The book is a footnote of life and memory, a sign of knowledge and intelligence, including divinity and reason, idols and destruction, praise and curse, arrogance and prejudice, truth and falsehood. The past emperors, monarchs, priests, and rulers have been controlled or slaughtered by censorship and prohibition, burning and destruction, etc. In ancient history, archaeology, war history, cultural history, and library and information science, many studies have been conducted on the burning and destruction of books, but the Western perspective is dominant, and there are nationalistic approaches and logical leaps. This study traced the truth about the destruction of the Royal Library of Alexandria in Egypt, destruction of the Baghdad libraries by the Mongol Empire, and burning more than 200,000 volumes of Korean historical documents of Japanese Government-General in Korea among the major bibliocausts with many mysteries and controversial issues in the East and West. As a result, the Royal Library of Alexandria is most likely destroyed under the rule of the Roman Empire. The massacre of the Baghdad library by the Mongolian army is a historical fact, not the manipulation and extreme exaggeration of western society. And Korean historical documents have been stolen and burned by the Government-General of Chōsen for 35 years and should be recognized as '200,000 + α'. Lastly, On the premise of excavating historical materials, research to investigate the truth behind the blibiocaust or libricide should be continued.
An expressed sequence tag (EST) library was established from the hypopharyngeal glands of Apis cerana. Sixty-six recombinant clones, possessing inserts >500 bp, were randomly selected and unidirectional sequenced. Forty-two of these (63.6%) were identified as homologues of Major Royal Jelly Proteins families 1, 2, 3, and 4 of A. mellifera (AmMRJP) for which MRJP1 was the most abundant family. The open-reading frame of the MRJP1 homologue (AcMRJP1) was 1299 nucleotides that encoded 433 deduced amino acids with three predicted N-linked glycosylation sites. The AcMRJP1 sequence showed 93% and 90% homologies with nucleotide and deduced amino acid sequences of AmMRJP1, respectively. Two complete transcripts of apisimin, and one and two partial transcripts of $\alpha$-glucosidase and glucose oxidase, were also isolated. In addition, the royal jelly proteins of A. cerana were purified and characterized using Q-Sepharose and Sephadex G-200 column chromatography. The native forms of protein peaks A1, A2, B1, and C1 were 115, 55, 50, and 300 kDa, respectively. SDS-PAGE analysis indicated that A1 and C1 were dimeric and oligomeric forms of the 80 kDa and 50 kDa subunits, respectively. The ratio of the total protein quantities of A1 : A2 : B1 : C1 were 2.52 : 4.72 : 1 : 12.21. Further characterization of each protein, using N-terminal and internal peptide sequencing, revealed that the respective proteins were homologues of MRJP3, MRJP2, MRJP1, and MRJP1 of A. mellifera.

Western society has depreciated the Middle Ages as the 'Darkness'. However, if Islam, which led the medieval millennium, had not spread paper and art of papermaking, and Arabic translations to the Western countries, translating and interpreting Arabic manuscripts into Greek and Latin, Gutenberg's printing press, Reformation, and Renaissance could not take place. They were not destructors of ancient knowledge and civilization, but were the protagonists of restoration and resurrection. The base camp is the Mosque and Islamic library(the House of Wisdom), which was referred to as a Muslim community. This study traced Islamic libraries that emerged in the process of establishing the Islamic dynasties and controlling Arabian Peninsula, Africa, Iberian Peninsula. For this purpose, the Islamic library was divided into the caliph library led by the royal families, the public library attached to the mosques, and the private library established by the viziers and scholars, etc. Then, the researcher analyzed history and development, roles and functions, impact and Importance on human civilization, and stagnation and decline, focusing on major libraries that existed in the Islamic cities of Damascus, Mecca, Baghdad, Aleppo, Cordoba, Cairo, Fes, Tunis, etc.

Sulwhaji(雪花紙, meaning "snow-white flower paper") had been originally manufactured before 16th century until after 19th century in Pyunggang, Korea, which represented the typical characteristics of traditional Korean paper. Since 17th century, however, it had been also made in Namwon, Sunchang, Jinju and so on. Its material was mulberry bark tree and was bleached beautifully white by using snow. It was highly qualified mainly used for painting, caligraphy, and book printing. That had been used in the Royal palace and as cherished gift for foreign envoys.
Three buildings -Jibokjae, Hyubgildang and Palujung- are connected each other and consist of a library and reception complex for royal kings at Kyungbok Palace in Seoul. Jibokjae and Hyubgildang were known to have been moved from Changdok Palace in A.D. 1891. No construction records have been known for Palujung. In 2004, during repair of three buildings, a dendrochronological analysis was conducted to examine their building histories. We took 67 wood samples for dendrochronological analysis; 20 from Jibokjae, 37 Hyubgildang and 10 Palujung, respectively. The results showed that the felling dates of Jibokjae and Hyubgildang woods were A.D. 1877-1879/1880, indicating original construction of two buildings at early 1880s. Felling dates of Palujung were 1886-1889/1890, those of roof filling timbers 1890 and the connection part between Hyubgildang and Jibokjae 1886, confirming 1891's movement of Hyubgildang and Jibokjae and adding a new building, Palujung.

The content systems of Shinjung Tongguk Yoji Sungnam(신증동국여지승람, A Korean Geography Published in Chosen Dynasty) consist of 26 items and the main subject comprises administration, military and geography, This book does not suggest a simple geography but a comprehensive bibliography as an administrative guide book of a nation or a military operation manual. In particular, this book is made much of as a more valuable material in elevating the quality of the geographic book since it contained a 'Cheyong(제영)' item and reinforced the fields of humanities which could not be found out in other geography. The verses of Cheyong are recorded in the documents in the Chungchong, Kyungsang and Chulla Provinces, and these recorded verses In the tree provinces are more than half of the whole country's. The objects of recitation in the these verses are related to such natural phenomena and historic relics as the mountains, the livers, the wails and the royal tombs.

The Naesabones(內賜本) are the books awarded to the organizations and the individuals by the Kings of Joseon(朝鮮) Dynasty. The organizations include the history archives[史庫], the government offices[官廳], the private academies[書院] and the county public schools[鄕校]. The individuals include the royal family members and the members of the cabinet. In Joseon Dynasty, the books were distributed to the government offices, the members of the cabinet, and the people who participated in printing that book. Also after the official ceremonies, the books were given as the rewards. The purpose of this study is to examine the bibliographical features of the naesabones - especially awarded to the individuals - now in Kyujanggak.
This paper deals with the study of a manuscript on Rakhine history which is deposited today in Oriental and India Office Collection of the British Library as the accession number OR 3465 A. The External Criticism of this manuscript shows that it is a manuscript, which was commissioned Nga Mi to compile by Sir Arthur P. Phayre by making references of the existing Rakhine chronicles in the early colonial period, as Phayre wanted a historical account with an outline of the royal dynasties. The Internal Criticism reveals that the compiler Nga Mi did not invent the writing of his own but drawn the sources from various Rakhine chronicles in compiling his work. And Sir Arthur Phayre who used this Nga Mi Chronicle or OR 3465 A as the chief source in writing Rakhine history. He did not analyse the mythical, supernatural and improbable elements in Nga Mi Rakhine Razawin. Phayre did not problematicize any historical issue from Nga Mi Chronicle. One of the outstanding examples of the legend of King Min Saw Mon is discussed in this paper. As Arthur Phayre took this account from Nga Mi Chronicle and framed the story into a convincing narrative in his "History of Burma", the scholars after Phayre have continued to present the legend as a historical fact.
