Development of Personal Character Analyzing Application Based on the Opened Information at the Social Media (소셜미디어에 공유한 정보를 통한 개인 성격유형 분석 앱 개발)

  • The amount of personal information has increased dramatically due to the prevalent use of smartphones and the rapid growth of social networking services. Under these circumstances, there has been a lot of efforts to obtain new information based on the overflowing personal data. The conventional character analysis method, which heavily relies on personal surveys, had some limitations in that it was difficult for psychologist to have a complete access to the surveyed results. When it comes to celebrities, however, it is relatively easy to access to their information through various media. Therefore there has been various researches that examined celebrities' personalities. On the contrary, not many studies have focused on analyzing the characteristics of the general public whose information is not so accessible. In this research, we suggest a method to analyze ordinary people's characteristics based on information available via their social networking services. This research focuses on developing a Facebook-native application, which examines the user's character type based on the posts shared in the user's Facebook page.

Investigating the use of multiple social networking services: A cross-cultural perspective in the United States and Korea

  • The rise in recent technology has changed the ways, in which people communicate with one another. Social networking services (SNSs) have become one of the most representative means. General SNSs allow users to create their own unique profiles, search for fellow members, share information, etc., while other SNSs have functions that cater to different needs of users. As a result, users of SNSs have begun to pick and choose different SNSs and concurrently use multiple SNSs in order to fulfill all their needs. This exploratory study examined which SNSs are used together and the characteristics that predict the use of multiple SNSs. In addition, it observed the differences between consumers' usage of multiple SNSs in different cultures. An online survey was administered to SNS users in the United States and Korea. The results of the study showed that the use of multiple SNSs is not yet prevalent in Korea, the country that represented a collectivistic culture. In addition, in the U.S., the highest number of users reported that they were active on at least three SNSs.

Are Online and Offline Delinquency Mutually Exclusive? Blurred Boundaries between Cyber Space and the Real-World

  • This study examines the similarities and differences between the causes of juvenile delinquency in online and offline environments and in personal characteristics. The study utilizes data from the '2014 Survey on Juvenile Victimization in Korea'. The population of this survey is students attending middle and high schools across the country. While this paper is based on the Self-Control theory, opportunity factors based on the Routine Activity theory and the Situational Action theory are also applied. Results show that the causes of offline delinquency are low self-control, routine activity and frequent gaming and SNS use. The causes of online delinquency are high self-control, existence of communication with unknown persons and the spectrum of personal information online. The common element of offline and online delinquency was the presence of delinquent peers. These results show that while online and offline delinquency cannot be explained with the same methodology, at the same time they are not mutually exclusive.

  • This study is for analyzing the tone, the frame and the characteristics of political news in social media. Social news media is not same as old media in sharing news freely by SNS like tweeter, facebook and reporting, editing by anyone using SNS with various opinions. With Content analysis, sampling 419 cases from 'Wikitree' by the keyword, 'presidential election', all the full text analysed each how is social media making public opinion differently and which frame is using in. As the result, the social media has different tone, frame, and characteristic due to the reported figure, type of report, information source, attitude to the government, specifically shows a lack of in-depth report and distinct soft-journalism just same as old media's. Because the tone of social news media is not probable, specific but improbable, vague, using the irrational, strategic and episodic frame mainly.

  • As part of an effort to derive measures to prevent school violence, which is continuously emphasized in the school field, this study tried to examine the topic that has recently become an issue related to school violence from the perspective of data science. In particular, it was attempted to crawl posts related to school violence using online SNS data and examine the characteristics of each type by using the topic modeling method. As a result of arranging the keywords for each topic derived from the topic modeling analysis by type, it was possible to divide the contents into three main categories: prevention of school violence, punishment of perpetrators, and measures to be taken. First, as the contents of school violence prevention activities, it is the contents of the role of specialized organizations for the prevention of school violence. Second, it was derived from the contents of measures and procedures for school violence. Third, it was possible to examine the contents of recent issues of school violence. In future research, it is necessary to conduct research that is used to solve the social problems facing based on data-based prediction.

  • The Korea Agency of Education, Promotion and Information Service in Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries launched a public data portal service in January 2015. The service provides customized information for consumers through an agri-food recommendation system built-in portal service. The recommendation system has fallowing characteristics. First, the system can increase recommendation accuracy by using a wide variety of agri-food related data, including SNS opinion mining, consumer's purchase data, climate data, and wholesale price data. Second, the system uses segmentation method based on consumer's lifestyle and megatrends factors to overcome the cold start problem. Third, the system recommends agri-foods to users reflecting various preference contextual factors by using recommendation algorithm, dirichlet-multinomial distribution. In addition, the system provides diverse information related to recommended agri-foods to increase interest in agri-food of service users.

  • The rapid growth and popularity of Twitter have been one of the most influential phenomena in the era of social network system and the mobile internet, which also opens up opportunities for new business strategies; in particular, PR and marketing area. This study analyzed use of Twitter in terms of user characteristics and message attributes. Actual field data from the Twitter for PR and Marketing of a representative Korean IT company (Company "K") was used for this analysis. Research findings show that overall corporate twitter users show passive attitude in retweet behavior. Also, users who have relatively small network size (less than 1,000) are more active in retweet than power twitterians that have big network size(over than 10,000). It is showed that the rate of retweet is higher in the order of recruiting, promotional event, IT information, and general PR message. In the conclusion section, practical implications based on the research finding are thoroughly discussed.

  • Recently, in platforms such as YouTube and Instagram, virtual characters resembling human life become the main characters, produce various contents, breathe with the public, and create the era of virtual humans. For example, existing game characters appear as virtual characters with unique AUs, or AI characters created by reflecting the public's preferences are actively communicating with the public through advertisements and SNS activities. As the consumption of video content through smart devices increases significantly in the post-corona era, virtual influencers are being used as all-round entertainers because there is little risk of personality controversy or production cost. there is a trend In this study, we investigated the characteristics of the case of being active as an influencer among the activities of a virtual character, and how the interactive aspect of the influencer appears by identifying the current situation through major cases. Combining this, based on the analysis of the influence of virtual influencers, the parts that producers should recognize are derived, and the differentiated characteristics of interactive virtual influencers are summarized. In addition, the difficulties of virtual influencers were investigated and problems were identified, and for the development of the content industry, a more favorable method for interaction was presented and suggestions were made to secure inner sincerity.

  • This study systematically analyzed types of fashion brand application focusing on accounts created in Korea. While referring to 'Chanel' which has developed a fashion brand app for the first time in August of 2008, not only for App store by Apple Inc. of the greatest market share but also for Android market, the one and only competitor of App store, the study examined cases of fashion brand app in Korea and foreign countries which have been in service till August of 2013 since the year of 2008. To achieve the research goal, the study conducted a literature research and a case review, categorizing the app by their distinctive functions which were Basic Information, SNS, AR, LBS, Entertainment, Mobile Shopping and Live Streaming. As for the first function, Basic Information, it was considered to provide information on a brand such as prices, sizes and colors of products which should be the most fundamental function of a fashion brand. The function would include look book, catalogues, photographs and others of products, helping users of the app with their understanding on images and concepts of the brand. Second, SNS function was considered useful for its mobility and communication and with the help of theirs, the users share fashion information with each other. Third, AR function as in a filed of virtual reality would edit virtual objects to look real in an actual environment. This would eventually offer the users a chance to try for clothes virtually. The fourth function, LBS, would work with GPS to find a store closest from a present location. This would be a help when the users try to find stores holding promotion events or trails while hiking in mountains. The fifth Entertainment function would include all sorts of games and chances for the users to listen to music and keep fashion diaries. The sixth function, Mobile Shopping, would help the users purchase items online via the app as they would not visit a store in person. The seventh function, Live Streaming, would give the users chances to actually see fashion collections in real time, held all over the world in every season. Because of this function, not only fashion experts but also regular people have become able to enjoy the fashion shows. The distinctive characteristics of the fashion brand application discussed in the study will be a useful reference when any relevant fields try to design other new fashion brand application.
