DNA 측정용 SH-SAW 센서 개발 (Development of an SH-SAW Sensor for Detection of DNA)

  • 본 연구에서는 DNA의 고정화 및 DNA 혼성화 반응을 감지할 수 있는 SH형 SAW 센서를 개발하였다. 고정화 및 혼성화 반응에 사용된 탐침 DNA 및 표적 DNA는 상보적 결합이 일어날 수 있는 염기서열을 가진 15-mer의 올리고뉴클레 오티드를 사용하였다. SH형 SAW 센서는 압전 단결정 $36^{\circ}\;YX\;LiTaO_3$를 사용하여 100 MHz로 발진되는 이중 지연선 형태로 제작하였다. 제작된 센서는 Au가 증착된 박막위에 고정화된 탐침 DNA와 표적 DNA와의 혼성화 반응을 시키고 난 후 센서의 주파수 변화를 측정하였으며, DNA 고정화 및 혼성화 반응은 pH 7.4의 PBS 완충용액상에서 수행하였다. 개발된 SH형 SAW센서는 $1.55 {\cal}ng/{\cal}ml/Hz$의 민감도를 가지며, DNA 혼성화 특성에 기인한 질량하중 효과에 따른 안정적인 주파수 변화를 나타내었다.

  • There is a great demand of micro-actuators for mobile information devices such as SFF optical drives and mobile camera phones. However, conventional magnetic coils of electromagnetic motors are a major obstacle for miniaturization because of their complicated structures and large power consumption. In this paper, a linear ultrasonic motor to actuate focusing lens of mobile devices is proposed. The new actuator uses a ring type bimorph piezoelectric material, and $d_{31}$ mode is adopted for applying linear motion. The interaction between inertia force and friction force makes linear motion by high-frequency saw signal input. The saw signal gives steady forces on the one direction by asymmetric inclination property of the signal itself on time domain. A commercial FEM (ANSYS) was used in this investigation for simulating structural analysis, identification of dynamic property, such as resultant displacement and coupled analysis with piezoelectric material. To evaluate the performance of the new design, a prototype was manufactured and experiments were carried out. Experimental results show the actuator motion of 1.52 mm/s at 10 kHz input signal in 5 V.

  • Surface acoustic wave(SAW) device is used for transporting and patterning micro-scale particles such as cells. In this research, velocity of particles was investigated moved by SAW device with two types of interdigital electrode transducers(IDTs) under various conditions. SAW devices which have single IDTs and double IDTs were designed and fabricated. On the previous studies, resultant velocities of particles were predicted considering output power and power ratio between IDTs-shape. For more accurate prediction, power loss in SAW device and a power difference between two types of IDTs-shape were considered. Maximum error between the test results and predicted values was 5 % so the power loss must be considered in the velocity prediction of the particles.

SAW 대역 통과 필터용 ZnO 박막의 특성 개선 연구 (Performance Improvement of ZnO Thin Films for SAW Bandpass Filter)

  • 펄스 레이저 증착(Pulsed laser Deposition: PLD) 및 RF 스퍼터링 증착(Sputtering Deposition)의 단계적 적용을 통해, 표면탄성파 대역 통과 필터(Surface Acoustic Wave Bandpass Filter: SAW-BPF)용 ZnO 박막을 성장시켰다. PLD 방법으로 성장된 ZnO 박막위에 RF sputtering 방법을 사용하여 ZnO 박막을 재증착시켰으며, 성장된 ZnO 박막의 물성을 분석하기 위하여 XRD, SEM 및 AFM 분석장비를 사용하였다. 두 가지 증착 방법이 단계적으로 적용되어 성장된 ZnO 박막의 경우, 결정성과 배향성이 우수하게 유지되면서 표면거칠기가 향상되었다. 분석 결과, ${\omega}$-scan의 반치폭과 표면거칠기의 RMS 값은 각각 $0.79^{\circ}$와 1.108 nm였다. 그리고 성장된 양질의 ZnO 박막을 사용하여 SAW-BPF를 제작하여 측정한 결과는 응답 특성의 중심주파수가 260.8 MHz, 대역폭은 2.98 MHz, 그리고 삽입손실은 36.5 dB이었다.

  • Due to the increasing variety and capacity of information and communication media, systems of microwave band communication have branched out extensively. Surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices fabricated FeSiB thin films on quartz substrate were deposited by RF magnetron sputter and by photolithographic processes. This device is with a center frequency 146MHz and the insertion loss as low as -43dB was obtained.

  • This paper presents characteristics of surface acoustic wave (SAW) gas sensor for detecting volatile gases such as ethanol gas by measuring the phase shift of output signal. A delay-line with a center frequency of 400 MHz was fabricated on $128^{\circ}$ Y-Z $LiNbO_{3}$ substrates. Experimental results, which showed the phase change of the output signal under the absorption of volatile gas on sensor surface, were presented. The sensitivities of SAW delay lines coated with polyurethane films were greatly increased compared to those for uncoated devices. This SAW gas sensor system may be well suited for a high sensitivity electronic nose system.

  • An 80MHz surface acoustic wave (SAW)-based gyroscope utilizing a progressive wave was developed on a piezoelectric substrate. The developed sensor consists of two SAW oscillators in which one is used for sensing element and has metallic dots in the cavity between input and output IDTs. The other is used for a reference element. Coupling of mode (COM) modeling was conducted to determine the optimal device parameters prior to fabrication. According to the simulation results, the device was fabricated and then measured on a rate table. When the device was subjected to an angular rotation, oscillation frequency differences between the two oscillators were observed because of the Coriolis force acting on the metallic dots. Depending on the angular rate, the difference of the oscillation frequency was modulated. The obtained sensitivity was approximately 52.35 Hz/deg.s within the angular rate range of 0~1000 deg/s. The performances of devices with three IDT structures for two kinds of piezoelectric substrates were characterized. Good thermal stability was also observed during the evaluation process.

  • SAW filters of transversal type were fabricated on some piezoelectric substrates of the LN 128$^{\circ}$ Y-X, LN 64$^{\circ}$Y-X, Quartz ST-cut wafers through the simulation in which the number o: IDT and window function were changed for the required frequency, and the mask making. Their IDT spacing and width were 3 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, chip size was 4.462 $\times$ 2.086 mm$^2$, and they had double electrode transversal type IDTs. In addition to pure Al electrode devices, Ti thin films having the different thicknesses was introduced between the Al electrode and the substrate for improving the power resistance strength. They had 11-12 dB insertion losses similar to those of pure Al electrode SAW filters in case of LN 128$^{\circ}$ Y-X, LN 64$^{\circ}$ Y-X, meaning that Ti thin film was not detrimental to the insertion loss and general frequency properties. The filters had the center frequencies 162MHz for LN 128$^{\circ}$ Y-X, 186MHz for 64$^{\circ}$ Y-X, and 131MHz for Quartz ST-cut substrates.
