Joint Compensation of Transmitter and Receiver IQ Imbalance in OFDM Systems Based on Selective Coefficient Updating

  • In this paper, a selective coefficient updating (SCU) approach at each branch of the per-tone equalization (PTEQ) structure has been applied for insufficient cyclic prefix (CP) length. Because of the high number of adaptive filters and their complex adaption process in the PTEQ structure, SCU has been proposed. Using this method leads to a reduction in the computational complexity, while the performance remains almost unchanged. Moreover, the use of set-membership filtering with variable step size is proposed for a sufficient CP case to increase convergence speed and decrease the average number of calculations. Simulation results show that despite the aforementioned algorithms having similar performance in comparison with conventional algorithms, they are able to reduce the number of calculations necessary. In addition, compensation of both the channel effect and the transmitter/receiver in-phase/quadrature-phase imbalances are achievable by these algorithms.

  • 본 연구에서는 대용량의 데이터를 고속으로 입출력할 수 있는 데이터 저장 시스템 이 가져야할 요구사항을 분석하고, 그것을 만족하는 시스템을 설계하였다. 본 논문에서는 우선 고속 대용량, 랜덤 억세스의 조건을 만족시키기 위해 여러 대의 하드 디스크를 병렬로 연결하여 입력되는 데이터들을 나누어 저장하도록 하였다. 그러나 하드 디스크의 성능은 디 스크 아암의 탐색동작에 의해 크게 영향을 받으므로 실시간 요구 조건을 만족시키기 위해선 단순히 디스크의 수를 늘이는 것 외에 디스크 아암의 탐색 동작을 효율적으로 제어할 수 있 는 방법이 필요하다. 그래서 본 논문에서 설계된 시스템에서는 시스템을 MCU(Master Control Unit), DDU(Data Distribution Unit), SCU(Slave Control Unit), DSU(Data Storage Unit)의 4부분으로 나누고, 각 디스크의 디스크 아암 탐색 동작을 독립된 SCU에서 제어하 도록 하였다. 설계된 내용이 주어진 요구사항들을 만족하는 것을 확인하기 위해, 본 논문에 서는 이산사건 시스템을 기술하는 수학적인 언어인 DEVS 형식론을 이용하여 제안된 시스 템을 기술하고 시뮬레이션하였다. 그리고 시뮬레이션되는 과정에서 생산되는 사건들의 궤적 을 분석하였다. 분석결과 제안된 시스템은 앞에서 제시한 여러 요구사항들을 잘 수용함을 보았다.

A Design of A Modbus Application Protocol for Multiple SCU Connections (다중 제어 장치 연결을 위한 Modbus 응용 Protocol 설계)

  • The Modbus protocol is the most widely used protocol for connecting multiple slave control units (SCUs) in the master control unit. However, the Modbus protocol does not identify which SCU response message corresponds to the service request message. Therefore, when using the Modbus protocol, one service request message can be transmitted after processing the previous message. In this paper, we propose a Modbus application protocol with an index code and a service code to solve the problem. As a result of experimentation, it is possible to transmit the next service request message without processing the previous service request message. And when a communications error occurs, it is possible to identify what type of error occurred using an error detection algorithm. Also, with simultaneous multiple service requests, the proposed protocol can improve processing time by about 66.2%, compared to the original Modbus protocol.

  • In order to analyze undrained shear strength for clayey silt with low plasticity from Hwaseong site, a series of laboratory and in-situ tests were performed. The Unconfined Compressive (UC) test and Simple Consolidated-Undrained Triaxial (SCU) test were examined in order to assess their applicability to the measurement of the undrained strength of this soil. In the case of clayey silt with low plasticity, although the samples were properly taken by undisturbed sampling method, the residual effective stress and the unconfined compressive strength were reduced considerably. Therefore, an effective confining pressure that corresponds to the typical marine clay should be applied to the soil specimen before shearing in order to compensate for the loss of residual effective stress. By evaluating the shear strengths of clayey silt with low plasticity as 75% of $s_{u(scu)}$, the in-situ shear strength of this kind of soil can be duplicated.

  • For the investigation of efficient use of fertilizer nitrogen NPK simple trials were carried out using newly bred Tongil line(japonica indica hybrid selection) and the leading local varieties with sulfur coated area in fields for two years. The yield of Tongil line was higher than that of leading local varieties by 16% in the cool year and 23% is warm year with high solar radiation from NPK simple trials including SCU and 2-split application which were carried in 130 fields at 32 locations. Warm year increased yield by 9% in Tongil but only 3% in the local than the cool year did. Optimum nitrogen level was higher in Tongil by 3.8㎏ in the cool year and 5.5㎏ in warm year than for the local. Yearly variation of optimum nitrogen in the carne variety was greater than varietal variation in the same Year. Two-split application resulted in 1 to 2% of inconsistent yield variation. Sulfur coated urea increased yield by average 2 to 4% even at 20% reduced rate of nitrogen. It was remarkably effective in same $(27{\sim}39%)$, virgin (20%) and unmatured (10%) soils.

Application of Simplified Curing Unit for the Extension of Storage Life and Improvement of Physicochemical Quality of Sweet Potatoes during Long-term Storage (간이 큐어링 설비를 이용한 큐어링 처리가 장기간 저장 중 고구마의 품질 개선에 미치는 영향)

  • To evaluate the effect of curing treatment using a newly developed simplified curing unit (SCU) on the physicochemical quality of stored sweet potatoes was investigated for six months. The SCU consisting of a heater, an air circulation fan, exhaust fans, and a humidifying duct was installed in a cold storage room where the harvested sweet potatoes were stacked. During the six days of curing treatment, air temperature and relative humidity in the storage room were set at $32^{\circ}C$ and 90%, respectively. Physical and chemical properties of sweet potatoes were measured at 1-month intervals from the first day of storage. McKinney index showing the incidence and severity of decay was 0.83% in the curing treatment, while that of untreated control was 5.08% over the same storing period. Firmness, soluble solids content, and dry matter content in the cured sweet potatoes were greater than those of untreated control. Moreover, the changes of skin color in uncured potatoes occurred rapidly than cured one which showed delay of skin discoloration during the long-term storage. Results suggest that the SCU treatment improves the physicochemical quality of stored sweet potatoes and extends their storability. Therefore, the SCU can be effectively used for curing treatment of sweet potatoes with a relatively low cost.

Development of Steering Control System based on CAN for Autonomous Tractor System (자율 주행 트랙터 시스템의 성능 향상을 위한 CAN 기반의 조향제어시스템 개발)

  • A steering control system based on CAN(Controller Area Network) for autonomous tractor was developed to reduce duty of a central processing computer and to improve performance of steering control in terms of reduced control interval and error. The steering control system consisted of a SCU (Steering Control Unit), an EHPS system, and a potentiometer. The SCU consisted of an MCU (Micro Controller unit), an A/D converter, and a DC-DC converter, and a PID controller was used to control steering angle. The steering control system was communicated with the computer by CAN-bus. Each actuator and implement was connected to a multi-function board interfacing with the computer through a USB cable. Without CAN, control interval of the autonomous tractor was 1.5 seconds. When the CAN-based steering control system was combined with the autonomous tractor, however, control interval of the integrated system was reduced to those less than 0.05 seconds. When the autonomous tractor was operated with 1.5-s and 0.05-s control cycles at a 0.63-m/s travelling speed, the trajectories were close to straight lines for both of the control cycles. For a 1.34-m/s traveling speed, tractor trajectory was close to sine wave with a 1.5-s control cycle, but was straight line with a 0.05-s control cycle.

Polymethoxylated Flavone Extracts from Citrus Peels for Use in the Functional Food and Nutraceutical Industry

  • Polymethoxylated flavones (PMFs) extracted from Citrus sinensis 'Jincheng' peel were characterized by chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques. Seven individual PMF were identified. 3, 3', 4', 5, 6, 7-hexamethoxyflavone (HEX), nobiletin (NOB), heptamethoxyflavone (HEP), 5-demethylnobiletin (DN), and tangeretin (TAN) were characterized through electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) in positive mode of protonated molecular ions $[M+H]^+$, the diagnostic fragment ions, together with the UV-Vis spectra and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) elution order from literature data. Sinensetin (SIN) and tetramethyl-O-scutellarein (SCU) were isolated and identified through their MS, $^1H$ nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and UV-Vis spectral studies. The levels of PMFs in peels from different cultivars of citrus fruits grown in China were determined for the first time. The results showed that C. aurantium 'Bitter orange' peel was the most promising variety for HEP. C. sinensis peel was a good source for SIN and SCU.
