An SMS Notarization System Using Smartphones (스마트폰을 활용한 SMS 공증 시스템)

  • Although it's been nearly decade since the electronic notarization system enforced, the utilization is not high because of the troublesomeness of the client or his agent to visit the notarial office directly. Recently, the ministry of justice introduced e-notary based on audio-visual conference through amendament of the notarial law, and hence it will vitalize the usage of e-notary. In addition, due to the spread of smartphones, many people use SMS messages to express simple statements or promises. However, in case of legal disputes, the judgment of the court is different according to the case. The electronic notarization system can be used to prove of evidence of SMS messages, however, there is a hassle to convert SMS messages to electronic documents. To solve this problem, this paper proposes an SMS notarization system using smartphones. The proposed system uses reliable notarization server and it is divided into notarization system for message senders and notarization system for message receivers according to notary requestor.

MIWF: Message Inter-Working Framework to Connect Rich Communication Service Messages and SMS Messages (MIWF: 리치 커뮤니케이션 서비스 메시지와 단문메시지의 연동을 위한 메시지 연동 프레임워크)

  • We have used SMS to exchange messages between mobile phones. Since the network evolved to the ALL-IP network, the next generation messaging service, RCS, has emerged to the market. Because SMS and RCS coexist, we need to inter-work the messages between SMS users and RCS users. This paper introduces a message inter-working framework(MIWF) that can inter-work SMS and RCS without changing end user's UX. It defines the call flows between the network equipment and MIWF. Also, it shows how MIWF converts messages between 3 protocols. Performance evaluation proves that MIWF does not add loads to the existing network.

  • At the present, Short Messaging Transfer Protocol Standard described under TIA/EIA/IS-637-A does not cover the measures for security at all. Sequentially, in case of necessity, it seems to be a better idea that security functions are made up for current short messaging transfer protocol. This paper proposes security mechanisms including algorithms and protocols for Short Messaging Services(SMS) which present not only high levels of confidentiality and integrity but also appropriate level of authentication.

  • Short message service(SMS) in a mobile communication environment is a very convenient method. However, it caused a serious side effect of generating spam messages for advertisement. Those who send spam messages distort or deform SMS sentences to avoid the messages being filtered by automatic filtering system. In order to increase the performance of spam filtering system, we need to recover the distorted sentences into normal sentences. This paper proposes a method of normalizing the various types of distorted sentence and extracting keywords through automatic word spacing and compound noun decomposition.

  • This paper proposes and implements a service model to transfer messages safely for PDA on CDMA wireless network and a secure massage transfer protocol which considers characteristics of PDA. Proposed service uses SMS(Short Message Service) connect to a off-line client device with the wired network for data communication. After receiving SMS message, client device processes the SMS message and creates a data channel through RAS(Remote Access Service), then the data of the server can be pushed to clients. The implemented security protocol can provide safe data transmission on each communication line through two way channels(SMS and data). Also, by using security nonce table, this protocol can reduce a number of transmissions for exchanging a safe session key, so intensity of encryption can be increased.

  • 개인 휴대용 단말기의 보급률이 높아짐에 따라, SMS 메시지가 또 하나의 새로운 의사소통 수단으로 발전하였다. 특히 통화보다 가격이 저렴하고, 통화 후 따로 적어두지 않아도 자동으로 저장되는 특징으로 인해 약속 등을 정할 때 많은 도움이 된다. 본 논문은 일반적인 정보추출 방법을 적용하여 이러한 SMS 메시지에서 자동으로 약속 시간과 장소를 추출한다. 기계학습 기법으로는 CRF를 이용하였으며, 비속어나 신조어가 많고 줄임말이 많은 SMS 메시지의 특징상 토큰분리나 품사 부착 등의 전처리 언어엔진을 사용하지 않았으며, 대신 Bi-Gram 언어모델을 사용하였으며, 학습 시 사전이나 어휘 등의 다양한 자질들을 적용하여 시스템의 정확도를 높였다.

Automatically Registering Schedules from SMS Messages on Handheld Devices (휴대전화에서 단문 메시지로부터 일정 자동 등록)

  • With rapid spread of handheld devices like cellular or smart phones, a short message service (SMS) comes on the public as a communication means. SMS is very cheap and can be easily written down on the storage in order not to forget it, hence it is widely used to inform schedules (time and place). In this paper, we develop a system for automatically registering schedules extracted from SMS text messages. SMS text messages are very short and concise, but include a lot of Internet words like slangs and abbreviations. These have made it difficult to extract information on schedules from them. Also handheld devices have some limitations on computing power and storage and then applying general natural language processing modules like morphological analysis to the devices are somewhat hard. To relax these burdens, we extract schedule informations from SMS messages using machine learning methods like condition random field (CRF) without using any language processing modules and register the informations on the schedule management system of handheld devices. Our proposed automatic schedule registration system has implemented on Samsung Omnia phone for experiments.

A Study on Message Inter-working Framework for sending SMS to RCS-e (SMS 메시지를 RCS-e 메시지로 변환하기 위한 프레임워크에 관한 연구)

  • Mobile phone users have been using the SMS to send and receive text messages between them. Recently, GSMA(GSM Association) proposed the next generation instant messaging service, RCS-e(Rich Communication Service-enhanced). This was unavoidable because new OTT(Over The Top) services have emerged that threat the SMS after smart phones became popular. However, the RCS-e has limitations that it cannot inter-operate with the SMS which is still widely used. This paper propose a software framework that inter-work SMS with RCS-e. Call flows for canceling wireless contracts and sending SMS messages to RCS-e users were defined. Also, methods for protocol conversion were defined to inter-work two services. The performance evaluation showed that the proposed framework does not increase loads on IMS(IP Multimedia Subsystem) infrastructure.

Effects of Self-care Program Using SMS, E-mail, or Telephone Call on Self-care Compliance and Nutritional Status in Hemodialysis Patients (혈액투석환자에서 문자메시지(SMS), 이메일 및 전화를 이용한 자가간호 프로그램이 자가간호 이행과 영양 상태에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of self-care program using Short message service (SMS), e-mail, or telephone call on self-care compliance and nutritional status in maintenance of hemodialysis patient. Methods: Nonequivalent pretest-posttest control experimental design was used. Ninety-six patients were allocated to control (n=24), SMS (n=24), e-mail (n=24), or telephone (n=24) group from four hospitals. Experimental groups received self-care program about hemodialysis diet, drug administration, exercise, and fistula care by SMS, e-mail, or telephone call respectively at 3 times a week for 4 weeks. Results: Subjective self-care compliance, and objective self-care compliance including interdialytic weight of SMS and telephone groups were significantly increased than those of control groups. However, nutritional status of SMS and e-mail groups were significantly improved than those of control groups in albumin and protein level. Conclusion: Self-care program using SMS and telephone call were effective on promoting self-care compliance, while SMS and e-mail were effective on improving nutritional status. The pop-up remaining effect and easy accessible effect of SMS message in busy daily life was considered as an alarm to control fluid and diet.

A Software Framework Design for Providing Presence Information of SMS Users to RCS-e App (RCS-e 앱 사용 시 SMS 사용자 프레즌스 정보 제공을 위한 소프트웨어 프레임워크 설계)

  • If RCS-e subscribers and SMS subscribers want to exchange instant messages between each other, RCS-e app should know the presence information of the SMS subscribers. However, a RCS-e specification does not have the way to identify the information. This paper propose a software framework that makes RCS-e app can identify the information without having to modify RCS-e app. It describes the call flows between network equipments to manage the information. Also, it defines RCS-e service tags and service tuple for SMS subscribers. Performance evaluation proves that the proposed framework does not add loads to the existing network.
