  • Currently, studies on the estimation algorithm based on compressive sensing are actively underway, but to the best of our knowledge, no study on the performance of the Sparse Spectrum Fitting (SpSF) algorithm in nonuniform sensor arrays has been made. This paper deals with the derivation of the compressive sensing based covariance fitting algorithm extended to the frequency domain. In addition, it shows the performance of directon-of-arrival estimation of the frequency domain SpSF algorithm in non-uniform linear sensor array system and the sensor array failure situation.

  • In this paper, an Information Security protocol in LLC/MAC Layer Architecture is discussed. This paper examines the security Vulnerability and threats, the security Service required to protect these threats, and architectural considerations of security protocol in IEEE 802 LAN architecture. To provide an Information security service, an information security protocol(SP2 : Security Protocol 2) PDU construction with LLC/MAC service primitives is suggested. To construct the SP2 protocol, the ECB, CBC mode of DES algorithm and DAA(Data Authentication Algorithm) of FIPS is used. The SP2 protocol suggested in this paper provides data origin authentication, data confidentiality, data integrity service.

  • Use of the Gaussian inverse Wishart PHD (GIW-PHD) filter has demonstrated promise as an approach to track an unknown number of extended targets. However, the partitioning approaches used in the GIW-PHD filter, such as distance partition with sub-partition (DP-SP), prediction partition (PP) and expectation maximization partition (EMP), fails to provided accurate partition results when targets are spaced closely together and performing maneuvers. In order to improve the performance of a GIW-PHD filter, this paper presents a cooperation partitioning (CP) algorithm to solve the partitioning issue when targets are spaced closely together. In the GIW-PHD filter, the DP-SP is insensitive to target maneuvers but sensitive to the differences in target sizes, while EMP is the opposite. The proposed CP algorithm is a fusion approach of DP-SP and EMP, which employs EMP as a sub-partition approach after DP. Therefore, the CP algorithm will be sensitive to neither target maneuvers nor differences in target sizes. The simulation results show that the use of the proposed CP algorithm will improve the performance of the GIW-PHD filter when targets are spaced closely together.

  • This paper proposes an initial rotor polarity detection algorithm of a single-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor (SP-PMSM) related to stable open-loop starting for sensorless operation. Generally, the SP-PMSM needs an asymmetric air-gap structure to can avoid the initial starting failure at zero torque point. Therefore, the rotor polarity information can be obtained by using the DC offset current direction of a stator current through a high frequency voltage injection into an SP-PMSM with an asymmetric air gap. In this paper, the proposed rotor initial polarity detection algorithm is verified through several experimental results.

  • SpSF algorithm is direction-of-arrival estimation algorithm based on sparse representation of incident signlas. Cost function to be optimized for DOA estimation is multi-dimensional nonlinear function, which is hard to handle for optimization. After some manipulation, the problem can be cast into convex optimiztion problem. Convex optimization problem tuns out to be constrained optimization problem, where the parameter in the constraint has to be determined. The solution of the convex optimization problem is dependent on the specific parameter value in the constraint. In this paper, we propose a rule-of-thumb for determining the parameter value in the constraint. Based on the fact that the noise in the array elements is complex Gaussian distributed with zero mean, the average of the Frobenius norm of the matrix in the constraint can be rigorously derived. The parameter in the constrint is set to be two times the average of the Frobenius norm of the matrix in the constraint. It is shown that the SpSF algorithm actually works with the parameter value set by the method proposed in this paper.

  • Several algorithms have been developed to detect AF which rely either on the form of P waves or the based on the time frequency domain analysis of RR variability. However, locating the P wave fiducial point is very difficult because of the low amplitude of the P wave and the corruption by noise. Also, the time frequency domain analysis of RR variability has disadvantage to get the details of irregular RR interval rhythm. In this study, we describe an atrial fibrillation detection algorithm through non-linear analysis of irregular RR interval rhythm based on the variability, randomness and complexity. We employ a new statistical techniques root mean squares of successive differences(RMSSD), turning points ratio(TPR) and sample entropy(SpEn). The detection algorithm was tested using the optimal threshold on two databases, namely the MIT-BIH Atrial Fibrillation Database and the Arrhythmia Database. We have achieved a high sensitivity(Se:94.5%), specificity(Sp:96.2%) and Se(89.8%), Sp(89.62%) respectively.

  • This paper presents an approach to detect arrhythmia using heart rate variability and a fuzzy neural network. The proposed algorithm diagnoses arrhythmia using 32 RR-intervals that are 25 seconds on average. We extract six statistical values from the 32 RR-intervals, which are used to input data of the fuzzy neural network. This paper uses the neural network with weighted fuzzy membership functions(NEWFM) to diagnose arrhythmia. The NEWFM used in this algorithm classifies normal and arrhythmia. The performances by Tsipouras using the 48 records of the MIT-BIH arrhythmia database was below 80% of SE(sensitivity) and SP(specificity) in both. The detection algorithm of arrhythmia shows 88.75% of SE, 82.28% of SP, and 86.31% of accuracy.

  • This paper is to propose image segmentation method based on chamfer algorithm. First, we get original image from CCD camera and transform it into gray image. Second, we extract maximum gray value of background and reconstruct and eliminate the background using surface fitting method and bilinear interpolation. Third, we subtract the reconstructed background from gray image to remove noises in gray image. Fourth, we transform the subtracted image into binary image using Otsu's optimal thresholding method. Fifth, we use morphological filters such as areaopen, opening, filling filter etc. to remove noises and isolated points. Sixth, we use chamfer distance or Euclidean distance to this filtered image. Finally, we use watershed algorithm and count microorganisms in image by labeling. To prove the effectiveness, we apply the proposed algorithm to one of Ammonia-oxidizing bacteria, Acinetobacter sp. It is shown that both Euclidean algorithm and chamfer algorithm show over-segmentation. But Chamfer algorithm shows less over-segmentation than Euclidean algorithm.
