Preferences on living arrangement and residence of the elderly depend on various changing factors as they get old. Among those factors, predictable and crucial factors are the condition of their health and spouse. Thus, this study is focused on living arrangement and the residential preference of the elderly according to their health and existence of a spouse. A sample of 500 elderly aged over 65 is analyzed by $x^2$ test, and multiple logistic regression. The results could be summarized as follows; First, 45.2% of the elderly who participated in this survey prefer 'living apart from their children but living close by'. And 19.8% of the elderly want to 'live with their children'. Second, the elderly with a spouse and the elderly who live apart from their children tend to prefer living independently. Third, the elderly with good health living in single-family houses and the elderly with high self-esteem tend to prefer the residential facilities for the elderly. Fourth, the elderly with health problems who have generous allowances and live in a city tend to prefer the residential facilities for the elderly. Fifth, factors such as gender, age, condition of health, allowances, living regions, type of house, self-esteem influence residential preferences of the elderly without a spouse. This study is to analyze the residential spatial composition structures of vernacular agricultural village which to be called Wanggok in Yeongdong area. The results of this study are as follows; ${\cdot}$ The backyard of farmhouses is surrounded by a fence and a frontyard is open to the road, so that the spatial realm system from the road to the backyard is classified as public-semi public-private realm. ${\cdot}$ The plan type of this village is mainly composed of ㅡ type Gyeobjib (the two row rooms under one roof) and ㄱ type Gyeobjib, the Anmaru (the inner wood floor to be surrounded with wall) in both of which plays an important role that connects Sarangbang (the men's main room) with Anbang (the women's main room) in the residential space. ${\cdot}$ The particular item that not found out in another area is the Sarangbang kitchen which located to Sarangbang's side wall to be furnished with a fire hole. ${\cdot}$ The houses represent the socio-cultural environmental elements of those built days, such as while Sarangbang is faced on a frontyard to be open to the neighborhood, Anbang is faced on a backyard surrounded with a fence to be closed to the one. ${\cdot}$ The Gyeobjib with Anmaru appeared by cultural transformation connecting the 田-shaped house of Hamgyeongdo with the Gyeobjib with Anmaru of Gangwondo and Gyeongsangbukdo. ${\cdot}$ The ㄱ type Gyeobjib is preferred to ㅡ type Gyeobjib because of the sea wind and the north-east wind occurring by geographical and climatic environment elements, the privacy protection according to look into a frontyard, the muck drainage of cowshed to make use of ground unevenness, the economic gains called material saving and the intention to enlarge the frontyard as to be concentrated in a residential space and etc.

This paper examined characteristics of folk houses related to climate in Cheju island using climate data, documents and field survey data. Precipitation and humidity affect characteristics of folk houses in the southern parts of the island during summer while in winter, northern parts are mainly affected by wind. Chuck-gub has been shown through all over Cheju island due to the characteristics of precipitation. Jaechangmoon exists in southern parts of the island and these parts are experienced high humidity in summer The double-row room houses, the low eaves, gentle slop roof and stone wall are distributed through Cheju island and is related to wind. The double door is common in the northern parts because of strong winter monsoon, and Yimoonkan exists in the coastal area of the northern parts. Outer wall, Pung-Che and Gorangche are affected by winter monsoon and abundant precipitation. Gorangche has shown through both the northern parts and southeastern parts. Folk houses in the southern parts are more open than in northern parts. Folk houses in the northern parts are divided into the coastal type and the piedmont type. In the southern parts, they are subdivided the eastern type and the western type by the appearance of Gorangche.
Swordbean was recently introduced to Korea, and cultural technique for stable production, e.g. optimum seeding date and planting space, has not been established. This experiment was conducted to elucidate the changes of growth characteristics, yield components, and yield as affected by different seeding dates and planting spaces. Days to flowering was shortened by 4∼28 days as seeding was delayed. Stem diameter, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per plant, 100-seed weight, and seed yield tended to increase with delaying seeding up to 5 April and then to decrease with further delaying seeding. These results indicate that optimum seeding date of swordbean in unheated polyvinyl house would be early April. Although, the swordbean exhibited large increases in plant height, number of branches per plant, and stem diameter at the wider spacings, planting space could be decreased to the 60 cm plant-spacing and 30 cm row-spacing with no deleterious effect on yield.

Bongik-dong, Kwonnong-dong, Ikseon-dong and Nakwon-dong are areas around Donhwamun-ro in Seoul. These residential areas began to be developed collectively from the 1920s and the construction period was the fastest among hanok residences collectively formed in urban center. At that time, houses were developed with high density. In the 1920s, many medium-sized plots of less than 3,300m2 were distributed around Donhwamun-ro. Private developers such as Jeong Se-kwon(Konyangsa), Shin Tae-jong, and Yoon Heung-rim, who were active at the time, purchased medium-sized plots. Developers sold out the land directly or after constructing Hanok on the divided plot and then selling them. This method of developing hanok residences by private developers in the 1920s have influenced on hanok residences which began to be developed after the 1930s. Currently, many urban Hanoks still remain in areas around Donhwamun-ro. The initial aspects of the hanok development in the 1920s could be grasped through blocks, plot division, alleys, row house Hanok etc around Donhwamun-ro.
