Effects of SNS Characteristics on SNS Engagement and Consumer Brand Engagement

  • Purpose: Social Network Sites(SNS) have been grown up as a public communication channel consumer frequently participate in. Most of food service brands are utilizing social media for advertising recently. As a result of SNS marketing, food service brands anticipate positive outputs from SNS engagement and consumer brand engagement so that we need to verify structural relationship among SNS characteristics, SNS engagement and consumer brand engagement. Research design, data, and methodology: This study identifies that SNS characteristics have effects on SNS engagement and examines relationship between SNS engagement and behavioral engagement. We conceptualize SNS characteristics as information quality, hedonic level and interaction. Furthermore, SNS engagement is composed of SNS participation, positive word of mouth(WOM). In order to verify the purposes of this research, research model and hypotheses were developed. All constructs were measured with multiple items developed and tested in the previous studies. Sample data were collected from 433 online survey panels and analyzed by using SmartPLS 3.2.9. Result: The findings of this research are as follows. First, information quality is positively related with SNS participation. Hedonic level and interaction have impacts on SNS participation and positive WOM respectively. Second, SNS participation has positive effects on positive WOM. Third, both SNS participation and WOM influence behavioral engagement respectively. Conclusions: The implications demonstrate that SNS characteristics such as information quality and hedonic level and interaction exert effects for consumer to participate in SNS brand page. Meanwhile, hedonic level and interaction influence on positive WOM but information quality doesn't. SNS participation and positive WOM affect consumer to engage in specific brand behaviorally as well. Therefore, food service brand marketer is required to manage SNS information quality and hedonic level and interaction among members to encourage SNS participation and positive WOM. As SNS participation and positive WOM increases behavioral engagement of consumer, marketer needs to incentivize SNS participation and look after situation of positive WOM and respond swiftly.

  • 본 연구는 외식상품 추구편익이 SNS 구전정보특성, 구매의도와 구전의도 간의 영향관계를 살펴보고, SNS 구전정보특성이 외식상품 추구편익과 구매의도 및 구전의도 간에 매개역할을 하는지에 대해 조사하고자 하였다. 자료수집은 2016년 3월 10일부터 3월 30일까지 실시하였으며, 편의표본추출법(convenience sampling)에 의해 SNS를 경험해 본 외식소비자를 대상으로 진행하였다. 설문지는 350부를 배포하였으며, 이 중 불성실하게 응답했거나 연구목적에 부합하지 않는 설문지를 제외한 유효한 자료 326부를 분석에 사용하였다. 분석결과, 첫째, 외식상품 추구편익 중 다양성 및 실용성 편익이 상징성 및 체험성 편익보다 동의성에 더욱 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 반면에, 상징성 및 체험성 편익이 다양성 및 실용성 편익보다 중립성에 더욱 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, SNS 구전정보특성 중 동의성만이 외식상품 구매의도에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, SNS 구전정보특성 중 동의성이 중립성보다 외식상품 구전의도에 더욱 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, SNS 구전정보특성(동의성/중립성)은 외식상품 추구편익(다양성 및 실용성 편익/상징성 및 체험성 편익)과 구매의도 간에 매개역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 다섯째, SNS 구전정보특성(동의성/중립성)은 외식상품 추구편익(다양성 및 실용성 편익/상징성 및 체험성 편익)과 구전의도 간에 매개역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다.

  • Present study was performed to identify the effects of SNS WOM characteristics on attitude and purchase intention as perceived in restaurant participants and to confirm the moderating effect according to SNS receivers' characteristics on formulated model. Survey method was employed to consumers who are using SNS to find restaurant foods through convenience sampling method in Seoul area. A total of 250 surveys were distributed and 230 were used for analysis, after excluding missing and unusual data. The results from this study are as follows. First, vividness of SNS WOM characteristics had a greater effect on attitude of restaurant food than timeliness, but the consensus and neutrality of SNS WOM characteristics have no significant effect on attitude of restaurant food. Second, SNS receivers characteristics found to moderate the relationships between vividness and timeliness of SNS WOM characteristics and attitude. However, SNS receivers characteristics did not have a moderating role relationships between consensus and neutrality of SNS WOM characteristics and attitude. Third, attitude of restaurant food had a significant effect on purchase intention.

SNS 구전정보특성이 외식제품의 신뢰와 구매의도 및 구전의도에 미치는 영향: 사회적 자본의 조절효과를 중심으로 (Effects of SNS WOM Information Characteristics on Trust, Purchase Intention and WOM Intention: Focusing on the Moderating Effects of Social Capital)

  • The purpose of this study was to verify the effects of SNS WOM information characteristics on trust, purchase intention and WOM intention with regards to food products. In addition, the moderating role of social capital was also examined between SNS WOM information characteristics and trust of food products. This survey was conducted on those who used SNS from 13th to 27th on October, 2016 in Seoul and Kyonggi area, using convenience sampling method. A total of 380 responses were collected, of which 365 were used for analysis after excluding responses containing missing data. The results from this study are as follows. First, it was found that neutrality than consensus of SNS WOM information characteristics had a greater effect on the trust of food products. Second, only bonding capital was found to moderate the relationships between consensus of SNS WOM information characteristics and trust of food products. Third, trust of food products significantly impacted purchase intention and WOM intention of food products. These findings intend to propose the effective marketing strategy on the SNS to executives or marketers of food companies.

기혼여성의 외식업체에 대한 SNS구전정보 수용과정과 행동의도 형성과정에 관한 연구 - 부산지역을 중심으로 - (A Study on Married Women's Accepting Process of SNS WOM and Forming Process of Behavioral Intention for Restaurants: Focusing on Busan)

  • 본 연구는 외식업체에 관한 SNS 정보를 접한 기혼여성 소비자가 지각하는 생동감, 동의성, 신뢰성, 동질성, 유대관계와 구전정보수용, 소비자 태도, 구전정보의 SNS 재전달, 구전정보의 오프라인재전달, 방문의도 간의 영향관계를 살펴보고자 하였다. 본 연구는 부산지역의 방송국, 백화점, 대형마트, 관공서 등의 문화센터를 중심으로 기혼여성을 중심으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 조사는 2014년 3월 1일부터 2014년 3월 31일까지 실시하였다. 최종분석에는 304부가 사용되었다. 분석결과, 생동감과 신뢰성 있는 SNS글이 구전정보수용 수준을 높이고, 신뢰성이 소비자태도를 긍정적으로 만들며, 동질성이 구전정보수용수준과 소비자태도, SNS 재전달과 오프라인 재전달의도를 긍정적으로 높이는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 구전정보수용은 소비자태도와 오프라인재전달에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고, 소비자태도는 SNS 재전달과 오프라인재전달 및 방문의도에도 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 SNS 재전달과 오프라인재전달은 방문의도에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

온라인 소셜 네트워크 서비스 환경에서 유력자의 매개 중심성이 구전 효과에 미치는 영향 (The Impact of Influential's Betweenness Centrality on the WOM Effect under the Online Social Networking Service Environment)

  • The online social networking services (SNS) have been growing as the means of communication. In this study, we investigated word-of-mouth (WOM) effect under the SNS environment and evaluated the impact of message sender's influence on the WOM effect. Especially, this study focused on the betweenness centrality calculated through the social network analysis (SNA) of SNS network information, and proposed it as the measure of WOM message sender's influence, SNA may provide more accurate and objective measures than subjective self-reporting survey method. Fifty-one Facebook users responded to each of their four Facebook friends, who had been selected based on their betweenness centrality, Statistical analyses were performed using the responses and the betweenness centralities of the Facebook friends. The results showed that the direction (positive vs, negative) of a WOM message in SNS had an impact on the attitude of the message receiver toward the product. Moreover, the betweenness centrality of the message sender as well as his/her opinion leadership had a moderating effect on the WOM effect. Opinion leadership is a measure that has been frequently used for indicating the influence of WOM message sender in the previous studies. Considering the result that the betweenness centrality of the message sender was Significantly correlated to his/her opinion leadership, the betweenness centrality can be used for indicating the influence of WOM message sender.

SNS에 대한 인지요인이 구전효과에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Perceived Factors on the Word-of-Mouth of SNS)

  • Given the prevalence of internet and web 2.0, SNS(Social Network Service) market is growing rapidly. IT providers which focused marketing point on network hub have become to disseminate SNS mainly now. Many users are using the various functions of SNS to communicate each other or share the information. At this point, identifying the influencing factors to WOM(Word-Of-Mouth) of SNS is very important. In this paper, we aim to examine the effects of perceived variables on the WOM of SNS. In order to analyze the antecedents, we selected perceived factors such as perceived usefulness, perceived easiness, perceived enjoyment and perceived crowd. For statistical analysis, we surveyed real users of SNS. As a result, all antecedents of WOM showed significant influence and among the variables the perceived enjoyment has top standardized coefficient. In addition, perceived crowd has significant on perceived easiness, perceived enjoyment but not on perceived usefulness. The result of this research can be useful guidelines to increase SNS Market.

SNS 광고특성이 이용자의 심리적 요인을 통해 광고태도 및 구전의도에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of SNS Advertisement Characteristics on Advertisement Attitude and WOM through Users' Psychological Factors)

  • Purpose As the number of SNS users increases, the importance of SNS advertisement is also increasing. Thus, the purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of factors on effectiveness of SNS advertising, and expand research on users' attitude and behavior intention toward SNS advertising. Design/methodology/approach This study was designed to examine the structural relationships among SNS service attribute, users' cognitive characters, psychological factors, users' attitude and behavior intention toward SNS advertising. Concretely, SNS service attribute was presented as online interactivity, and users' cognitive characters were presented as perceived relevance and perceived intrusiveness. In addition, psychological factors were presented as presence experience and message credibility, users' attitude toward SNS advertising was presented as advertisement attitude and users' behavior intention was presented as WOM. Findings The results showed that online interactivity has a positive effect on presence experience and message credibility, but perceived intrusiveness has a negative effect on presence experience and message credibility. Perceived relevance has a positive effect on presence experience, but does not have significant effect on message credibility. Presence experience and message credibility have positive effects on advertisement attitude and WOM, and advertisement attitude also has a positive effect on WOM. Based on the results from this study, academic and practical implications can be drawn. First, the study extended the scope of research about SNS advertising through focusing on SNS service attribute and SNS users' cognitive characters and identified the relationship between presence experience, message credibility, advertisement attitude and WOM. Second, the results of this research can provide practical guidelines to develop effective advertising strategies for companies which promoting SNS as a marketing tool.

SNS 구전 정보의 특성이 공기청정기의 구매 의도와 구전 의도에 미치는 영향 (Influences of SNS word-of-mouth information on behavioral intention for air purifier purchase and reword-of-mouth)

  • 본 연구는 공기청정기 구매 의도의 선행요인을 조사하였다. 그리고 구매 의도가 SNS 구전 의도에 미치는 영향이 상호작용 성향에 의해서 조절이 되는지를 평가하였다. 본 연구 모형은 공기청정기 구매 의도의 선행요인으로서 SNS 구전 정보 유용성과 함께 SNS 구전 정보의 신뢰성을 포함하였다. 그리고 SNS 구전 정보의 적절성과 적시성, 충분성을 포함하는 3개의 1차 구성개념으로 구성되는 SNS 구전 정보의 풍부성이 구전 정보의 유용성과 신뢰성에 영향을 미칠 것으로 예상하였다. 연구가설을 통계적 유의수준에서 검증하기 위하여 312명의 응답자로부터 설문 조사 자료를 수집하였다. 구조방정식모형 분석을 수행하여 연구가설을 검증한 결과, 구매 의도는 구전 의도에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 구전 정보의 유용성과 신뢰성은 모두 구매 의도에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 평가되었다. 그리고 구전 정보의 풍부성은 구전 정보의 유용성과 신뢰성에 유의한 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 조사되었다. 그러나, 구매의도가 구전의도에 미치는 영향은 상호작용 성향에 의해서 조절이 되지 않는 것으로 나타났다.

온라인 구전정보의 특성이 구전효과에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Impacts of WOM Information Characteristics on WOM Effect)

  • 본 연구는 SNS상에서 발생하는 온라인 구전 역할의 증대에 따라 SNS 매체에 따른 구전정보의 특성이 구전효과에 미치는 영향관계를 실증적으로 검증하고자 하였다. 분석결과 첫째, 구전정보가 보다 생생하고, 부정적이고, 사실적일수록 정보수용의도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었으며, 또한 정보수용의도가 재구전의도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 구전정보의 특성이 구전정보의 효과에 미치는 영향은 페이스북과 블로그 집단 간에 유의한 차이를 나타나지 않았다. 이는 소비자는 정보를 수용하고 재구전하는 과정에서 SNS 매체의 특성과는 관계없이 모두 하나의 온라인 매체로 인식하기 때문인 것으로 유추할 수 있다. 이들 분석결과를 바탕으로 본 연구의 시사점으로는 최근 급부상하고 있는 SNS와 하이테크 제품에 주목하여 온라인 정보수용과정에 영향을 주는 정보특성 변인들을 개념화하고 구전효과와의 관계를 실증적으로 규명했으며 구전정보의 특성과 구전효과의 관계에 관한 연구영역을 SNS 매체유형인 페이스북과 블로그로 확장을 시도해보았다는 점에서 의의를 찾을 수 있다. 끝으로 향후 연구방향을 제시하였다.
