직장인의 만성질환 위험 요소별로 구성된 영양 교육의 효과 비교 연구 (Effects of Workplace Nutrition Education Program Tailored for the Individual Chronic Disease Risks)

  • The incidence of chronic disease is continuously increasing in Korea. Especially, office workers have higher risk of chronic disease because of their dietary habit and lifestyle. The study aimed to investigate the effect of tailored nutrition counseling on improving chronic disease risk factors. Ninety-nine male workers (age $46.9{\pm}7.0$ yrs) volunteered for 12 weeks of nutrition program containing dietary intake and physical activity adjustment. Five individualized programs were performed with the main theme of weight loss (WL, n = 16), blood pressure lowering (BL, n = 34), normalizing blood glucose (GL, n = 21), lipid lowering (LL, n = 13) and reducing MS risk factors (ML, n = 15). Anthropometric data, blood-pressure, self-reported questionnaire, blood profiles were measured before and after 12weeks of nutrition education. The education program included 5 times of 1:1 interview. Compared to 0 week, anthropometric data (weight, BMI, fat, visceral fat, waist, SBP, DBP) were significantly decreased after 12 weeks (p < 0.001). Fasting blood glucose and total cholesterol were decreased (p < 0.05). The primary outcomes with individually tailored programs showed to be more effective than one general nutrition program.

Genetic Diversity of a Natural Population of Apple stem pitting virus Isolated from Apple in Korea

  • Apple stem pitting virus (ASPV), of the Foveavirus genus in the family Betaflexiviridae, is one of the most common viruses of apple and pear trees. To examine variability of the coat protein (CP) gene from ASPV, eight isolates originating from 251 apple trees, which were collected from 22 apple orchards located in intensive apple growing areas of the North Gyeongsang and North Jeolla Provinces in Korea, were sequenced and compared. The nucleotide sequence identity of the CP gene of eight ASPV isolates ranged from 77.0 to 97.0%, while the amino acid sequence identity ranged from 87.7 to 98.5%. The N-terminal region of the viral CP gene was highly variable, whereas the C-terminal region was conserved. Genetic algorithm recombination detection (GARD) and single breakpoint recombination (SBP) analyses identified base substitutions between eight ASPV isolates at positions 54 and 57 and position 771, respectively. GABranch analysis was used to determine whether the eight isolates evolved due to positive selection. All values in the GABranch analysis showed a ratio of substitution rates at non-synonymous and synonymous sites (dNS/dS) below 1, suggestive of strong negative selection forces during ASPV CP history. Although negative selection dominated CP evolution in the eight ASPV isolates, SLAC and FEL tests identified four possible positive selection sites at codons 10, 22, 102, and 158. This is the first study of the ASPV genome in Korea.

[ $Entr{\acute{e}}e$ ] Popularity Affects Nutrient Intake among School-Aged Children Eating School Breakfasts

  • The purposes of this study were to investigate the effects of the popularity of menu items in nutrient consumption of school-aged children participating in a School Breakfast Program. The weighed plate waste method was used to determine the nutrient intake of students. The nutrient intake was evaluated based on the popularity of the menu item, gender, and grades. The average intakes of all nutrients except energy, fiber, and sodium were well within the goals. Actual nutrient intake varied based upon the popularity of $entr{\acute{e}}es$ and the popularity of menu items was a main effect in nutrient content of meals. When the most popular $entr{\acute{e}}es$ were served, school-aged children's energy intake and School Breakfast Program participation rate increased. Saturated fat and sodium intakes also were higher than the goal when the most popular $entr{\acute{e}}es$ were served. The significant main effect was grades for total fat (p < 0.05) and calcium (p < 0.05), which was qualified by the two-way interaction between gender and grades for saturated fat (p < 0.05), protein (p<0.1), iron (p<0.01), vitamin C (p<0.01) and carbohydrates (p<0.001). Gender itself was not a significant main effect. Based on the findings, the suggestions for educating school-aged children on more healthful breakfast food choices and reformulating recipes for the popular $entr{\acute{e}}es$ are made. 농촌지역 노인의 고혈압 유병율과 영양위험요인 (The Prevalence of Hypertension and Related Nutritional Risk Factors of Elderly Living in a Rural Area)

  • Objectives: The prevalence of hypertension in Korean rural elderly was significantly higher than that of the general population. Determining the potential risk factors of hypertension would be useful for managing and improving the treatment and prevention of hypertension in rural areas. Methods: We studied 336 elderly individuals 110 males, 226 females) aged between 65 years and 95 years residing in the rural area, S-gun Jeonbuk. Health-related habits, frequency of intake of food groups, nutrient intakes, anthropometric and biochemical measurements were assessed. Subjects were defined as hypertensive if SBP was ${\geq}140mmHg$ or if DBP was ${\geq}90mmHg$ or take an antihypertensive drug. Results: The rate of prevalence of hypertension in the study group was 51.8% (male 40.0%, female 57.5%). The risk of occurrence of hypertension was higher among females (OR, 1.98), 75 years old or older (OR, 1.62), BMI ${\geq}25kg/m^2$ (OR, 2.84), acceptable range (upper end) of body fat (OR, 2.29) and unhealthy (too high) range of body fat (OR, 3.28), hypertriglyceridemia (OR, 2.17) and hypercholesterolemia (OR, 5.42), low protein intakes (OR, 1.78). However, health related habits, frequencies of intake of food groups and most nutrient intakes except for protein did not show any significant relationship with the occurrence of hypertension. Conclusions: To reduce the risk of occurrence of hypertension among elderly individuals in rural areas, it is needed to avoid increase of body fat, 25 or higher BMI ($kg/m^2$) and hyperlipidemia and low intake of proteins.

Isolation and Characterization of a Ds-tagged liguleless Mutant in Rice (Oryza sativa. L)

  • A liguleless mutant, which showed complete loss of lamina joint region at the junction between leaf blade and leaf sheath, was isolated from a Ds insertional mutants derived from the source cultivar, Dongjin. This mutant could not affect other developmental patterns like phyllotaxis. Southern blot analysis, using GUS as a probe, revealed that the liguleless mutant contained three Ds copies transposed in the rice genome. Among the four genomic sequences flanking the Ds, one was mapped in the intergenic region (31661640 - 31661759), and the other two predicted a protein kinase domain (12098980 - 12098667) as an original insertion site within a starter line used for massive production of Ds insertional mutant lines. Another predicted and inserted in first exon of liguleless 1 protein (OsLG1) that was mapped in coding region (LOC_Os04g56170) of chromosome 4. RT-PCR revealed that the OsLG1 gene was not expressed liguleless mutants. Structure analysis of OsLG1 protein revealed that it predicted transcription factor with a highly conserved SBP domain consisting of 79 amino acids that overlapped a nuclear localization signal (NLS). RT-PCR revealed that OsLG1 is mainly expressed in vegetative organs.

대사증후군 중년 여성들의 코코넛 오일 섭취와 복합운동이 신체조성, 산화스트레스 및 혈압에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Virgin Coconut Oil Supplementation and Complex Exercise on Body Composition, Oxidative Stress and Blood Pressure in the Middle-Aged Women with Metabolic Syndrome)

  • 본 연구는 12주간 대사증후군 중년 여성들의 코코넛 오일 섭취와 복합운동이 신체조성, 산화스트레스 및 혈압에 미치는 영향을 규명하고자 하였다. 측정항목은 체지방(체중, 체지방, BMI, WHR), 산화스트레스(MDA, SOD), 혈압(SBP, DBP)을 측정하였다. 그 결과, 체중과 체지방에 있어서 코코넛 오일, 복합운동 프로그램 참여 전에 비해 후에 유의하게 감소하였다. BMI, WHR에 있어서 코코넛 오일, 복합운동 프로그램 참여 전에 비해 후에 유의하게 감소하였다. MDA에 있어서 코코넛 오일, 복합운동 프로그램 참여 전에 비해 후에 유의하게 감소하였다. SOD에 있어서 코코넛 오일, 복합운동 프로그램 참여 전에 비해 후에 유의하게 증가하였다. 수축기 혈압에 있어서 코코넛 오일, 복합운동 프로그램 참여 전에 비해 후에 유의하게 감소하였다. 이완기 혈압에 있어서 코코넛 오일, 복합운동 프로그램 참여 전에 비해 후에 유의하게 감소하였다. 결론적으로 대사증후군 중년 여성들에 있어서 코코넛 오일 섭취와 복합운동은 체지방, 산화스트레스, 혈압 관리에 효과적인 것으로 나타났다.

체력관리 수업이 여자 대학생의 신체구성, 혈압 및 건강관련 체력에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Fitness Management Class on Body Composition, Blood Pressure and Health-related Fitness in College Women)

  • 본 연구는 체력관리 수업이 비만도가 각기 다른 여자 대학생들의 신체구성, 혈압 및 건강관련 체력에 미치는 영향이 다른지에 대해 검증하는 것이다. 본 연구의 대상자는 본교 2012~2016년 9학기 동안 체력관리 수업을 수강한 여학생 317명을 대상으로 하였으며, 그룹 구분은 체질량지수와 체지방률(%) 기준으로 저체중, 마른 비만, 정상, 정상 비만 그리고 비만 그룹으로 구분하였다. 체력관리 수업은 저항성 운동과 유산소 운동의 복합운동으로 일일 75분, 주 2회로 구성하여 진행하였다. 본교의 체력관리 수업은 비만 그룹을 제외한 네 그룹의 체중, 체질량지수, 체지방율, 근육량 그리고 허리둘레를 긍정적으로 개선시키는 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 하지만 혈압(SBP, DBP)과 건강관련 체력에서는 다섯 그룹 모두에서 대부분 긍정적으로 개선되는 효과가 있었다. 따라서 체력관리 수업은 비만 여자 대학생의 신체구성의 개선을 제외하고 여자 대학생들의 신체구성과 혈압의 개선 및 건강관련 체력을 향상시키는 것으로 나타났다.

건강체력 수준과 심혈관질환 관련 위험인자와의 관련성 (The Link between Health-related Physical Fitness Level and Cardiovascular Disease-related Risk Factors)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the link between health-related physical fitness level and cardiovascular disease-related risk factors in adult male workers. Methods: We tested cardiovascular disease-related risk factors (waist circumference, SBP, DPB, fasting glucose, TC, HDL-C, TG, LDL-C) and health-related physical fitness ($VO_2max$, grip, Sit-up, Flexibility, Body fat) and divided health-related physical fitness level of the subjects into 3 groups - A (very good, n=56), B (good, n=59), and C (below-average, n=57) according to the criterion of the Health and Fitness counseling guidelines of KOSHA. The statistical techniques such as standard deviation, one-way ANOVA and multiple regression (p<.05) were used. Results: There were significant differences between group C and group B & A (p<.001) in waist circumference, DBP, Fasting glucose, HDL-C, TG, LDL-C. In TC/HDL-C, TG/HDL-C, LDL-C/HDL-C, Group C was higher than group B and A. Conclusion: On the basis of these results, we identified that improvement of health-related physical fitness level positively effects on the decrease of cardiovascular disease-related risk factors.

연령에 따른 3지점 비체중지지 목발보행이 심혈관계에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Cardiovascular on 3-Point Nonweight Bearing Ambulation with Axillary Wooden Crutch According to Age)

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of systolic blood pressure, heart rate and myocardial oxygen consumption on 3-point nonweight bearing ambulation with axillary wooden crutch according to age. The subjects were fifty healty volunteers(22 male, 28 female), ages from 20 to 69(mean age of 43.8 years) with no history of cardiovascular or respiratory disease, diabetes mellitus, arthritis and orthopedic disorder within the past three years. This study was carried out from May 10 to August 10, 1996. The data were analyzed by percentage, mean and standard deviation and ANOVA. The results were as follows : 1. In systolic blood pressure(SBP), there was no significantly change between before walk and after 20 m in crutch walking with age, however, there did differ significantly after 40 m and 60 m in crutch walking(p<0.01, p<0.001). 2. In heat rate(HR), there was no significantly change between before walk and after 20 m, 40 m in crutch walking with age, however, there did differ significantly after 60 m in crutch walking(p<0.05). 3. In myocardial oxygen consumption($MVO_{2}$), there was no significantly change between before walk and after 20m in crutch walking with age, however, there did differ significantly after 40 m and 60 m in crutch walking(p<0.01, p<0.001). These result showed that cardiovascular system had a great effect on the olderly when 3-point nonweight bearing ambulation with axillary wooden crutch. Therefore, when train for axillary crutch in the olderly, we needed suitably basis of walking distance.

중.노년층이 섭취한 식품 종류와 영양소섭취상태, 신체지수 및 혈중지질과의 관계 (The Study of Associations among Serum Lipids, Anthropometric Measurements, Food Intake Frequency and Nutrient Intake in Healthy Adults)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the association among food intake frequency, nutrient intake, anthropometric measurements, and serum lipids in 100 women and 85 men aged 40-74yrs residing in Jeonju City. Food intake frequency and nutrient intake were obtained from one-day dietary recalls. The results were as follows : The mean height, body weight and BMI were 161 cm, 62.5 kg, and 24 kg/$m^2$respectively. The mean of SBP and DBP were 118 mmHg, 77 mmHg respectively. The mean of TC and TG were 185.5 mg/dl, 153 mg/dl respectively. The mean daily energy and carbohydrate intake was 85. 7%, 91% of RDA for Koreans respectively and that protein intake was 118.5% of RDA. The TC levels of subjects less than 75%, 75-125%, more than 125% of RDA energy were 176 mg/dl, 192 mg/dl, 185 mg/dl respectively(p < 0.01). The TC levels less than 75%, 75-125%, more than 125% of RDA protein were 180 mg/dl, 190 mg/dl, 175 mg/dl respectively(p < 0.05). TC levels less than 75%, 75-125%, more than 125% of RDA fat were 181 mg/dl, 193 mg/dl, 194 mg/dl respectively(p < 0.05). Of the subjects, 18% ate mushrooms. The BMI of the mushroom eaten was 24 and that of non-mushroom eaten was 25(p <0.05). Of the subjects, 28% consumed milk and milk produce. The mean level of TC and TG in milk and milk products eaters were 181 mg/dl, 131 mg/dl and that of non milk and milk products eaters were 197 mg/dl, 159 mg/dl(p < 0.001, p < 0.05). Of the subjects, 58% ate fish. The HDL-C of the fish eaten was 50 mg/dl and that of non-fishes eaten was 45 mg/dl(p < 0.05).
