A Study on Scale Busting and Preventing Effect of Coating Ceramic Ball (코팅 세라믹볼의 방청효과에 관한 연구)

  • Coating ceramic balls activate water molecular in water as radiate far-infrared radiation of high efficiency, and then prevent formation of scale and corrosion of pipe. Therefore, but only keep away drop of heat exchange efficiency of boiler, not also remove formed scale. As a result, pipe of boiler has clean and has form thin protection film in inner of pipe. Also, the water treated by rust preventing system using the ceramic balls, that is harmless, tasteless, odorless, and non-toxicity in the human body, and it can use drinking water. This rust preventing system can save energy and protect environment.

  • The corroded surface of cold rolled steel sheet in the process of rinsing after alkali-cleaning was examined by means of X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy(XPS). In addition, the surface-treated cold rolled steel with 0.05wt% $Na_5P_3O_{10}$ solution for the purpose of preventing the corrosion was examined by means of XPS and the results were compared with those for the non-treated cold rolled steel. It was found that the corroded surface consists of $Fe_2O_3$, FeO and $Fe(OH)_3$ and the thickness of the oxide layer is about $1500{\AA}$. On the other hand, in the case of surface-treated cold rolled steel, the phosphate layer of $60{\AA}$ thickness was found to act as a protective film over the relatively thin Fe oxide layer.

  • Bacterial self-healing concrete is known to improve the durability of concrete by preventing the propagation of microcracks. In the literature, bacteria prevent the corrosion of rebar by inhibiting water transfer through crack, but also can promote the corrosion by acting as an ion acceptor in the rust generation mechanism. Therefore in this study, the electrochemical analysis of bio-filmed rebar was conducted to explore the effects of the self-healing bacteria on the bare rebar without cement composite. As a result of the experiment contradicting trends for Ecorr and Icorr occurred and additional experiment will be conducted in various environments to collect data on the mechanism of corrosion of rebar by bacteria.

Preparation and Analysis of Alkaline Powder Cleaning Agents for Steel (철강용 알칼리 분말세정제의 제조 및 세정해석)

  • Alkaline powder cleaning agents (APCAs) were prepared by blending of $Na_2CO_3$ tetrasodium pyrophosphate (TSPP). sodium orthosilicate (Na-OSi), Na-dioctyl sulfosuccinate (303C), Demol C, and MJU-100A (100A). The physical properties of APCAs tested with steel specimen showed the following results. The cleaning powers of APCA-6 ($Na_2CO_3$ 250g/TSPP 70g/Na-OSi 40g/303C 60g/Demol C 50g/100A 30g mixture) for press-rust preventing oil was 97% and 98% degreasing at 2wt%, $70^{\circ}C$ and $90^{\circ}C$, respectively; for Quenching oil, the cleaning power of APCA-6 was 95% degreasing at 2wt% and $70^{\circ}C$. From the results, it was ascertained that APCA-6 exhibited a good cleaning power. Also low foaming power tests proved that the APCA-6 maintained good defoaming effect.

Synthesis and Characteristics of Alkaline Degreasing Agents for Steel Containing Degreasing Components (탈지조성에 따른 철강용 알칼리탈지제의 합성 및 특성)

  • To prepare alkaline degreasing agents(SADAs), tetrasodium pyrophosphate(TSPP), $Na_2CO_3$, Tetronix T-701 (T-701), Na-dioctyl sulfosuccinate(303C), Demol C, and MJU-100A were blended. The prepared degreasing agents were tested with steel specimens and the results were as follows. The degreasing powers of SADA-6($Na_2CO_3$ 50g/TSPP 25g/T-701 10g/303C 15g/Demol C 12g/MJU-100A 8g/water 130g mixture) for press-rust preventing oil were 98% and 99% degreasing at 4wt%, 70 $^{\circ}C$ and 90 $^{\circ}C$, respectively; for quenching oil, the degreasing power of SADA-6 was 92% degreasing at 4wt% and 70 $^{\circ}C$. From these results, it was proved that the SADA-6 exhibits a good degreasing power. Foam heights measured immediately after foaming by Ross & Miles method and Ross & Clark method at 6wt% and 60 $^{\circ}C$ were 16mm and 40mm, respectively. SADA-6 was proved a good low foaming degreasing agent.

  • Alkaline cleaning agent(ACA) was prepared by blending of POE(4)octadecylmine(S-204), $Na_2CO_3$, sodium orthosilicate(Na-OSi). Tetronix T-701(T-701), and MJU-100A. The physical properties of ACA tested with steel specimen showed the following results. The cleaning powers of ACA-6(S-204 80g/$Na_2CO_3$, 160g/Na-OSi, 80g/T-701, 60g/MJU-100A, 20g mixture) for press-rust preventing oil was 98% and 99% degreasing at 2wt%, $70^{\circ}C$ and $90^{\circ}C$, respectively : for quenching oil, the cleaning power of ACA-6 was 95% degreasing at 2wt% and $70^{\circ}C$. From these results, it was ascertained that ACA-6 exhibited a good cleaning power. Foam heights measured immediately after foaming by Ross & Miles method and Ross & Clark method at 3wt%. $60^{\circ}C$ were 17mm and 40mm, respectively. As the result, ACA-6 was proved a good low foaming cleaning agent.

  • $Na_2CO_3$. Sodium orthosilicate (Na-OSi), Tetronix T-701 (T-701), Na-dioctyl sulfosuccinate (303C), Newpol PE-68 (PE-68), MJU-100A, and tetrasodium pyrophosphate were blended to prepare high performance alkaline cleaning agents (ACASs). The results of cleaning test with steel specimen showed that ACAS-6 ($Na_2CO_3$ 50g/Na-OSi 35g/T-701 20g/303C 18g/PE-68 17g/MJU-100A 10g/TSPP 20g/ water 180g mixture) had a good cleaning power. The cleaning power for press-rust preventing oil was 98% and 99% degreasing at 4wt%, $70^{\circ}C$ and $90^{\circ}C$, respectively ; for quenching oil, the cleaning power of ACAS-6 was 91% degreasing at 4wt% and $70^{\circ}C$. The foam heights measured immediately after foaming by Ross & Miles method and Ross & Clark method at 6wt%, $60^{\circ}C$ were 18mm and 65mm, respectively. It was concluded that ACAS-6 had a good low foaming cleaning agent.

The Joining Quality of High Strength Bolt, Nut and Washer Set (A490) in the Extreme Conditions (극한 상태에서 A490 고장력 볼트 세트의 체결 품질 연구)

  • This test focuses on the correlation between the lubrication, ductility and strength through the change of nut lubricant which decides joining angle for A490 bolt sets required in the AASHTO (American Association of State Highway & Transportation Officials). Because the lubrication of high tension bolt, nut, washer sets becomes an important factor to ductility and joining load, the quality improvement is required for improving reliability and securing enough lubrication of maker and user. This study examines the quality characteristics required in the specification through tests because only this standard specifies joining quality in the extreme conditions (as much about two times of the joining angle on site as normal condition). Moreover, this study is limited to the test on joining axial force required in the AASHTO for the three nut lubrication conditions of A490 bolt set. It is concluded that the nuts should be coated or waxed enough for the improvement of the joining axial force and ductility of bolts required in the standards. It is shown that in the case of plain high tension bolt sets, a rust preventing lubricative oil shall be applied and the torque coefficient value for A490 bolt sets should be maintained below 0.175.

A Study on the Corrosion Prevention of the Integral Series Generator for Military Vehicles (군용차량용 엔진일체형 직렬 발전기 부식 방지에 관한 연구)

  • The military vehicle produces electric power through an engine-integrated serial hybrid generator that is connected to the engine and does not have a separate generator installation space. However, depending on the mechanical characteristics of the connection between the generator and the engine, iron oxide for internal rusting and lubrication grew scattered. The iron oxide is adhered to the starter to deteriorate the starting performance, and there is a problem that the noise of the leg due to wear of the gear is increased. To solve this problem, the connection spline material and the surface treatment of the engine were improved and the shape was changed to a grease sealing type to prevent the generation of iron oxide inside. As the shape of the generator connector composing the shafting system was changed, the integrity of the structure was confirmed through the torsional endurance test. In addition, through the actual vehicle load test, it was verified that no corrosion occurred during the target life span without internal corrosion. It was confirmed that the anti-scattering structure of the grease effectively suppresses the generation of iron oxide, thereby reducing the noise generated from the generator. In this paper, we propose a fundamental solution to the degradation of the starter and the noise generation by preventing the back corrosion caused by the serial hybrid generator installed between the engine and the transmission.
