Construction and operation of Germ Free Pigs' facilities are very expensive because pigs' rooms and other major rooms of the facility require germfree environments. Especially, running the HVAC system of aseptic facilities requires a lot of expenses. However, proper location and efficient shape of outlets/inlets for the ventilation of the room can reduce the excessive running cost. In order to do that, this study proposes alternative location and shape of ventilation outlets/inlets to the existing design pattern in germfree pigs' room. The design condition of this study is the maintenance of adequate temperature(24$^{\circ}C$, $NH_3$concentration level(below 1.5 ppm), and air stream speed(below .25m/sec) in the pigs' room for the summer and the winter together. As the Software Program, FLUENT(Ver. 6.2) has been used for the analysis of proposed ventilation patterns. In conclusion, wall inlets and ceiling inlet/outlet are advisable in summer, wall inlets and ceiling outlets is advisable in winter. As far as the shape is concerned, diffuser type for the ceiling outlet is desirable.
The electricity cost of pumping system accounts for a large part of the total operating cost for long distance water supply networks. This study presents a method based on dynamic programming for establishing an joint optimal operation of pumps and storages system on a hourly basis. Analysis is taken of the relative efficiencies of the available pumps, the structure of the electricity tariff, the consumer-demand pattern, and the storage characteristics and operational constraints of the pipe. The possible system objectives and constraints are described. An application of the method to the existing Yangju Water Supply System consisted of two pump station and 5 storage pools under the condition of expanding pumping facility in the part of the Capital Area Water Supply System is presented, showing that considerable electricity cost savings are remarkable. The approach was found to be implementable in real system operation and large-scale water supply system design in respect of minimizing life-cycle total cost.

Increasing air pollution levels and the global oil crisis has become a major hindrance in the growth of our automobile sector. Traditional Internal Combustion engines running on non-renewable fuels are proving to be the major culprit for the harmful effects on environment. With few modifications and also with assistance of few additional components current small SI engines can be modified into a pneumatic engine (commonly known as Compressed Air Engines) without much technical complications where the working fluid is compressed air. The working principle is very basic as adiabatic expansion of the compressed air takes place inside the cylinder pushing the piston downwards creating enough MEP to run the crank shaft at decent RPM. With the assistance of new research and development on pneumatic engines can explore the potential of pneumatic engines as a viable option over IC engines. The paper deals with analysis on RPM variation with corresponding compressed air injection at different crank angles from TDC keeping constant injection time period. Similarly RPM variation can also be observed at different injection pressures with similar injection angle variation. A setup employing a combination of magnetic switch (reed switch), magnets and solenoid valve is used in order to injection timing control. A conclusive data is obtained after detailed analysis of RPM variation that can be employed in newly modified pneumatic engines in order to enhance the running performance. With a number of benefits offered by pneumatic engine over IC engines such as no emissions, better efficiency, low running cost, light weight accompanied by optimized injection conditions can cause a significant development in pneumatic engines without any major alteration.
Urban railway vehicles operate in downtown areas. Due to increases in the number of passengers and changes in the service plans, railway vehicles are expected to operate on sharp curved tracks. However, on these tracks, the running stability of the railway vehicles is significantly decreased and the creepage is increased. Creepage causes the wheel/rail to wear and vibration. Therefore, reducing the creepage helps ensure the running stability and can be beneficial for the environment and cost. In this paper, the longitudinal creepage is analyzed using a railway vehicle model on a sharp curved track. Furthermore, in order to minimize the problems when a railway vehicle runs on a sharp curved track, the characteristics of a bogie are optimized using response optimization.
The software rejuvenation method for highly available multiplex systems uses a pro-active fault-tolerant approach to handle system failures. The software rejuvenation prevents failures from occurring, while the previous methods recover from failures after happening. Especially, since the software aging proceeds fast in the software used for the multimedia mobile computing due to the loss of communications or data, the preventive method from failures using software rejuvenation can be used for the multimedia mobile computing. In this paper, according to the operational parameters such as rejuvenation period, rejuvenation time, failure rate and repair rate of the servers, number of running servers, duration of running time, and type of running modes, we calculate steady-state probabilities, downtime, availability, and cost of the multiplex systems using software rejuvenation method. We validate the closed-form solutions of the mathematical model by experiments based on various operational parameters and find that the software rejuvenation method can be adopted as preventive fault-tolerant technique. The failure rate and unstable rate of the servers are essential factors for the decision making of the rejuvenation policies.

Teaching aids Robot Education, through early education and contests, is very commonly known to elementary school students, their parents and teacher. However, not only we do not have complete knowledge of how robot education for after school performs, but also we lack a proper management skills in educating new teachers and running a structured program. Thus, through this research, we would like to identify the problems in teacher's knowledge and how the robot education is running according to provinces, size of cities, public private school, and size of schools and provide proper and most effective way of teaching after school robot class. According to the result of this research of running 'Robot class' in different area, sub-areas and size of schools, there was a meaningful difference and the biggest problem in performance was the class organization. In addition, about the expectation through after school classes, the research showed that the teachers expect lower cost of private education and improvement in creativity the most.
An cluster system used consist of large number of running servers, one has the problem that does the low availability occured by the high chance of the server failures and it is difficult to provide occuring software aging. In this paper, running cluster web servers consists of n primary servers and k backup servers, based on the operational parameters such as number of running primary servers, number of backup severs, rejuvenation period, rejuvenation time, failure rate of sewers, repair rate of servers, unstable rate of servers. We calculate to evaluate the rejuvenation policy such steady-state probabilities, downtime, availability, and downtime cost. We validate the solutions of mathematical model by experiments based on various operation parameters and find that the software rejuvenation method can be adopted as prventive fault tolerant technique for stability of system. The failure rate and unstable rate of the servers are essential factors for decision making of the rejuvenation policies.
Since most Green House Gases (GHGs) and air pollutants are generated from the same sources, it will be cost-effective to develop a GHGs reduction plan in combination with simultaneous removal of air pollutants. However, effects on air pollutants reduction according to implementing any GHG abatement plans have been rarely studied. Reflecting simultaneous removal of air pollutants along with the GHGs emission reduction, this study investigated relative cost effectiveness among GHGs reduction action plans in Busan Metropolitan City. We employed the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), a methodology that evaluates relative efficiency of decision-making units (DMUs) producing multiple outputs with multiple inputs, for the investigation. Assigning each GHGs reduction action plan to a DMU, implementation cost of each GHGs reduction action plan to an input, and reduction potential of GHGs and air pollutants by each GHGs reduction action plan to an output, we calculated efficiency scores for each GHGs reduction action plan. When the simultaneous removal of air pollutants with the GHGs reduction were considered, green house supply-insulation improvement and intelligent transportation system (ITS) projects had high efficiency scores for cost-positive action plans. For cost-negative action plans, green start network formation and running, and daily car use control program had high efficiency scores. When only the GHGs reduction was considered, project priority orders based on efficiency scores were somewhat different from those when both the removal of air pollutants and GHGs reduction were considered at the same time. The expected action plan priority difference is attributed to great difference of air pollutants reduction potential according to types of energy sources to be reduced.
Mobile cloud computing is a technology that uses cloud services to overcome resource constrains of a mobile device, and it applies the computation offloading scheme to transfer a portion of a task which should be executed from a mobile device to the cloud. If the communication cost of the computation offloading is less than the computation cost of a mobile device, the mobile device commits a certain task to the cloud. The previous cost analysis models, which were used for separating functions running on a mobile device and functions transferring to the cloud, only considered the amount of data transfer and response time as the offloading cost. In this paper, we proposed a new task partitioning scheme that considers the frequency of function calls and data synchronization, during the cost estimation of the computation offloading. We also verified the energy efficiency of the proposed scheme by using experimental results.

Although the life-spans of most apartment buildings are over fifty years, they are often demolished and retrofitted only after twenty years, in spite of its remaining life expectancy, resulting in economical waste. The purpose of this paper is to estimate optimum remodeling period of apartment buildings using total cost. In this study it is seen that total sum of running cost of life-span on the buildings is about 4.69 times of initial cost till the fifty years of the life expectancy. The optimum remodeling period of the apartment building is thirty years applying the discount rate of $4.17\%$ and the discount rate should be $6.122\%$ to obtain the forty years of the optimum remodeling period. From the sensitivity analysis based on the change of the discount rates, it is seen that if discount rate decreases the optimum remodeling period can be extended, or vice versa. As a result, a time of the demolished and remodeling can be expected and the basic data can also be established for lengthening life-span of the apartment buildings.
