  • When we assign frequency resources to a new radio service, the existing services need not to be interfered with by the new service. Therefore, when we make a frequency assignment, a guard band is necessary to separate adjacent frequency bands so that both can transmit simultaneously without interfering with each other. In this paper, we propose an efficient frequency guard band decision rule for avoiding interference between radio services. The guard band is established based on the probability of interference in the previously arranged scenario. The interference probability is calculated using the spectrum engineering advanced Monte Carlo(MC) analysis tool(SEAMCAT). After applying the proposed algorithm to set up the frequency guard band, we can decide on the guard band appropriately because the result satisfies the predefined criterion.

  • In order for unlicensed devices to co-exist on the same frequency band, the frequency interference mitigation policy is necessary. Because the effects of frequency interference between unlicensed devices may vary depending on the analysis layer, exact interference analysis must be proceeded before making any related spectrum policy. In this paper, a frequency interference between WLAN and WPAN systems that operate at 2.4 GHz ISM band were analyzed in the physical layer and MAC layer, respectively. From the results, we confirmed that the interference analysis in MAC layer is closer to the measured results. Based on these investigations, we suggest a new co-existence criterion for unlicensed devices in MAC layer.

  • As a communications system and using the wireless devices is increased at the world, the interference among devices at 2.4GHz band become issue. New complex content technology as education, concert, broadcast, thema-park are developed between Virtual Reality technology and tradition. That is expect an annual growth rate of more than 14%. Almost Virtual Reality devices use motion sense or a wireless joystick. Therefore it is necessarily to analyze the coexistence between Virtual Reality devices and Wi-Fi in the ISM band. The interference scenario and propagation of the Extended Hata Model was established to analyze the interference from WLAN into Virtual Reality devices. Through simulation results based on Monte-Carlo principle, separation frequency was obtained to protect WLAN interference from Virtual Reality devices.

  • We make an analysis of maximum allowable transmission output level to get the solution how heterogeneous systems between adjacent channels can be used in TVWS(TV White Space). The two applied systems are WLAN and WiBro and the overall performances are analyzed based on simulation results according to various density and transmission output of interfering transmitter. In order to get the relationship between interfering density of two systems and allowable maximum transmitter output, we consider the case that a WLAN is an interfering transmitter and a WiBro is a victim receiver. Each simulation results, obtained by free space channel model, are analyzed by SEAMCAT. Coexistence results may be widely applied into the technique development to get the coexisting condition for wireless devices using many communication protocols in an adjacent frequency and a same frequency.

  • In order for heterogeneous unlicensed devices to co-exist on the same frequency band, the frequency interference avoidance mechanism is necessary. In this paper, a frequency interference between WLAN and WPAN systems that operate at 2.4 GHz ISM band was analyzed in the MAC layer. We observed that WPAN systems suffer from severe interference from WLAN systems. To avoid this interference problem, we propose a new channel shift algorithm for WPAN systems. We showed that the proposed channel shift algorithm is better than the traditional WPAN system which uses a fixed channel in terms of throughput.
