This research provides the results of a trial to generate the chaos by using nonlinear function constructed by fuzzy inference rules. The chaos generation function or chaotic behavior can be obtained by using Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model with some constraint of the relationship of its parameters. Two examples are shown in this research. The first is simple example that construct of logistic image by fuzzy model. The second is more complicated one that provide the chaotic time series by non-linear autoregression based on fuzzy model. Simulated results are shown in these examples.

This study suggests the hedging rule of MIP (Mixed Integer Programing) in counting the risk evaluation criteria of the objective function and constraints in order to provide the optimum operating rule in reservoir system as constraining water shortage as much as possible which may happen in the downstream control point of water supply in the aspect of water system management. The proposed model is applied to the Han-river reservoir system for two testing periods (Case I: Jan. 1993~Dec. 1997, Case II: Jan. 1999~Dec. 2003). The model based on the hedging rule with trigger volume, estimated in this study shows that in Case I, the monthly minimum discharge was $310.6{\times}10^6m^3$ in the single operation, $56.3{\times}10^6m^3$ in the joint operation, and $317.5{\times}10^6m^3$ in the hedging rule and also, in Case II, the monthly minimum discharge was found to be $204.2{\times}10^6m^3$ in the single operation, $111.2{\times}10^6m^3$ in the joint operation, and $243.7{\times}10^6m^3$ in the hedging rule. In conclusion, the hedging rule, proposed in this study can decrease vulnerability while guarantees reliability and resiliency.

Fuzzy logic ignores some information in the reasoning process. Neural networks are powerful tools for the pattern processing, but, not appropriate for the logical reasoning. To model human knowledge, besides pattern processing capability, the logical reasoning capability is equally important. Another new neural network called neural logic network is able to do the logical reasoning. Because the fuzzy inference is a fuzzy logical reasoning, we construct fuzzy inference network based on the neural logic network, extending the existing rule- inference. network. And the traditional propagation rule is modified. For the search strategies to find out the belief value of a conclusion in the fuzzy inference network, we conduct a simulation to evaluate the search costs for searching sequentially and searching by means of search priorities.
This paper suggests a multi-attribute dispatching rule for an automated guided vehicle(AGV). The attributes to be considered are the number of queues in outgoing buffers of workstations, distance between an idle AGV and a workstation with a job waiting for the service of vehicle, and the number of queues in input buffers of the destination workstation of a job. The suggested rule is based on the simple additive weighting method using a normalized score for each attribute. A neural network approach is applied to obtain an appropriate weight vector of attributes based on the current status of the manufacturing system. Backpropagation algorithm is used to train the neural network model. The proposed dispatching rules and some single attribute rules are compared and analyzed by simulation technique. A number of simulation runs are executed under different experimental conditions to compare the several performance measures of the suggested rules and some existing single attribute dispatching rules each other.

A framework proposed in this paper includes representations of multi-objectives rule-basd constraint satisfaction problem(RCSP) and especially, flexible structure of RCSP which provides adequate solution sithin an expectation time and adaptively considers some change of constratraints on the RCSP. In this study, the power system implemented by above framework is entirely programmed by using a modeling system for the quantitative model and a rule-based constraint programming tool for the qualitative model. The results of an exemplary cse show how the structure that involves the problem representation gives the scheduler an effective decision and what are the advantages of the easy and diverse representation for considering the techmical characteristics of the units on the RCSP over the traditional problem.

The PID controller has been widely used in industrial applications due to its simple structure and robustness. Even if it is initially well tuned, the PID controller must be retuned to maintain acceptable performance when there are system parameter changes due to the change of operation conditions. In this paper, a self-tuning control scheme which comprises a parameter estimator, a NN-based rule emulator and a PID controller is proposed, which can cope with changing environments. This method involves combining neural networks and real-coded genetic algorithms(RCGAs) with conventional approaches to provide a stable and satisfactory response. A RCGA-based parameter estimation method is first described to obtain the first-order with time delay model from over-damped high-order systems. Then, a set of optimum PID parameters are calculated based on the estimated model such that they cover the entire spectrum of system operations and an optimum tuning rule is trained with a BP-based neural network. A set of simulation works on systems with time delay are carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

The rule based system is inference engine which can correspond quickly to new business model change and improvement requirement by dealing with the business know-how and expert knowledge as well as business process of enterprise and has been trying to apply to the various industries. As a part of application cases for rule-based system, we develop and implement the rule-based insurance product recommend and design system for the efficient decision making of insurance product in insurance industry which is sensitively affected by needs of customers, various kinds of product, and environment changes. The process of fuzzy inference of the developed system helps to recommend and design the proper Insurance product using the information of the present customer and the previous members. This approach is expected that it will be the core technology for the recommendation and design of the tailored insurance product by deciding and corresponding needs of various kinds of customer quickly in future insurance industry.

In this paper, a rule checker which aids in composing a consistent knowledge base by checking redundancies and inconsistencies in a knowledge base is proposed. The proposed algorithm checks the rules by representing the rule connections as a network . The standard model of the rules adapted in this algorithm is in the Conjunctive Normal Form which includes NOT's, and rules of conventional expert system can be checked by converting them into the standard form by a rule form at converter. When compared with Ginsberg's KB-reducer which is conceptually most similar to the proposed algorithm among existing methods,it is shown by a computer simulation that with 360 rules, the checking time is three times faster and the rate increased as the number of rules increased, but the total memory requirement of the proposed agorithm is 1.2 times larger. The proposed algorithm has further advantages in that it can check circular rule chains and can find the paths of the redundant and inconsistent rules.
The present fractional-order plasticity models for granular soil are mainly established under the triaxial compression condition, due to its difficult in analytically solving the fractional differentiation of the third stress invariant, e.g., Lode's angle. To solve this problem, a three dimensional fractional-order elastoplastic model based on the transformed stress method, which does not rely on the analytical solution of the Lode's angle, is proposed. A nonassociated plastic flow rule is derived by conducting the fractional derivative of the yielding function with respect to the stress tensor in the transformed stress space. All the model parameters can be easily determined by using laboratory test. The performance of this 3D model is then verified by simulating multi series of true triaxial test results of rockfill.
Feature models are widely used in domain engineering phase of software product lines development to model the common and variable concepts among products. From the feature model, the feature configurations are generated by selecting the features to be included in target product. The feature configuration represents the requirements for the specific product to be implemented. Although there are a lot of researches on how to build and use the feature models and feature configurations, the researches on the formal semantics and reasoning of them are rather inactive. This paper proposes the feature configuration verification approach based on JESS, java-based rule-base system. The Graph Product Line, a standard problem for evaluating the software product line technologies, is used throughout the paper to illustrate this approach. The approach in this paper has advantage of presenting the exact reason causing inconsistency in the feature configuration. In addition, this approach should be easily applied into other software product lines development environments because JESS system can be easily integrated with Java language.
