Experimental Study on Leak-induced Vibration in Water Pipelines Using Fiber Bragg Grating Sensors

  • Leak detection is one of the most important challenges in condition monitoring of water pipelines. Fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors offer an attractive technique to detect leak signals. In this paper, leak measurements were conducted on a water distribution pilot plant with a length of 270 m and a diameter of 100 mm. FBG sensors were installed on the pipeline surface and used to detect leak vibration signals. The leak was demonstrated with 1-, 2-, 3-, and 4-mm diameter leak holes in four different pipe types. The frequency response of leak signals was analyzed by fast Fourier transform analysis in real time. In the experiment, the frequency range of leak signals was approximately 340-440 Hz. The frequency shifts of leak signals according to the pipe type and the size of the leak hole were demonstrated at a pressure of 1.8 bar and a flow rate of 25.51 m3/h. Results show that frequency shifts detected by FBG sensors can be used to detect leaks in pipelines.

  • Growth mechanism of carbon nanotubes(CNTs) synthesized by chemical vapor deposition is abided by two growth modes. These growth modes are classified by the position of activated catalytic metal particle in the CNTs. Growth mode can be also affected by interaction between substrate and catalytic metal and induced energy such as thermal and plasma. We studied the reaction of catalytic metal to the substrate and growth mode of CNTs. Various substrates such as Si(100), graphite plate, coming glass, sapphire and AAO membrane are used to study the relation between catalytic metal and substrate in the synthesis of CNTs. For catalytic metal, thin film was deposited on various substrate via sputtering technique with a thickness of ∼20nm and magnetic fluids with none-sized particles were dispersed on AAO membrane. After laying process on AAO membrane, it was dried at 80$^{\circ}C$ for 8 hour. Synthesizing of CNTs was carried out at 900$^{\circ}C$ in NH3/C2H2 mixture gases flow for 10minutes.

High Frequency Properties of Patterned Fe-Al-O Thin Films

  • As a result of the recent miniaturization an enhancement in the performance of thin film inductors and thin film transformers, there are increased demands for the thin films with high magnetic permeability in the high frequency range, high saturation magnetization, in high electrical resistivity, and low coercive force. In order to improve high frequency properties, we will investigate anisotropy field by shape and size of pattern. The Fe-Al-O thin films of 16mm and 1 $\mu\textrm{m}$ thickness were deposited on Si wafer, using RF magnetron reactive sputtering technique with the mixture of argon and oxygen gases. The fabricating conditions are obtained in the working partial pressure of 2mTorr, O$_2$ partial pressure of 5%, input power of 400W, and Al pellets on an Fe disk with purity of 99,9%. Magnetic properties of the continuous films as followed: the 4$\pi$M$\_$s/ of 19.4kG, H$\_$c/ of 0.6Oe, H$\_$k/ of 6.0Oe and effective permeability of 2500 up to 100㎒ were obtained. In this work, we expect to enhance effect of magnetic anisotropy on patterned of Fe-Al-O thin films.

  • 요추 척추관 협착증에서 다양한 방법으로 감압술을 시행하고 있으며, 최근 들어 고식적인 척추관 감압술의 여러 합병증을 최소화하기 위하여 최소 침습적 척추 수술이 시행되고 있다. 단방향 내시경을 이용한 감압술은 구조적으로 한계가 있어 그 사용이 제한적이기 때문에 양방향 내시경을 이용한 감압술을 시행하고 있다. 요추 척추관 협착증에서 양방향 내시경을 이용한 감압술은 안전하게 충분한 감압술을 시행할 수 있는 만족스러운 수술법이다.

  • 무선 AP를 이용한 실내 측위 시스템 기법 중 핑거프린트 기법은 측위를 수행하기 전 AP의 Mac 정보와 수신세기를 수집하여 Radio Map을 구축하고 이후 측위 과정에서 수집되는 AP의 정보와 비교하여 위치를 판단하는 기법이다. 단, 기존 Radio Map 구축방법은 실내를 일정한 크기의 Grid Map으로 나누어 측정했을 때 실내 환경에 따라 수많은 AP들의 충돌로 인한 상호간의 신호 간섭이 발생, 신호 패턴에 영향을 주어 신호 세기 탐색 결과가 항상 일정하게 나오지 않는 문제점이 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 기존의 고정형 Radio Map 구축 방법과 측정 구역 자체를 신호 세기에 따라 능동적으로 분석하여 구성하는 가변적 Radio Map 구축기법에 대하여 비교 설명한다.

Microservice Identification by Partitioning Monolithic Web Applications Based on Use-Cases

  • Several companies have migrated their existing monolithic web applications to microservice architectures. Consequently, research on the identification of microservices from monolithic web applications has been conducted. Meanwhile, the use-case model plays a crucial role in outlining the system's functionalities at a high level of abstraction, and studies have been conducted to identify microservices by utilizing this model. However, previous studies on microservice identification utilizing use-cases did not consider the components executed in the presentation layer. Unlike existing approaches, this paper proposes a technique that considers all three layers of web applications (presentation, business logic, and data access layers). Initially, the components used in the three layers of a web application are extracted by executing all the scenarios that constitute its use-cases. Thereafter, the usage rate of each component is determined for each use-case and the component is allocated to the use-case with the highest rate. Then, each use-case is realized as a microservice. To verify the proposed approach, microservice identification is performed using open-source web applications.

Assessment Corrosion and Bioactive Behavior of Bioglass Coating on Co-Cr-Mo Alloy By Electrophoretic Deposition For Biomedical Applications

  • A layer-by-layer coating was produced using electrophoretic deposition for a HA/Al2O3 coating layer and a bioglass coating layer on Co-Cr-Mo alloy with a roughness of 0.5 ㎛ (400 emery paper SiC). The corrosion behaviour was analyzed by assessing the coating layers' exceptional corrosion resistance, which outperformed the substrate. Cr ion release test using AAS was carried out, indicating that factional graded coating inhibited ion release from the uncoated substrate to coated sample. The porosity was expressed as a percentage, representing the extent of imperfections on the surface of all coatings. These imperfections fell within an acceptable range of 1% to 3%. The roughness of the coated surface was measured using atomic force microscopy, which revealed an excellent roughness value of 3.32 nm. Tape test technique for adhesion revealed that the removal area of the substrate coating layer varied by 11.92%. X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed the presence of all coating material peaks and verified phases of the deposited coating layers. These findings provided evidence that the coating composition remains unaffected by the electrophoretic deposition process. The bioactivity was assessed by immersion in a simulated bodily fluid, which revealed the formation of HCA during a period of 5 days.

High-pressure NMR analysis on Escherichia coli IscU

  • IscU, the iron-sulfur (Fe-S) cluster scaffold protein, is an essential protein for biogenesis of Fe-S clusters. Previous studies showed that IscU manifests a metamorphic structural feature; at least two structural states, namely the structured state (S-state) and the disordered state (D-state), interconverting in a physiological condition, was observed. Moreover, subsequent studies demonstrated that the metamorphic flexibility of IscU is important for its Fe-S cluster assembly activity as well as for an efficient interaction with various partner proteins. Although solution nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy has been a useful tool to investigate this protein, the detailed molecular mechanism that sustains the structural heterogeneity of IscU is still unclear. To tackle this issue, we applied a high-pressure NMR (HP-NMR) technique to the IscU variant, IscU(I8K), which shows an increased population of the S-state. We found that the equilibrium between the S- and D-state was significantly perturbed by pressure application, and the specific regions of IscU exhibited more sensitivity to pressure than the other regions. Our results provide novel insights to appreciate the dynamic behaviors of IscU and the related versatile functionality.

등가소성힌지개념을 이용한 지하구조물 균열진전해석 (Crack Propagation Analysis Using the Concept of an Equivalent Plastic Hinged Length)

  • 본 연구에서는 구조물에 발생하는 변상 진전 특성을 수치 해석적으로 평가할 수 있는 기법을 새롭게 개발하기 위한 연구를 수행한 것이다. 이를 위해서, 변상발생 메커니즘을 토대로 하여, 인장균열 발생 후, 휨압축에 의한 압축손상까지를 해석에 반영하였다. 특히 인장균열이 발생하고나서 압축손상이 발생하기까지의 해석 단계를 위해서는, 등가소성힌지길이 개념을 새롭게 도입하여, 균열의 진전을 해석하게 된다. 등가소성힌지 길이개념을 도입함으로써, 균열발생단면에 대한 단면력, 즉, 축력과 모멘트를 균열폭과 관계지어 균열폭의 확장을 추적해 나가게 된다.

점성토 지반에 근입된 그룹 석션파일에 대한 비선형 스프링 모델링 기법 개발 (Development of Nonlinear Spring Modeling Technique of Group Suction Piles in Clay)

  • 최근 해양구조물의 건설이 활발해짐에 따라 해상 부유식 구조체를 경제적으로 지지할 수 있는 새로운 앵커형식을 개발하려는 연구가 이루어지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 기존의 대구경 단일형 석션파일 대신에 다수의 중구경 석션파일을 콘크리트 파일캡으로 결합한 그룹 석션파일에 대하여 연구하였다. 그룹 석션파일은 이동과 회전이 함께 발생하는 복잡한 지지거동을 보이기 때문에 일반적인 설계법을 적용하기 어렵다. 그러므로, 본 연구에서는 점성토 지반에 근입된 그룹 석션파일의 수평방향 지지력을 산정하는 수치 모델링 기법을 개발하였다. 본 기법은 파일을 보요소, 주변지반의 저항력을 비선형 스프링으로 모사한다. 본 기법의 적용성을 분석하기 위하여 동일한 조건에 대하여 3차원 유한요소해석을 수행하여 수평방향 하중-변위 곡선을 서로 비교하였다. 비교결과, 제안된 기법이 지지력을 과소평가하고 최대 지지력이 발생하는 변위는 크게 산정하는 것으로 나타났다. 그러므로, 유한요소해석 결과를 실제거동을 모사할 수 있는 정밀해로 가정한 후 개발된 설계 모델링 기법의 결과를 보정할 수 있는 지반저항력 보정계수를 제안하였다.
