Purpose - The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of government R&D programs on firm innovation activities. Design/methodology/approach - This study analyzed survey data on innovation survey in Korea. To investigate our research hypothesis we used ordered logit regression analysis. Findings - This study unveils different effects of diverse government R&D programs on firm innovation activities. Most of government programs-R&D tax incentives, information/training, and marketing supports-have positive effects on management innovation activities and negative effects of the usage of procurement programs on management innovation efforts. Some government programs-R&D tax incentives, R&D grants, information/training-have positive effects on technological innovation activities. Research implications or Originality - This paper investigates the effects of diverse government R&D programs on technological and management innovation activities. We examine simultaneous effects of multiple government R&D programs rather than effects of independent R&D programs. This result can contribute to develop more effective government R&D programs to support firm innovation activities.

The Small and Medium Enterprise is currently getting more attention from the Indonesian government as the contribution of this sector to the regional and national income has increased. Though the government is providing a lot of attention as well as facilities to the small businesses in the manufacturing sector, they face intense competition. Thus, the small enterprises need to ensure that they achieve good business performance. This research aims to investigate the role of entrepreneurial intensity and innovation in improving the performance of small businesses in Indonesia. For this purpose, one hundred and eighty-six small business owners participated in the survey. The data was analyzed using Structural Equation Modelling. The hypothesis results show that entrepreneurial intensity and innovation have a proven role in business performance of small enterprises. Entrepreneurial intensity in particular, significantly impacts innovation and exploration. And innovation is crucial for business performance. The results imply that to increase business performance, the owner and the manager also need to raise their entrepreneurial spirit, as it can enhance their willingness to explore and use their business experience to do more innovation activities. The more innovation is done by the company; the business performance is more likely to improve.

본 연구는 중소기업의 글로벌 시장 진출 전략에 있어 통제정도에 영향을 미치는 결정 요인들을 선행 연구를 통해 추출하고, 해외 진출과 관련된 성과를 분석하였다. 연구를 위해 중소기업의 해외진출 전략요인을 크게 기업역량과 정보역량으로 구분하였다. 기업역량에는 기술사업화 역량, 기업내부 역량, 글로벌 역량을 그 대상으로 하였으며, 정보역량은 해외 수요시장 정보역량과 해외 선진기술 정보역량을 고려하였다. 분석을 위해 통제변수를 포함한 총 27개 변수를 활용하였으며, 성과변수로는 재무적 변수와 비재무적 변수를 활용하였다. 중소기업의 해외 시장 진출 시, 기업의 진입 전략과 관련하여 진입통제 모드에 어떠한 영향을 미치는 알아보고, 나아가 선택한 통제 모드가 성과에 어떠한 영향을 주는지를 분석하기 위해 가설을 수립하였다. 가설 검증을 위해 로지스틱 회귀분석을 실시하였으며 성과와 관련된 추가적 분석을 위해 다중회귀분석과 T-test를 수행하였다.

본 연구는 2013년도부터 TIPA에서 진행해온 클라우드 기반 중소기업 정보화 프로젝트의 현황과 향후 방향에 대한 사용자 및 개발자 설문 분석을 실시하였다. 이 프로젝트는 7개 산업 협동조합들을 시범 지원하면서 개시되었기 때문에, 과거의 사용 패턴과 향후 전략 및 구축 계획에 대한 사용자 기대를 파악할 필요가 있다. 설문 분석 결과, 사용자 만족도와 기대는 기본 솔루션과 산업별 특수 비즈니스 프로세스가 반영된 산업 특화 솔루션간에 차이가 있음을 발견할 수 있었다. 결론으로서, 민간 클라우드 SW 시장에 대한 정부의 관여에 대한 시장의 우려와 중소기업의 정보화 진흥을 위한 정부의 지원 간의 조화 방법에 대한 제안을 제시하고자 한다.

Factory automation(FA) is a part of technological innovation to make production process more efficient and it also facilitates technological innovation by accumulating the internalization ability of newly imported technology Introduction of FA, however, does not guarantee the increase of production efficiency and high product quality, moreover, the competitiveness of firm. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the relationship between firm's behavioral characteristics during implementation process of FA and organizational performance, and to find out success factors of FA. Results of the case studies for 4 SME's show that financial stability and the fitness between corporate strategy and the purpose of FA are the necessary conditions for successful implementation of FA. But the organizational restructuring for new manufacturing system, openness of all communication channels, and common mind of employees are also needed to achieve the high degree of performance from FA, especially the benefits of qualitative or organizational level.

본 연구에서는 중소기업의 기술혁신 장려 정책의 중요한 수단 중 하나인 혁신형 기업 인증 제도의 효과를 기술적 혁신 활동과 성과라는 측면에서 고찰하였다. 이를 위해 중소기업청과 중소기업중앙회에서 실시한 2013~2015년 '중소기업 기술통계조사' 결과를 이용하여, 벤처기업 확인, 이노비즈 인증, 메인비즈 인증 등 혁신형 기업 인증을 받은 혁신형 중소기업과 그렇지 않은 일반 중소기업을 비교하였다. 그 결과 혁신형 중소기업이 기술적 혁신 활동과 성과에 관련된 많은 세부 지표에서 비교 우위에 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 외부사용 연구개발비 비중, 기술개발 시도건수와 성공건수 등은 조사년도에 따라 차이가 없는 것으로 나타나 본 제도의 사후 관리를 강화할 필요가 있는 것으로 판단된다. 한편 자체조달연구개발비 비중은 3개년 조사 모두에서 오히려 일반 중소기업이 혁신형 중소기업에 비해 유의미하게 높은 것으로 나타나, 혁신형 중소기업에 대한 정부의 자금 지원이 기업의 자체 연구개발 투자의 대체재가 아닌 보완재로 사용될 수 있도록 유인하는 제도적 장치가 필요할 것으로 보인다. 또한 기업의 기술적 혁신 활동과 성과는 인증 여부보다는 기업의 규모와 참여 업종에 더 큰 영향을 받으므로, 기술혁신 장려 정책 수립 시 이에 대한 고려가 필요할 것으로 판단된다.

본 연구는 우리나라 자본재 산업의 중소기업을 대상으로 사업영역과 기술혁신역량이 경영성과에 미치는 영향을 실증 분석하였다. 자료는 지역별 산업단지 관리공단의 도움을 받아 1,077개의 중소제조업체를 대상으로 조사하였고 그 중 자본재 산업에 속하는 228개 기업을 분석하였다. 실증 분석 결과, 사업영역에서 제조제품군수가 영업이익률에 정(+)의 영향을 미쳤다. 기술혁신역량에서는 지적재산권수가 매출성장률에 정(+)의 영향을 전문기술인력비는 영업이익률에 정(+)의 영향을 미쳤다. 또한, 사업영역과 기술혁신역량 의한 상호작용 효과도 존재하는 것으로 나타났다. 전문기술인력비가 높을수록 제품다각화가 경영성과에 정(+)의 영향을 미쳤고, 지적재산권이 많을수록 거래고객과 제조제품군수는 영업이익률과 매출성장률에 각각 정(+)에 영향을 미쳤다. 이러한 연구결과는 자본재 산업의 중소기업들이 경영성과를 제고하기 위해서는, 기술능력을 축적하고 사업영역을 확대해야함을 의미한다. 또한, 기업들이 사업영역을 확대하기 위해서는 먼저 내부의 기술혁신역량을 축적하는 것이 필요하다는 점을 시사한다. 특히, 고객의 범위를 확장할 때 새로운 고객의 욕구를 충족시킬 수 있는 기술역량을 가지고 있어야 함을 의미한다. 그리고 기술혁신역량이 높은 기업일수록 중소기업의 제조제품군수의 확대는 경영성과를 개선할 수 있다는 점을 뜻한다.
