  • This paper presents a new approach to the calibration of a SCARA robot orientation with a camera modeling that accounts for major sources of camera distortion, namely, radial, decentering, and thin prism distortion. radial distortion causes an inward or outward displacement of a given Image point from its ideal location. Actual optical systems are subject to various degrees of decentering, that is, the optical centers of lens elements are not strictly collinear. Thin prism distortion arises from imperfection in lens design and manufacturing as well as camera assembly It is our purpose to develop the vision system for the pattern recognition and the automatic test of parts and to apply the line of manufacturing.

  • This paper describes the camera calibration based-neural network with a camera modeling that accounts for major sources of camera distortion, namely, radial, decentering, and thin prism distortion. Radial distortion causes and inward or outward displacement of a given image point from its ideal location. Actual optical systems are subject to various degrees of decentering, that is, the optical centers of lens elements are not strictly collinear.   • The equipment of industrial robot in manufacturing and assembly lines has rapidly increased. In order to achieve high productivity and flexibility, it becomes very important to develop the visual feedback control system with Off-Line Programming System(OLPS). We can save much efforts and time in adjusting robots to newly defined workcells by using OLPS. A proposed visual calibration scheme is based on position-based visual feedback. The calibration program firstly generates predicted images of objects in an assumed end-effector position. The process to generate predicted images consists of projection to screen-coordinates, visible range test and construction of simple silhouette figures. Then camera images acquired are compared with predicted ones for updating position and orientation data. Computation of error is very simple because the scheme is based on perspective projection which can be also expanded to experimental results. Computation time can be extremely reduced because the proposed method does not require the precise calculation of tree-dimensional object data and image Jacobian.

A Study on the Inverse Calibration of Industrial Robot Using Neural Networks (신경회로망을 이용한 산업용 로봇의 역보정에 관한연구)

  • This paper proposes the robot inverse calibration method using a neural networks. A highorder networks called Pi-Sigma networks has been used. The Pi-Sigma networks uses linear summing units in the hidden layer and product unit in output layer. The inverse calibration model which compensates the difference of joint variables only between measuring value and analytic value about the desired pose(position orientation) of a robot is proposed. The compensated values are determined by using the weights obtained from the learning process of the neural networks previously. To prove the reasonableness the SCARA type direct drive robot(4-DOF) and anthropomorphic robot(6-DOF) are simulated. It shows that the proposed calibration method can reduce the errors of the joint variables from $\pm$3 to $\pm$0.1.

  • During operating given working a robot manipulator makes some problems such as the accumulation of the error or the deviation from the command trajectory. These problems are mainly due to the disturbance noise or unmodeled system parameters. To solve these problems most of robot manipulators equip the controller. But if exact controller gains are not seleced we can't decrease the working efficiency(such as compensation about error or deviation) of the robot manipulator. So in this paper we present the controller gain tuning law by which we can find the controller gain which satisfies the per-formance specification of the robot manipulator during working of the robot. The proposed algorithm is derived from the Laypunov direct method. And by the simulation on the 4-axis SCARA type robot(SAMSUNG SM5 Robot) we guarantee the performance of this algorithm.

  • A new chattering free sliding made control is proposed for robot manipulators. The control input is derived from the reaching law and the Lyapunov stability criteria, which is only composed of continuous terms. It has a chattering free characteristics and a concise farm. In implementing procedures, no change of equations is needed. Thus, it does not degrade the original merits of the sliding mode control. And it is applied to a 2-link SCARA robot manipulator. It is shown that the proposed control has good trajectory tracking performance compared with the PD control and the conventional sliding mode control which uses the boundary layer concept.

  • In order to eliminate position errors existing at the steady state in the motion control of robotic manipulators, a new fuzzy control algorithm is propeosed using three variables, position error, velocity error and integral of position errors as input variables of the fuzzy controller. Although the number of input variables of the fuzzy controller is increased from two to three, the number of fuzzy control rules is just increased by two. Three dimensional look-up table is used to reduce the computational time in real-time control, and a technique reducing the amount of necessary memory is introduced. Simulation and experimental studies show that the position errors at the steady state are decreased more than 90% compared to those of existing fuzzy controller when the proposed fuzzy controller is applied to the 2 axis direct drive SCARA robot manipulator.

  • 본 연구에서는 로봇의 교시, 궤적계획, 충돌, 로봇동작, 제어알고리즘 등의 평가에 유용하게 사용할 수 있는 다기능 오프라인 프로그래밍 시스템인 POLPS(Pusan_national_university's Off-Line Programming System) 를 개발하였다. POLPS은 4축 스카라형 FARA 로봇을 대상으로 개발되었고, 편리한 방법으로 교시작업을 수행할 수 있으며, 교시 내용에 따라 궤적계획을 수행한 후 로봇을 동작시켜 충돌을 회피하는 동적 시뮬레이션을 수행할 수 있다. 제안된 여러 제어알고리즘 중에서 주어진 작업에 적합한 제어알고리즘을 효율적으로 선정하기 위한 성능의 비교와 평가 기능을 갖추고 있는 것이 주요한 특징이다. 또한 시각위치변경, 온선. 온면제거 및 음영처리, 고속 애니메이션, 환경구성, 인터프리터 명령어 등의 다양한 기능으로 편리하게 사용할 수 있다.

  • The purposes of this paper are the review and derivation of design characteristics for the new construction of the practical flexible manufacturing system. The basic ideas to analyze the manufacturing system which is the automatically operated are dependant on the various manufacturing procedures in factory. The practical flexible manufacturing systems have various mechanical subsystems appropriated fur the final manufacturing products. Therefore the systems have the various kinds of hardwares as well as softwares. We study the software for the practical flexible manufacturing system designed and developed in the Halla University with the related company. Specially the design concepts and using specifications of all subsystems which are composed of mechanical and electronic movements of the product are analyzed and introduced in this dissertation.

Design Process of Robotic Cell and Layout Design Tool (로봇 셀 설계절차와 레이아웃 작업 지원 도구)

  • In this study, a design process of robotic cell is presented. This paper focuses only on the automation of workpiece handling with robot. The presented design process enables us to analyze effectiv ely the original production system and to redesign it as an optimum production system with robots. An original production system is analyzed with respect to its economical and technological requirements for automation. If automation of the given production system is feasible, the conceptual design for automation is firstly derived. Next, the detail design is derived for the optimum conceptual design. Finally, an optimum system solution is determined after the economical and technical evaluation of all the derived detail designs. The all specifications of each element of the redesigned production system and its layout are determined at the detail design phase. This paper shows a low cost supporting tool for layout design of robotic cell with SCARA type robots.
