Influences Analysis of SAS Azimuth Resolution on the UUV Trajectory Disturbances (수중 무인정 궤적 교란에 따른 SAS 방위해상도 영향에 대한 분석)

  • Active synthetic aperture sonar on the small UUV is generated several trajectory disturbances under the influences of underwater environments, and causing a large error in the synthetic aperture processing. In this paper, we analyzed the effects of azimuth resolution for the phase mismatch of the synthetic aperture focus processing when the periodic or random trajectory disturbances was generated on the side direction. The simulation results show that ghost targets are generated and azimuth resolution is very deteriorated when disturbance amplitude is greater than $0.3{\lambda}$ and disturbance period is greater than $2L_{sa}$ in the periodic trajectory disturbances environments. And detection performance on the seabed small objects by the synthetic aperture processing is shown that there is a significant effects on the azimuth resolution depending on the types and conditions of the platform trajectory disturbance variations.

A Comparison of Correction Models for the Prediction of Tropospheric Propagation Delay of GPS Signals (GPS 신호의 대류층 지연 예측을 위한 보정모델의 비교)

  • Since GPS's SA cancellation, the interest is converged in correction of errors such as atmospheric delay and multipath that weight had been small relatively, which can improve the accuracy of positioning through modelling research. The aim of this study have an extensive comparison of the various tropospheric delay models (Goad&Goodman, A&K, Hopfield and Sasstamoinen) and mapping functions(Niell, Chao, and Marini). Expecially, the tropospheric delay amounts by change of the GPS satellite elevations, and the delay by various combination between zenith delay models and mapping functions, compared and examined. For this, programmed the total delay models and the combined models which can be described as a product of the delay at the zenith and a mapping function. The result of study, especially, as the minimum elevation of included data is reduced under $10^{\circ}$, it was considered to be reasonable that the prediction of tropospheric delay considering combination and mapping character of functions about the transition of the zenith delay to a delay with arbitrary zenith angle.

Development of Empirical Fragility Function for High-speed Railway System Using 2004 Niigata Earthquake Case History (2004 니가타 지진 사례 분석을 통한 고속철도 시스템의 지진 취약도 곡선 개발)

  • The high-speed railway system is mainly composed of tunnel, bridge, and viaduct to meet the straightness needed for keeping the high speed up to 400 km/s. Seismic fragility for the high-speed railway infrastructure can be assessed as two ways: one way is studying each element of infrastructure analytically or numerically, but it requires lots of research efforts due to wide range of railway system. On the other hand, empirical method can be used to access the fragility of an entire system efficiently, which requires case history data. In this study, we collect the 2004 MW 6.6 Niigata earthquake case history data to develop empirical seismic fragility function for a railway system. Five types of intensity measures (IMs) and damage levels are assigned to all segments of target system for which the unit length is 200 m. From statistical analysis, probability of exceedance for a certain damage level (DL) is calculated as a function of IM. For those probability data points, log-normal CDF is fitted using MLE method, which forms fragility function for each damage level of exceedance. Evaluating fragility functions calculated, we observe that T=3.0 spectral acceleration (SAT3.0) is superior to other IMs, which has lower standard deviation of log-normal CDF and low error of the fit. This indicates that long-period ground motion has more impacts on railway infrastructure system such as tunnel and bridge. It is observed that when SAT3.0 = 0.1 g, P(DL>1) = 2%, and SAT3.0 = 0.2 g, P(DL>1) = 23.9%.

Acquisition of Geographic Information in North Korea Using High Resolution Satellite Image (고해상도 위성영상을 이용한 북한지역 지리정보 구축 실험연구)

  • As economic cooperation and exchanges between North and South Korea have been glowing much more than before, the demand for geographic information on North Korea is recently increasing. In fact, there is no specific method to be provided with geographic information on North Korea. In this regard, the study searched a method to collect geographic information on North Korea by using the high spatial resolution satellite image. In order to produce its best result, the study collected the geographic information on the case study area and ensured the location accuracy. This study produced total 52 items of geographic information on North Korea. Horizontal and vertical errors of stereo image, which are 4.6m and 0.9m respectively, showed high accuracy. In addition, even though the horizontal error of single image is 9m, which is bigger than that of stereo image, there is no doubt that it can be used as basic data for North Korean studies and related projects.

Approximate Solutions of Equations in Chosun Mathematics (방정식(方程式)의 근사해(近似解))

  • Since JiuZhang SuanShu(九章算術), the basic field of the traditional mathemtics in Eastern Asia is the field of rational numbers and hence irrational solutions of equations should be replaced by rational approximations. Thus approximate solutions of equations became a very important subject in theory of equations. We first investigate the history of approximate solutions in Chinese sources and then compare them with those in Chosun mathematics. The theory of approximate solutions in Chosun has been established in SanHakWonBon(算學原本) written by Park Yul(1621 - 1668) and JuSeoGwanGyun(籌書管見, 1718) by Cho Tae Gu(趙泰耉, 1660-1723). We show that unlike the Chinese counterpart, Park and Cho were concerned with errors of approximate solutions and tried to find better approximate solutions.

Interval Estimation in Mixed Model by Use of PROC MIXED (PROC MIXED를 활용한 혼합모형의 신뢰구간추정)

  • PROC MIXED in SAS can be utilized to make inferences on parameters in a mixed model by use of Restricted Maximum Likelihood Estimation Method or Maximum Likelihood Estimation Method which has more merits than ANOVA method. A regression model with unbalanced nested error structure that belongs to a mixed model is used to construct confidence intervals on variances among groups, within groups, and regression coefficients in the model. PROC MIXED is applied to three different sample sizes for simulation. As a result of the simulation study, PROC MIXED generates confidence intervals on parameters that maintain the stated confidence coefficient in a large sample size. However, it does not generate confidence intervals that maintain the stated confidence coefficient for variance components among groups and intercept in a small sample size.

  • The roof tiles excavated from the mountain fortress at Namsan-ri Seocheon-gun in Chungnam province were dated by using SAR protocol, Sample preparation was done with the quartz exclusion method. The paleodoses from 6 kinds of roof tiles were obtained from OSL measurements and the does rates of the soil around the excavated roof tiles and the tile themselves were measured from ICP/MS and ICP/AES with the conversion table. From the evaluated paleodose and the dose rate, the age of the roof tiles were determined to be from(733 ± 50)AD to (1160 ± 50)AD and the error was less than 10%.

  • This paper presents a numerical sensitivity analysis for the simulation of the motion performance of an offshore structure in waves using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Starting with 2D wave simulations with varying numerical parameters such as grid spacing and CFL value, proper numerical conditions were found for accurate wave propagation that avoids numerical diffusion problems. These results were mapped on 2D error distributions of wave amplitude and wave length against the numbers of grids per wave length and per wave height under a given CFL condition. Finally, the 2D numerical sensitivity result was validated through CFD simulation of the motion of a FPSO in waves showing good accuracy in motion RAOs compared with existing potential flow solutions.

  • The purpose of the study is to develop ship's bearing sensor using GPS receiver which can play a role as a ship's secondary compass. In this research, two GPS receivers are used to determine the bearing in real time. Then we investigated the bearing accuracy associated with the error pattern of two GPS receivers. Especially, the results are as follows the investigation on the system design of GPS-Compass, the modeling to compute heading of sailing, the analysis on bearing accuracy with the error pattern, the defining possibility to play a role as a ship's secondary compass.

  • This paper resents a prediction method of natural frequencies of coupled horizontal and torsional vibration of hull girder based on design sensitivity analysis in case of the changes of system parameters. The sensitivity analysis is formulated applying the direct differentiation method and transfer matrix method. In the analysis, warping, shear deformation due to torsion and the continuity condition at the connected part of open and closed hull section are considered. Using the presented method. The affection for natural frequencies by the change of system parameters, especially cargo and added mass and their centers, is numerically investigated for a real large container carrier.
