to have more rescue ships and rescue devices for relieving the risk in the future.

Front-to-Back Ratio Improvement of a Microstrip Patch Antenna Loaded with Soft Surface Structure in a Partially Removed Ground Plane

  • This study presents a new, simple method for improving the front-to-back (F/B) ratio of a microstrip patch antenna. The back radiation of the microstrip patch antenna is reduced by removing some metallic parts around the ground plane and placing a new soft-surface configuration, consisting of an array of stand-up split-ring resonators on a bare dielectric substrate near the two ground plane edges. Compared to the F/B ratio of a conventional microstrip patch antenna with a full ground plane of the same size, our proposed microstrip patch antenna experimentally achieves an improved F/B ratio of 9.6 dB.

  • This paper introduces the characteristics of relationship between probabilistic reliability (LOLE; Loss of Load Expectation) and deterministic reliability (SRR; supply reserve rate) for 2008 year in Korea power system. Korea power system has been using the LOLE criterion to determine the adequacy of installed capacity (ICAP) requirement. The criterion is that load shall not exceed the avaliable capacity, on the average, more than five day in ten years. The probabilistic reliability evaluation and production cost simulation program which is called PPHFHT was used in order to obtain the relationship in this paper.

  • In this article, new microstrip slow-wave bandpass filters using open loop resonator loaded with inter-digital capacitive fingers is proposed. The filter features not only compact in size, but also exhibits spurious stop-band rejection. Filters of this type with elliptic function and Chebyshev response are demonstrated. There is good agreement between experimental and full-wave electromagnetic (EM) simulation results.

Effect of Loading Split-Ring Resonators in a Microstrip Antenna Ground Plane

  • This study presents a new, simple method for improving the front-to-back (F/B) ratio of a microstrip patch antenna (MSA) based on surface wave suppression. The back radiation of the MSA is significantly reduced by using the meandered ground plane edges and placing split-ring resonators (SRRs) in the middle of the meandered slots. By loading SRRs near the center of the meandered ground plane edges, some parts of the diffracted back-lobe power density can be reduced further. Compared to the F/B ratio of a conventional MSA with a full ground plane of the same size, an improved F/B ratio of 18 dB has been achieved experimentally for our proposed MSA.

  • 멀티미디어 정보 검색 응용에 있어서 관련성 있는 멀티미디어 문서를 검색하기 위해 이미지에 대한 내용-본위 검색이 필수적이다. 이를 위하여 이미지를 몇 개의 인식 가능한 심볼 즉, 아이콘으로 표현하고, 주어진 문서를 대표하는 값으로 받아들여 색인을 한다. 사용자가 이미지에 대한 내용-본위 검색을 요구하면, 질의에 있는 이미지를 아이콘으로 변환한 후, 접근 기법을 통하여 원하는 이미지를 검색한다. 이를 위해 많은 아이코닉 표현 기법이 제안되었다. 본 논문에서는 SRR과 기존의 9DLT방법 및 SMR 방법과 검색효율 면에서 성능 비교를 수행한다. 마지막으로 성능 실험을 통하여 제안한 방법이 기존의 9DLT 및 SMR 방법에 비해 정확률 측면에서 약 0.1 재현율 측면에서 약 0.2 만큼 우수함을 보인다.

Affiliated Coordination of Rescue and Salvage in ASEAN+3

  • On May 12th, 2007 a merchant vessel of Golden Rose (South Korea) sank into near 38 mile from Yentai in China after the vessel collided with a container vessel of Jinsung (China), leaving all 16 sailors, including seven South Koreans, missing. According to the official report. The Chinese vessel, authorities, and South Korean government did not coordination q rescue and salvage for the sailors and vessel properly as follows: 1) The Chinese vessel left the scene without rescue and salvage of the sailors, 2) Chinese authorities failed to comply with law of the sea that required them to report the collision to South Korea immediately after confirming the accident, and 3) The South Korean government is also being criticized for its slow response to the incident since the government did not set up a response team until 21 hours after the incident. In order to reduce this number of sailor missing in future incidents, this research is studied regarding assembling conferences, assigning SRR in ASEAN+3, simplicity to enter other territory waters and cooperative training and education for the SAR.

Applied of Integrated Optical Biosensor based on Combination of Photonic Crystal Micro-Cavity and Ring Resonator (광결정 공진기와 링 공진기의 공진특성 결합을 통한 바이오센서 응용)

  • We propose a novel ring structure based on the stadium-shaped ring resonator (SSRR) with dual photonic crystal microcavity (DPCM) for biosensor and analyzed the sensing characteristics. The Q-factor of the photonic crystal microcavity (PCM) can be significantly enhanced when the PCM or DPCM has the same resonance condition as the SSRR. The simulation results show that the Q-factor of the SRR with DPCM was increased by three times in comparison with single PCM structure. We also defined a mutual interference between two PCMs. Assuming a detectable spectral resolution of 10 picometers, a refractive index resolution of $3.03\times10-5$ can be measured on the SSRR-DPCM.

Historical Long-term Exposure to Pentachlorophenol Causing Risk of Cancer - A Community Study

  • Background: Pervious studies suggested occupational workers exposure to pentachlorophenol (PCP) might contribute to increased risk of cancer. However, few studies have focused on associations between PCP and cancer risk at the community level. Objective: The present study was to explore the cancer risk for the community population living long-term in a PCP contaminated area. Methods: All the cancer cases diagnosed in 2009-2011 in Tongling City were collected. The cancer patients' residencies were geo-referenced in each district. The historical PCP usage for each district of Tongling was calculated as the PCP pollution index, which was further used to divide into PCP exposure categories. Standardized rate ratios (SRRs) of cancer incidence were applied to detect the cancer risk as exposure grade elevated. Correlation analysis was performed to analyze the relationship between PCP pollution and cancer incidence. Results: A total of 5,288 cancer cases (3,451 male and 1,837 female) were identified. PCP usage was correlated with the incidence of leukemia (r=0.88, P=0.002) for males, and with cancer of the esophagus for males (r=0.83, P=0.008) and females (r=0.71, P=0.020). Compared with the low exposure category, significant SRRs for total cancer sites was obtained for high PCP exposure category (SRR=1.61, 95%CI=1.59-1.62). Most SRR values of the cancer sites were significantly increased as exposure grade elevated and exposure time extended. Conclusion: The present study found that community residents living in the PCP contaminated area had increased risk of cancers. Leukemias, lymphomas and nasopharyngeal and esophageal cancers are most possibly associated with PCP exposure.
