In this paper we describe Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS) using Petri nets, since Petri nets provide a powerful tool for modeling dynamical behavior of discrete concurrent processes. We deal with off-Line and on-Line rule-based scheduling of FMS. The role of the rule-base is to generate appropriate priority rule for resolving conflicts, that is, for selecting one of enabled transitions to be fired in a conflict set of the Petri nets. This corresponds to select a part type to be processed in the FMS. Towards developing more Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (IMS) we propose a conceptual framework of a futuristic intelligent scheduling system.
As the mask design rules get smaller, the probability of the process failure becomes higher doc to the narrow overlay margin between the contact and metal interconnect layers. To obtain the minimum process margin, a tabbing and cutting method Is applied with the rule based optical\ulcorner proximity correction to the metal layer, so that the protection to bridge problems caused by the insufficient space margin between the metal layers can be accomplished. The side-lobe phenomenon from the attenuated phase shift mask with the tight design rule is analyzed through the aerial image simulation for test patterns with variation of the process parameters such as numerical aperture, transmission rate, and partial coherence. The corrected patterns are finally generated by the rules extracted from the side-lobe simulation.
The objective of this study is to develop a rule-based fault detection and diagnosis algorithm and an experimental verification using air handling unit. To develop an analytical algorithm which precisely detects a faulted component, energy equations at each control volume of AHU were applied. An experimental verification was conducted in the AHU at Green Building in KIER. In the experiment conducted in hot summer condition, the rule based FDD algorithm isolated a faulted sensor from HVAC components.
This paper presents an efficient short-term generation scheduling method using a rule-based expert/consulting system approach to assist electric energy system operators and planners. The expert system approach is applied to improve the Dynamic Programming(DP) based generation scheduling algorithm. In the selection procedure of the feasible combinations of generating units at each stage, automatic consulting on the manipulation of several constraints such as the minimum up time, the minimum down time and the maximum running time constraints of generating units will be performed by the expert/consulting system. In order to maximize the solution feasibility, the aforementioned constraints are controlled by a rule-based expert system, that is, instead of imposing penalty cost to those constraint violated combinations, which sometimes may become the very reason of no existing solution, several constraints will be manipulated within their flexibilities using the rules and facts that are established by domain experts. In this paper, for the purpose of implementing the consulting of several constraints during the dynamic process of generation scheduling, an expert system named STGSCS is developed. As a building tool of the expert system, C Language Integrated Production System(CLIPS) is used. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm has been demonstrated by applying it to a model electric energy system.
In this paper a self-organizing fuzzy system with rule pruning is proposed. A conventional self-organizing fuzzy system having only rule generation has a drawback in generating many slightly different rules from the existing rules which results in increased computation time and slowly learning. The proposed self-organizing fuzzy system generates fuzzy rules based on input-output data and prunes redundant rules which are caused by parameter training. The proposed system has a simple structure but performs almost equivalent function to the conventional self-organizing fuzzy system. Also, this system has better learning speed than the conventional system. Simulation results on several numerical examples demonstrate the performance of the proposed system.
PA(postero-anterior) and AP(antero-posterior) chest projections are the most sought-after types of all kinds of projections. But if a radiological technologist puts wrong information about the position in the computer, the orientation of left and right side of an image would be reversed. In order to solve this problem, we utilized CNN(convolutional neural network) which has recently utilized a lot for studies of medical imaging technology and rule-based system. 70% of 111,622 chest images were used for training, 20% of them were used for testing and 10% of them were used for validation set in the CNN experiment. The same amount of images which were used for testing in the CNN experiment were used in rule-based system. Python 3.7 version and Tensorflow r1.14 were utilized for data environment. As a result, rule-based system had 66% accuracy on evaluating whether the orientation reversal on chest x-ray image. But the CNN had 97.9% accuracy on that. Being overcome limitations by CNN which had been shown on rule-based system and shown the high accuracy can be considered as a meaningful result. If some problems which can occur for tasks of the radiological technologist can be separated by utilizing CNN, It can contribute a lot to optimize workflow.
Our paper describes an Intrusion Detection Parallel System(IDPS) which detects an anomaly activity corresponding to the actions that interaction between near detection events. IDES uses parallel inductive approaches regarding the problem of real-time anomaly behavior detection on rule-based system. This approach uses sequential rule that describes user's behavior and characteristics dependent on time. and that audits user's activities by using rule base as data base to store user's behavior pattern. When user's activity deviates significantly from expected behavior described in rule base. anomaly behaviors are recorded. Observed behavior is flagged as a potential intrusion if it deviates significantly from the expected behavior or if it triggers a rule in the parallel inductive system.
Digital CAD models are one of the most important assets the manufacturer holds. The trend toward concurrent engineering and outsourcing in the distributed development and manufacturing environment has elevated the importance of high quality CAD model and its efficient exchange. But designers have spent a great deal of their time repairing CAD model errors. Most of those poor quality models may be due to designer errors caused by poor or incorrect CAD data generation practices. In this paper, we propose a rule-based approach for healing CAD model errors. The proposed approach focuses on the design history data representation from a commercial CAD model, and the procedural method for building knowledge base to heal CAD model. Through the use of rule-based approach, a CAD model healing system can be implemented, and experiments are carried out on automobile part models.
In this paper, we propose a Transformation-Based Learning (TBL) method on generating the Korean standard pronunciation. Previous studies on the phonological processing have been focused on the phonological rule applications and the finite state automata (Johnson 1984; Kaplan and Kay 1994; Koskenniemi 1983; Bird 1995). In case of Korean computational phonology, some former researches have approached the phonological rule based pronunciation generation system (Lee et al. 2005; Lee 1998). This study suggests a corpus-based and data-oriented rule learning method on generating Korean standard pronunciation. In order to substituting rule-based generation with corpus-based one, an aligned corpus between an input and its pronunciation counterpart has been devised. We conducted an experiment on generating the standard pronunciation with the TBL algorithm, based on this aligned corpus.
