  • The stiffness and natural frequencies for blades, flexbeam, and torque tube of bearingless rotor system are measured to determine the material input properties such as mass distributions and stiffness distribution for the rotor dynamics and load analysis. The flap stiffness, lag stiffness, and torsional stiffness are calculated by measuring section strain or twist angle, gages position, and applied loads through bending and twist tests. The modal tests are undertaken to find out the natural frequencies for flap, lag, torsion modes in non-rotating conditions. The stiffness values and mass properties are tuned and updated to match prediction frequencies to the measured frequencies. The rotorcraft comprehensive code(CAMRAD II) is used to analyze the natural frequencies of the specimens. The analysis results with the updated material properties agree well with the measured frequencies. The updated properties will be used to analyze the rotor stability, dynamic characteristics and loads for the rotor rotation test in a whirl tower.

  • This paper describes the aeroelastic stability test of the small-scaled 'Next-Generation Blade(NRSB)' with NRSH (Next-Generation Hub System) and HCTH hingeless hub system in hover and forward flight conditions. Excitation tests of rotor system installed in GSRTS(General Small-scale Rotor Test System) at KARI(Korea Aerospace Research Institute) were tarried out to get lead-lag damping ratio of blades with flexures as hub flexure. MBA(Moving Block Analysis) technique was used for the estimation of lead-lag damping ratio. First, NRSB-1F blades with HCTH hub system, Then NRSB-1F with NRSH hub system were tested. Second, NRSB-2F blades with NRSH hub system were tested. Tests were done on the ground and in the wind tunnel according to the test conditions of hover and forward flight, respectively. Non-rotating natural frequencies, non-rotating damping ratios and rotating natural frequencies were showed similar level fir each cases. Estimated damping ratios of NRSB-1F, NRSB-2F with HCTH and NRSH were above 0.5%, and damping ratio increased by collective pitch angle increasement. Furthermore damping ratios of NRSB-2F were higher than damping ratios of NRSB-1F in high pitch angle. It was confirmed that the blade design for noise reduction would give observable improvement in aeroelastic stability compared to paddle blade and NRSB-1F design.

  • In this paper, a new approach that is based on EEAC & only with network solutions for CS&S in the transient stability assessment is developed. The proposed CS&S algorithm in conjunction with EEAC to include the capability of performing on-line TSA without TDS is used to calculate the critical clearing time for stability index. In this algorithm, all generators are represented by classical models and all loads are represented by constant impedance load models. The accelerating & synchronizing power coefficient as an index is determined at its disturbance through solving network equation directly. As mentioned above, a new index for generator is generally used to determine the critical generators group. The generator rotor angle is fixed for non-critical generators group, but has equal angle increments for critical generators group. Finally, the critical clearing time is calculated from the power-angle relationship of equivalent OMIB system. The proposed CS&S algorithm currently being implemented is applied to the KEPCO system. The CS&S result was remarkably similar to TSAT program and SIME. Therefore, it was found to be suitable for a fast & highly efficient CS&S algorithm in TSA. The time of CS&S for the 139 contingencies using proposed CS&S algorithm takes less than 3 seconds on Pentium 4, 3GHz Desktop.

  • When assailing some area, it is important to consider targeting power system. This paper describes effective method that power networks are incapacitated based on assessing TSI and VDI. For this, we compose realistic scenario and analyze the simulation results in a view of stability. The simulation results show the destruction effects when occur the contingency in the specified area. To perform this process, the simulation tool PSS/E and DSAT are used.

  • MDO Optimization for a low pressure axial compressor rotor has been carried out to improve aerodynamic performance and structural stability. Global optimized solution was obtained from an artificial neural network model with genetic algorithm. Optimized rotor model has a high blade loading near hub and near zero incidence flow angle near tip region to reduce the incidence loss and flow separation at trailing edge region. Also the rotor shape is converged to a trapezoid shape to reduce the maximum stress occurred at the root of the blade. Numerical simulation results show that rotor has 87.6% rotor efficiency and safety factor over than 3.

  • In this paper, as a part of the method improving stability, the load-flow calculation in D.C. power system and the models for stability analysis are studied with A.C-D.C. interconnected power systems transmission performed. Moreover, the theory is established in relation to each control method of D.C. power systems. Then the stability of A.C-D.C.interconnected power systems is compared and considered by the way of dividing the operating control method of the rectifier inverter converter into ACR-AVR, APR-A.gamma.R, A.alpha.R-ACR. The dynamics characteristic of terminal voltage, frequency, active-reactive power and rotor angle of the generator with disturbances and load fluctuations is considered. In addition, the characteristic of direct voltage, direct current, power and control systems. From this the comparative analysis of the direct current control method, the possibility of the stability analysis of A.C.-D.C. interconnected power system is considered. • Generator for wind power can be either synchronous or asynchronous (induction) types. Induction and synchronous generators behave in a different way when subjected to severe faults. Induction generators does not have an angle stability limit and short circuit in the neighborhood of an Induction generator causes the demagnetization of the machine when the fault is cleared, the voltage raises slowly, while the grid contributes with reactive power to the generator and the magnetic flux recovers. On the other hand in the synchronous generators the recovery of the voltage is immediate, since the excitation of the rotor angle comes from an independent circuit. This paper shows the result of the transient state analysis in the network connected to wind generation system Several case studies have been conducted to determine the effect of the clearing time of a fault on the network stability. It has been found that the critical clearing time can be as low as 61ms in the case of induction generator compared to 370ms in the case of synchronous generator.

  • Since the stator winding of High-Speed Permanent Magnet Generator (HSPMG) has few winding turns and low inductance value, it is more prone to be influenced by harmonic current. Moreover, the operation efficiency and the torque stability of HSPMG will be greatly influenced by harmonic current. Taking a 117 kW, 60 000 rpm HSPMG as an example, in order to analyze the effects of harmonic current on HSPMG in this paper, the 2-D finite element electromagnetic field model of the generator was established and the correctness of the model was verified by testing the generator prototype. Based on the model, the losses and torque of the generator under different frequency harmonic current were studied. The change rules of the losses and torque were found out. Based on the analysis of the influence of the harmonic phase angle on torque ripple, it is found that the torque ripple could be weakened through changing the harmonic phase angle. Through the analysis of eddy current density in rotor, the change mechanism of the rotor eddy current loss was revealed. These conclusions can contribute to reduce harmonic loss, prevent demagnetization fault and optimize torque ripple of HSPMG used in distributed power supply system.

  • Unlike general unmanned aerial vehicles, the quad-rotor is attracting the attention of many people because of simple structure and very useful value. However, as the interest in drones increases, the safety and location of vehicles are becoming more important provide against aviation safety accidents or lost accidents. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a tracking system that stabilizes the model with a simple controller by linearized modeling and grasp tilt angle data from various sensor through the filter. The developed tracking system transmits the position of the quad-rotor in flight to the computer and shows it through the route, so it can check the flight path and various information such as flight speed and altitude at the same time. Then the sensor used in the actual quad-rotor can not measure exact sensor data for disturbance and vibration. So we use sensor fusion of Kalman filter and Complementary filter to overcome this problem and the stability of the quad-rotor hovering is realized by PID control. Through simulation, various information such as the speed, position, and altitude of the quad-rotor were confirmed in real time.
