SHS법에 의한 $TiB_2-TiC$ 복합체의 소결특성에 관한 연구 (Study on Sintering Properties of $TiB_2-TiC$ Composite by Self-Propagating High Temperature Synthesis Method)

  • TiB2 and TiC were prepared from the mixture of metal titanium, boron and graphite powders in Argon atmosphere by Self-propagating High-temperature Synthesis method. The sintered properties of TiB2-TiC composite as a function of TiC content and sintering temperature were investigated in TiB2 matrix. The sintered properties were the most excellent at 10 wt% TiC content in TiB2-TiC composite. The relative density, M.O.R strength, hardness and fracture toughness of TiB2-10 wt% TiC composite sintered at 190$0^{\circ}C$ for 90 min by hot-pressing under the pressure of 30 MPa were 98.6%, 634 MPa, 2128.1 kg/$\textrm{mm}^2$ and 4.09 MN/m3/2, respectively.

  • The paper investigates the possibility to avoid extrinsic embrittlement of $Ni_3Al$, also increasing the high temperature strength, by alloying with both Fe - of a high strengthening effect and Cr - able to remove a part of diffused oxygen along the grain boundaries. As Cr homogenization in $Ni_3Al$ is difficult because of its low diffusion coefficient, for its improving a mechanical alloying (MA) step before the compound synthesis by Self-propagating High-temperature Synthesis (SHS) was adopted. The obtained better homogenization resulted in higher mechanical resistance and deformability than of the unalloyed $Ni_3A/Ni_3Al$ alloys of the same composition obtained without MA step.

이규화 몰리브덴-텅스텐의 자전 고온 합성 반응 모델링 (Mathematical Modeling of Self-propagating High Temperature Synthesis of Molybdenum- Tungstenb Disilicide)

  • 자전고온합성반응법을 이용하여 이규화 몰리브덴-텅스텐($Mo_{1-z}$ , $W_{z}$)$Si_2$을 합성하였다. 조성 (z)을 변화시켜 성형한 원통형 시편에 합성반응 중 전달되는 온도변화를 예측하기 위하여 시편의 중앙에 열전대를 삽입하였다. 반응 선단면이 열전대를 통과할 때 가장 높은 반응온도를 보이고 이것을 단열반응 온도라 간주하였다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 이러한 온도변화를 예측하기 위하여 자전조온합성반응의 모델링을 계시하고자 하였으며, 실험을 통하여 측정한 반응온도 분포곡선의 거동을 비교하였다. 각각의 시료에 대한 실험결과 측정된 반응속도는 약 2.14~1.35mm/sec, 반응온도는 1883K~1507K의 간을 보였다. 두 항 모두 텅스텐의 함량이 증가함에 따라 감소하는 경향을 나타냈으며, 수치해석을 통하여 거의 유사한 반응온도를 얻었다. 시료의 초기온도를 증가시킬 경우 반응온도는 증가함이 예측되었고, z=0.5인 시료에 대하여 반응온도가 1900k 이상이 되기 위해서는 약 800K-900K의 예열이 필요하였다.

  • ZrB2 powders were prepared from a mixture of ZrO2, B2O3 and Mg by self-propagating high temperature synthesis method. The combustion product was successfully obtained from a mixture of ZrO2:B2O3:Mg=1:2:8.5 molar ratio. By-product, MgO was effectively removed by leaching with 1M HCl solution at 9$0^{\circ}C$ for over 5hours. After leaching, the Mg content was 0.86~1.42 wt%, and the mean particle size was 4.72${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. The addition of 7.5 wt%(14Ni:1.0C) as a sintering aid greatly densified ZrB2 bodies compared with that of only Ni. The ZrB2 sintered bodies containing 7.5 wt%(14Ni:1.0C) was 94.3% of the theoretical density. In this case, ZrB2 existed as a major phase and had a bend strength of 300 MPa and a vickers hardness of 2000 kg/$\textrm{mm}^2$.

  • Shaped charge(SC) ammunition is a weapon that penetrates directly the target by made jet from metal liner on impacting at a target. In SC, the liner occupies significantly important role causing an explosion and penetration of the target. The Al-Ni composite coating was deposited on copper liner in a solid state via kinetic spraying to improve the explosive force. The mechanical properties, reactivity and microstructure were investigated to confirm the possibility of kinetic sprayed Al/Ni composite coating as a reactive liner material. Reactive liner using Al/Ni composite exhibited much enhanced reactivity than pure copper liner due to Self-propagating High-temperature Synthesis (SHS) reaction with significantly improved adhesive bond strength. Especially, among the Al/Ni composite coatings, AN11 (the Al versus Ni atomic percent ratio is 1:1) showed the greatest reactivity due to its widest reaction area between deposited Al and Ni.

자전연소합성법에 의한 콘덴서용 탄탈륨 분말 제조 (Preparation of Ta Powder for Capacitor by SHS Process)

  • The purpose of this study is to make the tantalum powder for solid electrolyte capacitor with SHS (self-propagating high-temperature synthesis) process. Raw materials for manufacturing Ta powder were used $Ta_{2}O_{5}$, Mg and NaCl. While progressing SHS process, $Ta_{2}O_{5}$ powder was reduced by Mg powder. The combustion temperature and velocity were easily controled by the varying mole ratio of NaCl, Mg and initial reaction pressure. In the case of only using NaCl as an inorganic agent, the shape is unagglomerated and has high surface area. whereas we were given the powder which has good net structure by the addition of excessive Mg as a diluent.

Fabrication of $SrZrO-3$-based Proton Conductors and Their Characterization

  • The Y- or Yb-doped SrZrO$_3$ proton conductors were fabricated using the powders prepared by the self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS). The electrical conductivity was evaluated from an a.c. impedance measurements. The conductivity of SrZr$_{0.92}$Yb$_{0.08}$O$_{3-\delta}$ was 1.8$\times$10$^{-3}$ Scm$^{-1}$ at $900^{\circ}C$ in dry air atmosphere and its activation energy was 0.50 eV. The conductivity in wet air was larger, compared with the dry air, and the activaton energy of SrZr$_{0.92}$Yb$_{0.08}$O$_{3-\delta}$ in wet air was 0.40 eV.

자체반응열 고온합성법을 이용한 Titanium Carbonitride의 합성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Synthesis of Titanium Carbonitride by SHS(Self-propagating High-temperature Synthesis) Method)

  • Using SHS(Self-propagating High-temperature Synthesis) method, the optimum synthetic condition of titanium carbonitride was established by controlling the parameters such as relative density of mixture (Ti+C), nitrogen pressure, additive amounts of titanium hydride(TiH1.924) and protecting heat loss. Under 1 atm nitrogen pressure, nitridation ratio with changing relative density of the sample compacts has a maximum (87.2%) at about 55%, and in the case of enveloping the pellet with a quartz tube, the highest nitridation ratio of 90% was obtained at about 68%. At relative density of 55%, nitridation ratio with the nitrogen pressure has a miximum (87.3%) at 7 atm. As the amounts of additive titanium hydride increased, nitridation ratio decreased at below 7 atm nitrogen pressure and, increased at above this pressure until percent of addition percent reached 15 wt% and decreased abruptly upon futher increases in titanium hydride. In the synthesis of TiCxNy by combustion reaction, heat transfer from combustion zone to preheating zone and nitrogen gas penetration into the compact were found to be important factors affecting the TiCxNy formation. It was difficult to obtain high nitridation ratio when the conbustion temperature was either too high or too low, and it seems that the retention of high temperature after a combustion wave sweeped through the reactant mixture pellet is critical to obtain a satisfactory nitridation ratio.
