  • The client request scheduling techniques for web server can classified into the scheduling techniques considering a document size to be requested and not. The scheduling techniques considering a document site to be requested provides a better average response time than another As the size-based SRPT(Shortest Remaining Processing Time first) is typical, and the most of scheduling techniques considering a web document size are based on SRPT. Most of existing researches, however, have not considered the feature of HTTP/1.1 which enable the clients to request concurrent multiple inlined-contents in a HTML document via each connection. In this paper we propose a connection scheduling technique with the scheduling window which provides a better response time in HTTP/1.1. The experimental results show that the performance with the proposed approach is improved about $10\%$ more than the connection scheduling with SRPT.

  • In this paper, we study the performance of recently popular multi-core systems in mobiles. Previous research on the multi-core performance usually focused on the desktop PC. However, there is enough scope to further analyze heterogeneous multi-core systems. Therefore, by extending homogeneous multi-core systems, we analyze the heterogeneous multi-core systems using Size Interval Task Allocation (SITA) for job allocation, and Shortest Remaining Processing Time (SRPT) scheduling, for each individual core. We propose a new computational method regarding the cutoff point, which is crucial in analyzing SITA, by calculating the sojourn time. This facilitate easy and accurate calculation of the sojourn time. We further confirm our analysis through the ESESC simulator that provides actual measurements.

  • In wireless networks there are various errors, caused by multi-path fading and interference between devices which lower the network Performance. Especially, performance of IEEE 802.IS.3 High-Rate WPAN (Wireless Personal Area Network) which is operated in ISM unlicensed frequency band is easily affected by channel errors. In this paper, we propose a scheduling algorithm which takes channel errors into consideration in scheduling asynchronous data traffic. The proposed scheduling algorithm can allocate CTA(Channel Time Allocation) proportionally in accordance with the requested channel time of each device. It also prevents waste of channel time by allocating CTA of the channel-error devices to other channel-error free devices. After recovering from the channel error, the devices are compensated as much as they conceded during channel error status. Simulation results show that the proposed scheduling algorithm is superior to the existing SRPT(Shortest Remain Processing Time) and RR(Round Robin) in throughput and fairness aspects.

  • 접속이 빈번한 웹사이트들의 서버는 동시에 수백개의 커넥션을 처리해야 하므로 효율적인 커넥션 스케줄링 기법이 요구된다. 기존의 SRPT(Shortest Remaining Processing Time first)를 이용한 커넥션 스케줄링 기법은 가장 짧은 처리시간이 남아있는 커넥션을 먼저 처리함으로써 각 문서에 대한 응답시간의 향상을 가져왔다.

  • Semiconductor wafer fabrication is known to be one of the most complex manufacturing processes due to process intricacy, random yields, product diversity, and rapid changing technologies. In this study we are concerned with the impact of lot release and dispatching policies on the performance of semiconductor wafer fabrication facilities. We consider several semiconductor wafer fabrication environments according to the machine failure types such as no failure, normal MTBF, bottleneck with low MTBF, high randomness, and high MTBF cases. Lot release rules to be considered are Deterministic, Poisson process, WR(Workload Regulation), SA(Starvation Avoidance), and Multi-SA. These rules are combined with several dispatching rules such as FIFO (First In First Out), SRPT (Shortest Remaining Processing Time), and NING/M(smallest Number In Next Queue per Machine). We applied the combined policies to each of semiconductor wafer fabrication environments. These policies are assessed in terms of throughput and flow time. Basically Weins fabrication setup was used to make the simulation models. The simulation parameters were obtained through the preliminary simulation experiments. The key results throughout the simulation experiments is that Multi-SA and SA are the most robust rules, which give mostly good performance for any wafer fabrication environments when used with any dispatching rules. The more important result is that for each of wafer fabrication environments there exist the best and worst choices of lot release and dispatching policies. For example, the Poisson release rule results in the least throughput and largest flow time without regard to failure types and dispatching rules.
