Recently, it is demanded to study about landscape. Landscape is an environment factor for improving life, a social resource for establishing image and identity of the area and also a tourist resource for earning profit. With this importance, landscape planning is being performed by local governments. However, classification for a rule about landscape planning is not prepared yet. For this purpose, classification of landscape is definitely required. Therefore, this article focuses on presenting method of classification Natural and Rural Landscape. We used Arcview 3.2 to draw watershed of the site, and calculated the percent of landform. We also took a picture which explain the landscape and made a survey of classifying the landscape. Due to this study, we were able to frame an algorithm of the landscape classification. This will contribute to classify the landscape type. This study needs more specific researches because it was supposed to target the entire Gyeonggi-Do however it only covered several regions. Through this results, it would be expected to develop the map of landscape character.
In order to improve the housing environment and quality of life for the rural elderly, this study aims to identify and present the status of community centers, most widely used by the elderly in rural areas. Through the literature review, type and space elements of community centers were derived and selected three target areas were investigated. As a result of literature analysis, the space type of rural community centers were classified as indoor space and outdoor space. The indoor space types were classified as entry space, public space, sanitary space and the outdoor space were classified as entry space and leisure space. Some community centers were surveyed in Seocheon-gun, Wanju-gun, and Cheongju-city. Results indicate the indoor and outdoor space design and elements were undergoing a lot of inconvenience partly because standard design was considered and the space was not planned for the physical, psychological and social health of the rural elderly. Therefore, this study will be used as a basis for building healthier and more friendly residential environments that can enhance the health and quality of life for the elderly in rural areas.

With regard to the clothing buying behavior by the type of clothing, several differences were found between rural and urban housewives. Purchase motivation for formal wear, was found to be "I don′t have one" in overall, yet having a significant frequency difference between rural and urban housewives. Major evaluation criteria were "color and design" and "fits to me" for formal wear and "comfort and fitness" and "price" for casual wear, also having a significant frequency difference between rural and urban housewives. 3. Rural area housewives bought their formal wear in stores offering "low price or sale" while urban housewives looked at "quality and variety". The major source of information was "display and direct observation" and "previous experience" in both cases. The rural housewives bought clothes when they had any "event" and urban housewives bought them when they had "extra money or sale".

The data were obtained through 318 samples of rural women under sixty years old who work full-time at their farms with their husbands. The questionnaire employed Likert-type scale with four-point, and then the data were analyzed by statistical methods of frequency, percentage, mean score, analysis of variance, t-test and Duncan test through SAS program. The significance level was p < .05. The results of this study are as follows ; 1) The average stress level of rural women was over 2.9 points out of 4. 2) The stress level showed meaningful correlation with such variables as age, education, perception on economic status, and recognition by their husbands and other family members. The rural women who are over forty years old, below high school, disregarded from their family members were marked high stress level. 3) The level of rural women's stress coping strategies was quite as low as 1.95 out of 4. 4) The level of coping strategies showed meaningful correlation with such socio-demographic variables as age, perception on economic status and job satisfaction level. Those who aged over 40, perceives low economic staus, lives together with husbands'parents, and shows “average” job satisfaction scored significantly lower coping strategy levels. 5) The level of stress didn't indicate significant relation with the type of coping strategy.

The purpose of this study is to verify the result of the previous studies and to clarify the types and activation factors of maintenance activities of the naturally favorable water space through the participation of residents in rural areas, through a further survey of the area proposed as a program in the existing study review and previous study related to the participation of residents. The survey was conducted through the survey of 1,242 households and 1,335 persons intended for Japanese rural areas. The study result is summarized as follows. The types of the maintenance activities in the areas intended for the survey have been classified into 'rural type' and 'combination type' through the analysis results by the references like the comparison analysis, job percentage and main utilization purpose of facilities for each type of maintenance and operation activities. In case of the 'rural type' area, residents were doing maintenance activities centered on the group activities rather than personal maintenance activities. Also, the activities of maintenance & operation group members were more active than non-members, and the water-friendly utilization to the facilities was not directly affecting the maintenance activities of residents. In case of the 'combinational type' area, there was no common characteristic according to each area, and the participation percentage in the maintenance activities was low compared with the 'rural type' area. According to the analysis result based on the participation degree of personal maintenance activities, the repair of facilities as a naturally favorable water space, implementation of projects reflecting the opinions of residents, educational programs conducted in order to motivate the participation of residents, etc. have been analyzed as the factors affecting the activation of maintenance activities of residents. Through the above results, for continuous maintenance activities to be made with residents as a main body in the future, it is necessary to support maintenance groups on an administrative level and procure experts for the production and operation of programs that can increase the participation percentage of residents.
Brown planthopper (BPH) is a serious insect pest of rice crop throughout rice growing countries, and yield loss due to its infection can be up to 60%. This study aimed to evaluate efficiency of molecular markers for screening BPH resistance accessions among 86 aromatic rice germplasm Eighty-six accessions of aromatic rice germplasm included two accessions of Tongil type (bred in Korea), 28 accessions of japonica type and 56 accessions of indica type. We applied eight STS markers (pBPH9, pBPH19, pBPH20, pBPH21, AJ09-b, RG457L, RG457B, and 7312.T4A) which were linked to four of BPH resistance genes, Bph1, Bph13(t), Bph10, and Bph18(t) respectively. One japonica type accession, 415XIr352, and six indica type accessions possessed one or four positive bands when tested with four STS markers linked to Bph1 gene. One indica type aromatic rice, Basmati9-93, showed the target bands linked to the Bph10 gene. The other accessions did not show same fragments as the respective resistant lines. Bph13(t) is the most widely introduced resistance gene and only one accession showed positive bands implying that this accession might harbor Bph10 and Bph18(t) genes. Three aromatic accessions, Domsiah, Khao Dawk Mali 105 and 415XIr352 showed gene pyramiding of Bph1 and Bph13(t). Two indica aromatic rice, Ds 20 and Basmati 9-93, possessed at least two BPH resistance genes, Bph1, Bph18(t) and Bph13(t), Bph18(t), respectively. These results indicates that aromatic rice germplasm have narrow diversities of BPR resistance genes.
The study is focused on making space of the abolished primary school for college dormitory in rural area which has regional type nearby city. We, firstly, analysed regional conditions and then surveyed various data for space conditions of dormitory. By surveying exterior space and interior renovation, and analysing the actual conditions of dormitory, we propose design factors and model of using facilities of the abolished primary school. So, the purpose of it is to suggest making space and a model of dormitory utilization of abolished school in regional type nearby city. It is a spacial case of re-using facilities of abolished school in rural area, but we expect that abolished school make an offer another type of using facilities.

This study analyzes the behaviors and images of city residents on the six Gyeongsangbuk-do rural theme villages. The results of analysis bring the following conclusions. 1) Behaviors of city residents are related with the images on rural villages. In addition, the better the image is, the higher their behaviors' needs. 2) Behaviors' needs become higher on the village as the image on 'Scale type' becomes better. 3) Especially, in case of Gimcheon and Gyeongju, we find a strong relationship between the images of 'Scale type' and 'Magnificent type' and behaviors; these villages should raise the scale and standard of villages by certain point.
