The physical origin of complex dynamic domain configuration in nonequilibrium magnetic systems with mesoscopic length scales has been studied. An increasing complexity in the spatial feature of the evolution is found to accompany the increasing reversal speed, when a ferromagnetic element is driven by progressively faster switching fields applied antiparallel to the initial magnetization direction. As reversal rates approach the characteristic precession frequencies of spin fluctuations, the thermal energy can boost the magnetization into local configurations which are completely different from those experienced during quasistatic reversal. The sensitive dependence of the spatial pattern on switching speed can be understood in terms of a dynamic exchange interaction of thermally excited spins; the coherent modulation of the spins is strongly dependent on the rise time of switching pulses.
Interactions such as mergers and flybys play a fundamental role in shaping galaxy morphology. We used the Horizon Run 4 cosmological N-body simulations to study the aligments of spins and shapes of interacting haloes as a function of the halo mass and large-scale density. Interactions preferentially occur in the plane of rotation, and in the direction of the major axis of prolate haloes, and the trajectories are preferentially radial and prograde. We found a very strong alignment of the shapes already at redshift as high as 4. The spins are initially unaligned or even anti-aligned, and become more and more aligned as the redshift decreases. The alignment signals are stronger and evolve more at lower densities, and mass plays a secondary role.
Due to the self-diffusion of nuclear spins, the edge of phantoms is enhanced in the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), especially in the case of microscopy [1]. According to several published works, theory has been established that the edge enhancement is caused by the motion narrowing around bounded regions due to diffusions of nuclear spins during data acquisition. It is found, however, that the signal decreases due to the diffusion attenuation and image is distorted as edge of the image is sharpened. In this paper, we wilt investigate this signal loss during data acquisition and its effects on image, i.e., image edge enhancement due to the diffusion phenomenon. This result is new and different from the previously discussed edge enhancement due to the diffusion, namely, by motion narrowing effect or spin bouncing effect at the boundary.
Here, I report solid state Dynamic Nuclear Polarization (DNP) of $^1H$ nuclear spins at 0.3 T and 4.2 K. The DNP polarizer was developed based on a commercial X-band Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) modified for DNP, in combination with a NMR console and a liquid-Helium cryostat. By detuning magnetic field, DNP spectrum was measured to find the optimal condition. At +3 mT detuned from on-resonance field, $^1H$ NMR signal of 60:40 glycerol/water frozen solution doped with 20 mM perdeuterated-Tempone was amplified 43 times. The $^1H$ spin polarization obtained at 4.2 K is over 3100 times higher than that at 300 K. The width of the DNP spectrum, which is five times broader than ESR spectrum, is inconsistent with solid effect or thermal mixing, and presumably suggests a different DNP mechanism.

Graphene shows diverse novel physical properties arising from its peculiar electronic states, so called Dirac electrons. Especially, effect of magnetic field is very unique, exhibiting exotic Landau level (LL) splitting. LLs are substantially modified by spins of Dirac electrons and pseudo-spins. The degeneracy of LLs is lifted to show splitting by electron-electron interaction and by the Zeeman effect. We investigated the magneto-optical absorption of graphene subjected to ultra-high magnetic field. Samples were prepared by the CVD method deposited on GaAs and Quart substrate. We have confirmed existence of graphene on each substrate by the micro-Raman spectroscopy. Next, we conducted magneto-absorption measurements in magnetic field up to 120 T by the single-turn coil (STC) method. We could observe absorption peak at 65 T and 100 T, respectively, probably arising from the LL inter-band transitions.
The original DANTE sequence and its variations have limitation in excitation profile (a sinc function-like excitation) due to the finite duration of the DANTE pulsetrain. This sinc function-like selection profile excites only a small fraction of the spins in the pixel thereby results in poor signal to noise ratio (only about ${\sim}1%$ of normal MR imaging sequence). Therefore, this poor signal to noise ratio (SNR) has been the main drawback of the original DANTE sequence. To improve the signal to noise ratio, phases of individual RF pulses in the DANTE pulse train were modulated so that more spins in the object were excited ($1{\sim}3$). We have introduced a new FM (Frequency Modulation) DANTE sequence and analyzed the signal intensity and excitation profiles.
One of the oldest, still unsolved, and often ignored problems in magnetic resonance remains the issue of how to observe undistorted, normal one-dimensional spectra where the frequencies and their relative intensities represent faithfully the distribution of spins and sites in the sample within the magnet. Often distortions in these parameters are accepted, as the price of sensitivity enhancement, or because it is unclear just how these distortions might be avoided. Surprisingly enough, the problem is exacerbated by the use of modern techniques of pulsed Fourier transform NMR. Noise spectroscopy is an approach to solving the problem of distorted NMR spectra, which is largely under appreciated; it promises virtually "unlimited" distortionless bandwidths without costly hardware investments. Nonetheless, its exploitation remains limited. We will discuss why noise spectroscopy belongs in the arsenal of tricks spectroscopists should be aware of, show examples where its use is essential if accurate, quantitative NMR is to be expected, and discuss some recent approaches which extend its applicability yet further, particularly in solid state NMR and in applications to quadrupolar nuclear spins.
For forest fire monitoring in relatively cool area like Siberia, design of Decision Support System (DSS) is proposed. The DSS is consisted of three different algorithms to detect potential fires from NOAA AVHRR image. The algorithm developed by CCRS (Canada Center for Remote Sensing) uses fixed thresholds for multi-channel information like one by ESA (European Space Agency). The algorithm of IGBP (International Geosphere Biosphere Program) involves contextual information in deriving fire pixels. CCRS and IGBP algorithms are rather liberal compared to more conservative ESA algorithm. Fire pixel information from the three algorithms is presented to the user. The user considers all these information in making decision about the location fire takes place.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the result of hardship performance of the propulsion speed on the flying carmel spins during a Figure Skating. The subjects were five the korea national representative players. Kinematic variables were analyzed 5frame of the excursion phase by the three-dimensional motion analysis system(60Hz). The obtained conclusion were as follows: In this study, during the propulsion classify two groups as "type I" the acceleration patterns S3, S4 and "type II" the uniform velocity group S1, S2, S5. The results of percentage comparative analysis between type I and type II can be summarized as below: the height of jump(24%), the height of COM(25%), the maximum speed of Roundhouse Kick(21%), the judging technical score(18%), the flight time(13%), the velocity of spins(4%), the distance of flight(-6%) Analysis of the results on performance variables, the velocity pattern of the type I showed comparatively excellence than that of type II.
