Natural state materials contain a lot of available nutrient components. Among them, natural nutrient substances are utilized not only as the ingredient of functional foods but also as the excipients of functional cosmetics and pharmaceutic. Of these nutrient substances, solubility parameters of each components were calculated to choose the most suitable solvents for solutions. The solubility parameters for each components were composed of the dispersion contribution of the molecular attractive function, the polar contribution of the molecular attractive function and the contribution of the hydrogen bonding force. The chi parameters ($\chi_{12}$) were calculated with the information of the solubility parameter for the solute and solvent and were used as the criteria for the optimal solute-solvent pair. The optimal solvents were suggested with the numerical values of chi parameters for some amino acids.

In the make-up product, Eye-shadow products have several purposes of enhancing product quality such as providing the beauty (variation of shape, clean appearance), feeling, continuity and adhesion. In this paper, newly developed wet type back injection press process is introduced so as to increase higher value products which providing various the beauty. The solvent takes an essential role to provide the fluidity of the powder bulk during the pressed-process of wet type pressed product. In this study, the effect of solvent in the oil binder was investigated, And the higher quality condition of the wet type pressed product was built to apply cosmetic preparation. Firstly, the system was designed powder phase as non treated pigment. The oil binder phase is categorized as hydrocarbons(Mineral oil, Squalane), Silicones(Methicone, Dimethicone ), esters (Octyldodecanol, Octyl Dodecyl Myristate). The solvent phase used was C 7-8 isoparaffin and Isopropyl Alcohol. The interaction of oil binder and solvent is investigated by measuring mass of final oil binder and the each solubility parameter. It was found that the higher the solubility the higher the degree of change in the final composition of the oil binder. In order to maintain the quality of the final product, the solvent used in pressed-process should be hydrophobic with oil binder.

Acetylated Cellulose Ether (ACE), cellulose-based amphiphilic polymer with hydrophilic and hydrophobic, was synthesized and investigated in terms of its solubility and wettability for organic solvents and water. Acetyl group was substituted to the cellulose ether in a hydrophilic polymer by esterification. As a result of FT-IR, the peak corresponding to the hydroxyl group decreased and carboxyl acid peak increased with increasing reaction time and temperature, which signified the increase in the degree of acetylation of the ACE. There were similar thermal decomposition behaviors before and after esterification reaction until $800^{\circ}C$ so that the reaction occurred without significant structural changes of cellulose backbones. The solubility parameter of the ACE had a range of 18.5~26.4, and its viscosity and turbidity were controlled according to the solubility parameter of organic solvents. The ACE showed the hydrophilicity because the contact angle of the ACE was higher than the cellulose ether. These results confirmed that the ACE had the hydrophobicity and hydrophilicity due to the ether which was glucosidic bonding between the glucose units and un-reacted hydroxyl functional groups in the ACE.

The solubility of H2S is an important parameter for modeling H2S absorption. Since the direct measurement of H2S solubility in aqueous amine solutions is impossible, this work initially attempted to develop an H2S analogy method, however, this was unsuccessful. Consequently, H2S solubilities were measured in aqueous amines which were completely protonated with HCI over a temperature range of 25-60℃. The solvents investigated in this work included 0-50% aqueous solutions of methyldiethanolamine and diethanolamine. Thereafter, a new empirical correlation was developed that can predict Henry's constant for H2S using only the solubility of H2S in water and t도 molecular weight of the aqueous solvent.

In recent years, polymer membranes, which are actively used in various industrial fields, have the advantage of being able to impart unique properties through the control of chemical structures and physical properties in the film-fabrication process, as well as through fabricating blend membranes mixed with various materials. In this study, the solubility parameter, which can be used as an index of miscibility with other materials, was calculated using molecular dynamics using a silkworm (Bombyx mori) silk polymer which has a wide potential to be used as an eco-friendly natural material. When the solubility parameter of polyvinylalcohol (PVA), which is also environmentally friendly and biocompatible, was calculated by molecular dynamics and compared with each other, it was confirmed that the two polymer materials had similar solubility parameter values. In conclusion, it was theoretically proved that the two polymers could blend well with each other, which was confirmed through experiments.
Solubilities of carbon dioxide (C$O_2$) in a series of fluorine-free room temperature ionic liquids (RTILs), dialkylimidazolium dialkylphosphates and dialkylimidazolium alkylphosphites, were measured at 313∼333 K and pressures up to 5 MPa. Henry’s law coefficients as the solubility parameter of C$O_2$ in RTILs were derived from the isotherm of fugacity versus C$O_2$ mole fraction. The C$O_2$ solubility in a phosphorus-containing RTIL was found to increase with the increasing molar volume of the RTIL. In general, dialkylimidazolium dialkylphosphate exhibited higher absorption capacity than dialkylimidazolium alkylphosphite as long as the RTILs possess an identical cation. Among RTILs tested, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium dibutylphosphate [BMIM][B$u_2PO_4$] and 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium butylphosphite [BMIM][BuHP$O_3$] exhibited similar Henry’s law coefficients to 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bis (trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide ([BMIM][T$f_2$N]) and 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([BMIM][B$F_4$]), respectively. The Krichevsky-Kasarnovsky equation was employed to derive the C$O_2$ solubility parameter (Henry’s law coefficient) from the solubility data measured at elevated pressures.

Solubilities of oleanolic acid and ursolic acid in aqueous surfactant solutions, liquid polyethylene glycols (PEG), and solvents of various polarity were measured. The results showed that the solutes were slightly or moderately solubilized in the surfactant solutions and the liquid PEGS. It was also revealed that the solutes were slightly soluble in the solvent of either extreme polarity or nonpolarity, but moderately soluble in solvents of intermediate polarity of which solubility parameters are around 10. The solubility parameters of these solutes were calculated from the group contribution to be 10.2 for both of them. Of the solvents tested, tetramethylurea was exceptionally effective in solubilizing the solutes. The solutes were also moderately soluble in the aqueous cosolvents containing tetramethylurea. This suggests that the mixed systems of tetramethylurea could be employed for the solubilization in the formulation of these compounds as an aqueous system.
In physical and reactive extraction of acrylic acid using various solvents the equilibrium characteristics of extraction were investigated. The degree of extraction in reactive extraction with Tri-n-octylamine(TOA) was 1.5~3 times than that in physical extraction. Distribution ratio was constant in methyl isobutyl ketone(MIBK) and n-butylacetate(n-BAc) but was increased with increasing the concentration of acrylic acid in benzene and chloroform. It can be explained by formation of dimers. Maximum extraction leadings of acrylic acid were three in benzene and were two in MIBK, chloroform and n-BAc, and it was found that acrylic acid was extracted as the form of $A_3$R In benzene and $A_2R$ in MIBK, chloroform and n-BAc. In effect of solvent, the degree of extraction was increased as he difference of solubility parameter of solvent and solute was decreased, and as dielectric constant of solvent was increased.

The study aimed at the theoretical analysis of vapor sorption properties of, pp.rmaking fibers. Water vapor affinity and sorption thermodynamic properties of fiber constituents were evaluated based on Henry's law and Hildebrand's solubility theory. Theoretical equilibrium moisture content(ThEMC) on fiber surface was estimated using functional group contribution. Crystallinity of cellulose in fiber significantly controlled the water vapor solubility. Comparisons of the measured equilibrium moisture content data and the estimated ThEMC data coincidently suggested the fact that crystallinity of cellulose in fibers was around 60% to 70%. Carbohydrates constituents including amorphous cellulose and hemicellulose in fibers showed higher vapor solubility than lignin molecules. High correlation existed between ThEMC and vapor solubility as well as between ThEMC and solubility parameter. In the thermodynamic analysis on water-vapor sorption process in fibers, the sorption enthalpy increased as RH increased, whereas sorption entropy and free energy decreased with increasing RH.
