Thermal emissivity of commercial nuclear graphites (IG-110, PCEA, IG-430 and NBG-18) following changes in oxidation degrees were examined. Specimens were oxidized to 0%, 5%, and 10% in air flow of 5l/min at $600^{\circ}C$ using a furnace, and the thermal emissivities were measured using an infrared spectrum analyzer. The measuring temperatures for the thermal emissivity were $100^{\circ}C$, $200^{\circ}C$, $300^{\circ}C$, $400^{\circ}C$$500^{\circ}C$. Also density and porosity of the specimens were observed to compare with thermal emissivity. Results showed that emissivity increased with oxidation, and the 10% oxidized NBG-18 showed the highest emissivity (0.890) which value is larger for 24% than the value of as-received specimen. Investigation of factors affecting the emissivity revealed that increases in the surface roughness and porosity due to oxidation were responsible for the increase in emissivity after oxidation.

OLED device is one of the most attractive and alternative display components, which stems primarily from the self-emission, large intrinsic viewing angle, and fast switching speed. However, because of its relatively short history of development, much remains to be studied in terms of its basic device physics, manufacturing processes, and reliability etc. Especially among several issues, it should be noted that the device characteristics are very sensitive to the surface properties of transparent conducting oxide (TCO) electrode materials. In this study, we have investigated the performance of OLED devices as a function of sheet resistance and surface roughness of TCO thin films. For this purpose, ITO and IZO thin films were deposited by r. f. magnetron sputtering under various ambient gases (Ar, Ar+O2 and Ar+H2, respectively). The crystal structure and surface morphology were examined by using XRD and FESEM. Also, electrical and optical properties were Investigated.

Enhancement of bond strength between new and old composite usually requires increasing the surface roughness to promote mechanical interlocking. This study evaluated the effect of different surface treatments on repair bond strength of resin composite after aging condition. Air abrasion with Al2O3, chairside silicacoating, and silanization provided higher resin-resin bond strength values compared to control group and HF group. Air abrasion is necessary to repair a resin restoration and additional application of silane seems to have good effects on bond strength.
A mathematical model for the analysis of roll gap phenomena in the strip temper rolling process is described. A new approach to solve the roll indentation and diverging problem in modeling of severe temper rolling cases is obtained by adopting the preliminary displacement principle of two contacted rough bodies to describe the friction behavior in the roll gap. The mechanical peculiarities of the temper rolling process, such as a high friction value with high roughness rolls and a non-circular contact arc, low reduction and non-negligible entry and exit elastic zones as well as central preliminary displacement zone etc., are all taken into account. The deformation of work rolls is calculated with the influence function method and an arbitrary contact are shape is permitted. The strip deformation is modeled by the slab method and the entry and exit elastic deformation zones are included. The preliminary displacement principle is used to determine the boundaries and to calculate the friction of the central preliminary displacement zone. The model is calibrated against the production mill data and installed in the setup computer of a temper rolling mill in POSCO. The validity and precision of the model have been proven through a comparison of the measured roll forces and the predicted ones.

An acoustic finite element model of a bridge is developed to evaluate the noise generated by the traffic-induced vibration of the bridge. The dynamic response of a multi-girder bridge, modeled by a 3-dimensional frame element model, is analyzed with a 3-axle(8DOF) truck model and a 5-axle(l3DOF) semi-trailer. The flat plate element is used to analyze the acoustic pressure due to the fluid-structure interactions between the vibrating surface and contiguous acoustic fluid medium. The radiation fields of noise with a specified distribution of vibrating velocity and pressure on the structural surface are also computed using the Kirchhoff-Helmholtz integral. In an attempt to illustrate the influence of the structural vibration noise of a bridge to total noise level around the bridge, the random function is used to generate the vehicle noise source including the engine noise and the rolling noise interacting between the road and tire. Among the diverse parameters affecting the dynamic response of bridge, the vehicle velocity, the vehicle weight, the spatial distribution of the road surface roughness, the stiffness degradation of the bridge and the variation of the air temperature changing the air density are found to be the main factors that increase the level of vibration noise. Consequently, The amplification rate of noise increases with the traveling speed and the vehicle weight.

Based on the wind engineering, for the first time, a effects of wind in the Poongsoojiri is developed. The fluctuating wind velocity is assumed as time-dependent random process described by the time-independent random process with deterministic function during a short duration of time. The wind properties are represented by separation, turbulence, eddies, wind profiles, turbulence intensity and surface roughness. In this papers, there were compared the effects of wind engineering with the concepts of Poongsoojiri.
In this paper, computer simulation of wind flow around a single cooling tower with louver support at the base in the KAZERUN power station in south part of IRAN is presented as a case study. ANSYS FLOTRAN, an unstructured finite element incompressible flow solver, is used for numerical investigation of wind induced pressure load on a single cooling tower. Since the effects of the wind ribs on external surface of the cooling tower shell which plays important role in formation of turbulent flow field, an innovative relation is introduced for modeling the effects of wind ribs on computation of wind pressure on cooling tower's shell. The introduced relation which follows the concept of equivalent sand roughness for the wall function is used in conjunction with two equations ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ turbulent model. In this work, the effects of variation in the height/spacing ratio of external wind ribs are numerically investigated. Conclusions are made by comparison between computed pressure loads on external surface of cooling tower and the VGB (German guideline for cooling tower design) suggestions.
Autoadhesion strength of PS/PS Interfaces in solvent welding was determined as a function of processing conditions by butt joint test. It was verified that the chain mobility and surface roughness at PS/PS interface were enhanced by the applied solvent having a similar solubility parameter as PS and resulted in the dramatic improvement of autoadhesion strength at PS/PS interface. It was found that the mechanism of solvent welding is dependent upon the chain mobility due to the diffusion of solvent to PS interface and the contact area at interface. When the welding temperature is lower than the boiling point of applied solvent, the effect of chain mobility on autoadhesion strength was dominated, while contact area took more important role when welding temperature is above the boiling point of solvent. Autoadhesion strength increased with increasing contact time and contact temperature but :he effect of solvent on autoadhesion strength became smaller.

LiNbO$_3$films were prepared by an rf-magnetron sputtering technique using sintered target containing potassium. The potassium was included to help to fabricate stoichiometric LiNbO$_3$film. Structural and electrical properties of thin films was investigated as a function of deposition condition. Optimum sputtering conditions were rf power of 100W, working pressure of 1m Torr and substrate temperature of 58$0^{\circ}C$. The thin film was grown to (012) preferred orientation. The dielectric constant of the thin film LiNbo$_3$ fabricated under optimum condition was 55 at 1MHz. Average grain size is about 200$\AA$ and roughness of the film is small enough to apply to optic devices.
A hemoglobin/silver nanoparticle heterolayer was fabricated for bioelectronic device with electrochemical signal-enhancement effect. As a device element, a hemoglobin, the metalloprotein, contained the heme group that showed the redox property was introduced for charge storage element. For electron transfer facilitation, a silver nanoparticle was introduced for electrochemical signal facilitation, the hemoglobin was immobilized onto Au substrate using chemical linker 6-mercaptohexanoic acid (6-MHA). Then, the silver nanoparticle was immobilized onto fabricated hemoglobin/6-MHA heterolayers by layer-by-layer (LbL) method. The surface morphology and surface roughness of fabricated heterolayer were investigated by atomic force microscopy (AFM). The redox property of hemoglobin/silver nanoparticle heterolayer was investigated by a cyclic voltammetry (CV) experiment for obtaining an oxidation potential and reduction potential. Moreover, for the assessing charge storage function, a chronoamperometry (CA) experiment was conducted to hemoglobin/silver nanoparticle-modified heterolayer electrode using oxidation and reduction potentials, respectively. Based on the results, the fabricated hemoglobin/silver nanoparticle heterolayer showed that an increased charge storage effect compared to hemoglobin monolayer-modified electrode.
