Parameter estimations were made for the reversed-phase adsorption of perillyl alcohol (POH), a potent anti-cancer agent, on octadecylsilyl-silica gel (ODS). The average particle diameter of ODS was about $15\;{\mu}m$, and the particles were packed in the column $(3.9\;\times\;300mm)$. The mobile phase used was a mixture of acetonitrile and water, in which the acetonitrile ranged between 50 and $70\;(v/v\;\%)$. The first absolute moment and the second central moment were determined from the chromatographic elution curves by moment analysis. Experiments were carried out using POH solutions within the linear adsorption range. The fluid-to-particle mass transfer coefficient was estimated using the Wilson-Geankoplis equation. The axial dispersion coefficient and the intra particle diffusivity were determined from the slope and intercept of a plot of H vs $1/u_0$, respectively. The contributions of each mass-transfer step were axial dispersion, fluid-to-particle mass transfer, and intraparticle diffusion.

This study was conducted to investigate effect of ionic strength and feeding times of a nutrient solution on reduction of stem cavity size and improvement of flower quality in chrysanthemum 'Baekma'. A nutrient solution was applied with different strengths at three stages, namely, transplanting, budding, and flowering. The solution EC was adjusted as 1.61.82.0, 1.81.81.8, 1.82.01.8, and $2.02.02.0dS{\cdot}m^{-1}$ in four treatments. Feeding frequency per a day were 4 times for 12 min., 8 times for 6 min., 12 times for 4 min., and 18 times for 2.7 min. each. Cut flower length as affected by different strengths of a nutrient solution was the greatest in the plot of EC $2.02.02.0dS{\cdot}m^{-1}$. However number of leaves, stem diameter, and leaf size were greater in EC $1.82.01.8dS{\cdot}m^{-1}$ than in other treatments. Also, petal number of petals was the greatest and stem cavity size was the smallest in the plot of EC $1.81.81.8dS{\cdot}m^{-1}$. Plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, leaf size were greater in the plot with 12 times feed ing per a day. number of petal was most in the plot with 8 times feeding per day, while stem cavity size was the smallest in the plot with 12 times feed ing per a day. Therefore, the better plant growth, the smaller stem cavity size.

This study was conducted to investigate how a labor saving for conventional hand sowing and respond to major agronomic traits under different planting density in 1993 and 1994. Each trial was a randomized block split plot with row spacing as the main plots and hill spacing as subplots. Sowing rate appeared lower in 20 or 25cm hill spacing using machine seeder than in hand sowing. Sowing time required reduced more 121 hours per hectare in 60cm row, 20cm hill spacings using machine seeder than in hand sowing. Increasing row and hill spacings reduced number of seedling stand per unit $area(m^2)$. Both number of pods per plant and grain weight per plant and showed highly increase in wide planting. Best yield obtained in 60cm row, 20cm hill spacing using machine seeder. Accumulative mean air temperature was positively correlated with stem height, number of pods per plant and yield, otherwise accumulative rainfall was negatively correlated with ones. A highly significant negative correlation was showed between number of seedling stand per unit $area(m^2)$ and number of branches, number of pods per plant, grain weight per plant and yield. Yield was positively correlated with number of branches, number of pods per plant and grain weight per plant.

In this Paper, we present a non-doglegging channel routing system for If layout using standard cells. This system produces a final two-layer wiring pattern in the horizontal track between two rows, each of which is a linear placement of standard cells of identical heights, satisfying the given net list specification. The layout of CMOS cell library Including nine primitive cells used in this paper is represented in CIF (Caltech Intermediate Form) using λ(Lambda) of 2 microns in Mead-Conway layout representation scheme. The cell dimension and 1/0 characteristics such as name, position and layer type of the pins are stored in Component Library to be used in the channel routing progranl, CROUT. 4 subprogram, NET-PLOT, was used to report a schemdtic layout result, and another subprogram, NETCIF was used to with a full-fledged final layout representation in GIF, A test run for realizing a dynamicmaster-slave D flip-flop with set/reset using primitive cells was shown to take 4 CPU seconds on VAX 11/780.
This study was carried out to discuss the influences of the different fertilizer levels and plant densities on the flowering and balling in cotton in Mokpo Branch Station, Crop Experiment Station in 1991. The cotton flowered 67% before Aug. 25 which is the limit date of picked-cotton harvest, and the ratio of flowering for stalk-cut cotton was 30%. The 1.5 times fertilizer levels and the 70cm row density had more flower buds, flowers and bolls per m$^2$ than any other treatment plot. The crop growing was bad in dense planting due to the nutrient deficiency. The flowering ratio to flower bud was about 70%, and the balling ratio to flower numbers was about 48%. The bolling ratio was lower in the case of more flower number. The shedding ratio of flower buds was about 30% in average and showed increasing tendency by dense planting. It was observed that the higher ratio of bud shedding tended to accompany with shedding the lower ratio of boll shedding.
Sowing time of barley after cultivation of rice has frequently been delayed because of rainfall or some other reasons by rice cultivation. Partial tillage direct grain seeder with eight row, which had been developed for rice sowing and showed many advantages in wet field, were tested for barley sowing. After flooding during $2{\sim}3days$, plots were designed to make wet condition. Three sowing methods were tested; high ridged broadcasting, plat drill seeding and partial tillage direct grain seeding. It were impossible to sow properly even in 27% of soil water content by high ridged broadcasting, plat drill seeding but could be possible to sow normally by partial tillage direct grain seeder in 42% of soil water content as good as in 27% of soil water content. Initial growth condition after sowing in plots of partial tillage direct grain seeder were normal even in plots sown in more than 50% of soil water content. No. of spike, which was $508/m^2$, in plot of partial tillage direct grain seeder sowed at 30% soil water content was better than plat drill seeding, $404/m^2$. Yield and yield components of plot of partial tillage direct grain seeder, were higher than plot sowed by plat drill seeder in same soil water content. Partial tillage direct grain seeding can be a good sowing way for barley especially in wet condition. However, parts of seeder have to be improved for barley sowing; 1) ridged width of partial tillage direct grain seeder should be $10{\sim}20cm$ wider than 10 cm, which is necessary for drainage during barley growing season in wet paddy field. 2) sowing width of partial tillage direct grain seeder was not same with one of drill seeder which was the best width for light interception and should be shorter than 30cm.
Field studies were conducted in the southeastern Korea ($36^{\circ}$N) on a commerce silt loam soil at paddy field. Seed were manually planted on 16 July 2003. Plants were planted with plant densities of 70${\times}$10 cm (row width x plant spacing), 50 x 10 cm, and 30 ${\times}$10 cm. Two seedlings per hill were taken prior to V3 stage. Fertilizer was applied prior to plant at a rate of 30-30-34 kg (N-$\textrm{P}_2\textrm{O}_5$-$\textrm{K}_2\textrm{O}$) per ha. Experimental design was a randomized complete block in a split plot arrangement with three replications. Yield from different planting densities responded similarly in three soybean cultivars and increased when planting density increased. Somyeongkong showed the highest increasing rate of yield about 26% by 338 g $\textrm{m}^{-2}$ at 30 x l0 cm compared to yield of conventional planting density (70 x 10 cm). Also, the planting density significantly affected pod and seed number and seed weight, but not seed per pod. The tallest plant appeared at 30${\times}$10 cm. The change of leaf area according to days after emergence showed differently in soybean cultivars. The highest and lowest total dry matter production per square meter appeared at 30 x 10 cm and at 70 x 10 cm, respectively. Crop growth rate (CGR) showed greater at R3∼R4 stages compared with V7∼R2 or R2∼R3 growth stages and showed the greatest at 30 x 10 cm in three soybean cultivars. As late planted soybean, there was a significant relation between seed yield and CGR, and leaf area index (LAI) according to planting densities at before and after the flowering stage. Relationship between seed yield and CGR in three planting densities showed a highly significant positive relation ($\textrm{R}^2$=0.757) at R3 to R4 stages, and significant relations ($\textrm{R}^2$=0.505, 0.617) at V7 to R2 and V2 to V3. Also, there was a highly significant positive difference between seed yield and LAI during R3 to R4 and R2 to R3 stages.
These experiments were conducted to study the relationship among agronomic traits, varietal variation of grain-filling periods and the effect of environmental conditions on the grain-filling in the ten selected barley cultivars. The varietal variation of grain-filling periods was of significance: Tokak had the similar increment in both greenhouse and field plot, Suweon two row was believed to be an cultivar with short grainfilling period. Cultivars with higher grain-filling rates tended to. have significantly lower ash content. Ash content of a cultivar tended to be lower when grown under favorable condition. At maturity, the time of development of yellow or dark pigment at the crease base could be a possible criterion for physiological maturity determination. However, this requires further study. Average grain-filling period in the different conditions was constant, but varietal differences were 9 days in the greenhouse and 5 days in the field. The grain moisture content was not constant in accordance to both cultivars and growing conditions. Average accelerated days for heading and ripening periods were very constant in comparision with field and vinyl mulching suggests that the selected materials will be useful for genetic study on grain-filling periods. The cultivars and grown conditions with higher accumulated temperature per $100^{\circ}C$ from early grain-filling had larger grain-filling rates and heavier 1000 grain weight. This study showed that if the variation among and within cultivars is to be minimized, the greenhouse and vinyl mulching plots could be useful for genetic study on grain-filling periods in $BC_1$ and $F_2$ segregation.
A mutant for chalky endosperm and genetic male sterility (GMS) was newly developed in rice. The two characters were found to be controlled by single recessive gene which has pleiotropic effect, indicating that chalky seeds should be GMS seeds in segregating populations. Chalky seeds showed the same shape and size as normal seeds. However, starch composition of central part of endosperm was looser and shape of starch granules was rounder compared with normal endosperm, resulting in significantly lower grain weight, absolute density and grain hardness in chalky grains than in normal ones. Amylose content and gel consistency of chalky grains were much lower and harder, respectively. Male sterile plants showed much shorter plant height, poorer panicle exsertion and lesser panicle number compared with normal plants. Microspore abortion stage in pollen developmental process was observed as before meiosis. Male sterility of the mutant was stable regadless of temperature and day length. A system breeding hybrid rice using this mutant was discussed, comp ring with other systems utilizing cytoplasmic-genic male sterility(CGMS) and environment sensitive GMS(EGMS). Separation of GMS seeds in mixed seed bulks by specific gravity (1.14∼1.16g / cm3) was successful about 85∼90%. But some mixed normal plants were seemed to be easily removed by the apparent difference in growth characters at seedling stage. The highest natural outcrossing rate of this GMS line was as 17.3 % in a plot treated with 2-row pollinator, I-row GMS, and GA3 + cutting of flag leaf + pollen-scattering by rope.

Nowadays water shortage is becoming one of the biggest problems in the Korea. Many different methods are developed for conservation of water. Soil water management has become the most indispensable factor for augmenting the crop productivity especially on soybean (Glycine max L.) because of their high susceptibility to both water stress and water logging at various growth stages. The farmers have been using irrigation techniques through manual control which farmers irrigate lands at regular intervals. Automatic irrigation systems are convenient, especially for those who need to travel. If automatic irrigation systems are installed and programmed properly, they can even save you money and help in water conservation. Automatic irrigation systems can be programmed to provide automatic irrigation to the plants which helps in saving money and water and to discharge more precise amounts of water in a targeted area, which promotes water conservation. The objective of this study was to determine the possible effect of automatic irrigation systems based on soil moisture on soybean growth. This experiment was conducted on an upland field with sandy loam soils in Department of Southern Area Crop, NICS, RDA. The study had three different irrigation methods; sprinkle irrigation (SI), surface drip irrigation (SDI) and fountain irrigation (FI). SI was installed at spacing of $7{\times}7m$ and $1.8m^3/hr$ as square for per irrigation plot, a lateral pipe of SDI was laid down to 1.2 m row spacing with $2.3L\;h^{-1}$ discharge rate, the distance between laterals was 20 cm spacing between drippers and FI was laid down in 3m interval as square for per irrigation plot. Soybean (Daewon) cultivar was sown in the June $20^{th}$, 2016, planted in 2 rows of apart in 1.2 m wide rows and distance between hills was 20 cm. All agronomic practices were done as the recommended cultivation. This automatic irrigation system had valves to turn irrigation on/off easily by automated controller, solenoids and moisture sensor which were set the reference level as available soil moisture levels of 30% at 10cm depth. The efficiency of applied irrigation was obtained by dividing the total water stored in the effective root zone to the applied irrigation water. Results showed that seasonal applied irrigation water amounts were $60.4ton\;10a^{-1}$ (SI), $47.3ton\;10a^{-1}$ (SDI) and $92.6 ton\;10a^{-1}$ (FI), respectively. The most significant advantage of SDI system was that water was supplied near the root zone of plants drip by drip. This system saved a large quantity of water by 27.5% and 95.6% compared to SI, FI system. The average soybean yield was significantly affected by different irrigation methods. The soybean yield by different irrigation methods were $309.7kg\;10a^{-1}$ from SDI $282.2kg\;10a^{-1}$ from SI, $289.4kg\;10a^{-1}$ from FI, and $206.3kg\;10a^{-1}$ from control, respectively. SDI resulted in increase of soybean yield by 50.1%, 7.0% 9.8% compared to non-irrigation (control), FI and SI, respectively. Therefore, the automatic irrigation system supplied water only when the soil moisture in the soil went below the reference. Due to the direct transfer of water to the roots water conservation took place and also helped to maintain the moisture to soil ratio at the root zone constant. Thus the system is efficient and compatible to changing environment. The automatic irrigation system provides with several benefits and can operate with less manpower. In conclusion, improving automatic irrigation system can contribute greatly to reducing production costs of crops and making the industry more competitive and sustainable.
