  • This research investigates the characteristicsw of NRRO in a 2.5" HDD by using FEM, modal testing and runout analysis, and reduces NRRO using visco-elastic damping material. Most frequency components of NRRO are generated by the defects of ball and rotating race, and they can be determined by the kinematic analysis of ball bearing. It also proposes the novel design of a spindle motor that can reduce NRRO effectively by inserting the visco-elastic damping material to one of the transmission path of NRRO, i.e., where the strain energy is highly concentrate. By this technique, NRRO is reduced by 27%. 27%.

  • A brake system in automobile is one of the important parts that directly affect the safety of passengers. Particularly, disk brake module is applied to almost all kinds of automobile brake system due to its remarkable braking power and braking distance. In the disk brake module of an automobile, the bolt for tire wheel is assembled to the disk brake hub by interference fit(bolt pressing process). The process induces small deformation whose range is within tens of ${\mu}m$ and this deformation may cause the runout badness of the whole disk brake module, and even braking problems such as judder or squeal phenomena which makes the loss of braking efficiency. In this study, bolt pressing fit into hub was simulated by $ANSYS^{TM}$, a commercial structure analysis program. Also, the aspect and the cause of hub displacement were analyzed and the solution for decreasing runout of hub was proposed.

인공신경망을 이용한 사태물질 이동거리 산정 (Assessment of Runout Distance of Debris using the Artificial Neural Network)

  • 본 연구는 우리나라에서 발생하는 산사태 유형의 대부분을 차지하는 토석류 산사태를 대상으로 사면하부로 이동되는 사태물질의 이동거리를 산정하기 위한 기법을 개발하기 위하여 수행되었다. 이를 위하여 최근 산사태가 발생한 지역 중 지질특성이 서로 다른 3개 지역에 서 선정한 24개 산사태를 대상으로 사태물질 이동범위의 정 밀 현장조사와 토질 실내시험 을 수행하고, 그 결과를 토대로 인공신경망을 적용하여 이동거리 산정기법을 제안하였다. 인공신경망 분석을 위한 입력자료는 개개 사면의 경사변화율, 원지반 투수계수, 건조밀도, 간극율, 사태물질의 체적, 측정한 확산거리 등 6개 항목이다. 인공신경망을 이용해 도출된 결과는 각 입력치에서 추론율이 우수하게 나타나 대부분 오차율 $10\%$이내 에 분포하고, 일부경우는 오차율 $5\%$$2\%$내에 분포하기도 한다. 이는 학습율이 대단히 좋은 것으로 해석 될 수도 있으나, 학습 자료가 24개 로서 비교적 적은 수이기 때문에 반드시 우수하다고 단정 할 수는 없다. 단, 본 연구에서 획득한 입력자료의 분포범 위가 전국 3개 지역에 걸친 넓은 범위임을 고려하면 대체로 우수한 추론율이라고 할 수도 있다. 향후 산정 결과의 신뢰도를 향상시키기 위해서는 더 많은 자료의 조사 및 해석이 수행되어야 할 것이다.

감쇠 구조물에 의한 토석류 토사체적 농도 변화에 관한 실험적 연구 (The Experimental Study for Variance of Sediment Volume Concentration of Debris Flow due to Damped Structures)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 급경사지 사면에서 토석류 재해가 발생했을 때, 토석류 저감 구조물의 효과를 조사한 실험연구이다. 제어 구조물로는 베플 형태를 취하였고, 베플의 설치 기수와 각 제원에 따라서 하류에서의 토석류에 의한 토사퇴적면적과 토사도달거리를 조사한 것이다. 수로의 경사가 급할수록 토사의 퇴적면적과 도달거리가 증가하였고, 토사체적농도가 감소할수록 토사퇴적면적과 토사의 도달거리가 증가하였다. 토사농도가 작은 경우(Cv = 0.5)는 토석류의 액성이 크기 때문에 수로 경사에 따른 차이가 나타났고, 전반적으로 토사체적농도가 클수록 토사퇴적면적과 토사의 도달거리 감소율이 크게 나타났다. 베플의 수를 증가할수록 토사퇴적면적과 도달거리를 약 5~10% 이상 감소하는 것으로 나타남으로서 베플의 토석류 제어능력이 있음을 보여주고 있다. 본 연구의 결과는 급경사지에서 토사재해가 발생할 때 감쇠 또는 제어 구조물을 설치할 때 중요한 정보를 제공할 것이다.

Influence of Manufacturing Errors on the Dynamic Characteristics of Planetary Gear Systems

  • A dynamic analysis using a hybrid finite element method was performed to characterize the effects of a number of manufacturing errors on bearing forces and critical tooth stress in the elements of a planetary gear system. Some tolerance control guidelines for managing bearing forces and critical stress are deduced from the results. The carrier indexing error for the planet assembly and planet runout error are the most critical factors in reducing the planet bearing force and maximizing load sharing, as well as in reducing the critical stress.

  • In this paper, the test of machinability according to the cutting positions when the ball end milling of hemispheric workpiece is carried out to find the optimum cutting position of free form surface die. Tool runout, cutting force. and chip form are measured. The results show that the optimum cutting condition to get the constant feed per tooth is the inclined angle of 40 degree of workpiece.

SCM415 스퍼기어의 침탄처리에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Carburizing Treatment of SCM415 Steel Spur Gear)

  • The main objective of this paper is obtaining the optimal carburizing hours which impacts geometric tolerances, OPD(Over Pin Diameter), runout, hardness and fatigure strength of SCM415 spur gear. In order to observe the deformation of the gear, the circularity, squareness, OPD(Over Pin Diameter) and runout were measured at 3hour, 4hour and 5hour respectively. As the result, the 3hour situation is the best, which very similar with the 4hour one. Afterwards, with the purpose of getting the result of gear hardness, the surface hardness, maximum hardness and interior hardness were measured. The result is 5h situation is the best, and it's similar with 4hour one. At last, the fatigue tests have been done which receive the result that the 4h situation showed 9~12% fatigue strength improvement compared with the 3h and 5h ones. To sum up the results, the 4hour situation shows the best performance in accuracy, hardness and fatigue strength.

  • This research develops an experimental method to measure the motion of a FDB spindle system with a 3.5' disk by using three capacitance probes fixed on the xyz-micrometers, and it shows that a FDB spindle system has the whirling, flying and tilting motion. It also shows that the whirling, flying and tilting motion converge very quickly to the steady state at the same time when the rotor reaches the steady-state speed. However, they are quite large even at the steady state when they are compared with the 10nm flying height of a magnetic head. For the FDB spindle system used in this experiment, the whirl radius and the peak-to-peak variation of flying height and tilting angle at the steady-state speed of 7,200rpm are 0.675m, 30nm and $5.758\times10^{-3^{\circ}}$, respectively, so that the radial motion of the FDB spindle system exceeds a track pitch of a 3.5' HDD with 90,000 TPI.

A New Approach Increasing the Rotational Accuracy of Ball- Bearing Spindle by Using Proper Bearing Positioning

  • In order to improve the quality of a spindle unit it is important to increase its rotational accuracy. The rotational accuracy of a spindle unit can be defined as the stability or immobility of its spindle axis while rotating. Spindle rotation in the rolling bearings causes the disturbing influence, which leads to the oscillation of a rotation axis. The purpose of this study is to investigate the oscillation sources and find a way to decrease the runout without additional expenses. The main source of oscillation is the interaction between rolling bodies and ring races. The first oscillation source was the out-of-shape imperfection of inner bearing ring. The mutual compensation of oscillation by proper rings orientation was proposed, which sometimes allow to decrease the radial runout of spindle rotation axis by approximate 40% down. Also the outer ring harmonics were explored as the second oscillation source. The analysis shows the dependency between the number of rolling bodies and the outer ring race harmonics. The conclusion on the orientation of bearing cages and the bearing rings was made, which makes possible to obtain the optimal variant of their mounting in the spindle unit when the rotational accuracy of the spindle is maximal, and the spindle runout considerably less.
