This paper presents finite element analysis algorithm combined with vector hysteresis model for accurate analysis of the hysteresis motor. Magnetization-dependent vector model is adapted to calculate the vector magnetization. That is to say, from the magnitude and direction of the magnetic field intensity, the magnetization of each ring element is computed by the vector model. By comparing the simulation results with the experimental ones, it is found that good results are obtained.
Elliptical bearings are widely used for large steam turbines owing to their excellent load carrying capacity and good dynamic stability. Power loss in bearings is an extremely important parameter, especially for high turbine capacities. Optimization of operation conditions and design variables such as bearing clearance and bearing length can reduce the power loss in elliptical bearings. Although changes in the oil supply method have served to increase the efficiency of the tilting pad journal bearing, it has not explicitly improved elliptical bearings. In this study, we verify the static characteristics of an elliptical bearing by changing the direction of oil supply. We evaluate the bearing power loss and bearing metal temperature, and compare the bearing performance and reliability in different test cases. The direction of oil supply is $90^{\circ}$ (9 o'clock) and $270^{\circ}$ (3 o'clock) when the rotor rotates in a counterclockwise direction. We use an elliptical bearing with an inner diameter and active length of 220.30 and 110.00 mm, respectively. Bearing power loss and bearing metal temperatures are measured and evaluated by rotor rotational speed, oil flow rate, and bearing load. The results reveal a 20 reduction in the power loss when the direction of oil supply is 90. Furthermore, the oil film on the upper part of the bearing has a high temperature when the direction of oil supply is $90^{\circ}$. In contrast, when the direction of oil supply is $270^{\circ}$, the oil film on the upper part of the bearing is relatively cold.

Dynamic response behaviors of a bridge are examined under seismic excitations in the 2-dimensional directions are examined. A three-dimensional mechanical model is utilized and the corresponding equations of motions are derived to consider the two directional bridge motions due to the randomness residing in the excitation directions. The arbitrary 2-dimensional directions are simulated by applying two independent excitations in the two directions: main direction(longitudinal) ; the additive direction normal to the main (transverse). The rotational superstructure motions due to the spacial motions of the bridge are considered by admitting the deformation of the bearings at supports. The relative displacement to the ground motions and the relative distance between adjacent oscillators are found to be increased by a considerable amount in the case when considering arbitrary directional seismic excitations. It is also found that the piermotions show more complicated behaviors due to the arbitrary seismic directions.
In order to increase the critical speed of rotating disks of which functional material could not be changed such as in optical and magnetic data storage disks, a new disk with a rim reinforced by composite material is proposed and its concept is verified by numerical analysis. Stress distributions are found for the rotating disk composed of two annular disks of which materials are isotropic inside and orthotropic outside. Dynamic equation is formulated in order to calculate the natural frequency and critical speed. For the solution of lateral vibration, a rotational symmertry condition is applied along circumferential direction and a finite element interpolation with Hermite polynomial is performed along the radial direction to obtain a proper solution. According to the results, reinforcing a disk at rim makes critical speeds drastically increased, and induces a buckling phenomenon in mode (0,0) which occurs over the lowest critical speed.
This paper presents a local obstacle avoidance method for indoor mobile robots using Lane method and velocity Space Command approach. The method locates local obstacles using the information form multi-sensors, such that ultrasonic sensor array and laser scanning sensor. The method uses lane method to determine optimum collision-free heading direction of a robot. Also, it deals with the robot motion dynamics problem to reduce some vibration and guarantee fast movement as well. It yields translational and rotational velocities required to avoid the detected obstacles and to keep the robot heading direction toward goal location as close as possible. For experimental verification of the method, a mobile robot driven by two AC servo motors, equipped with 24 ultrasonic sensor array and laser scanning sensor navigates using the method through a corridor cluttered with obstacle.
Laser scanner are getting used for inspection and reverse engineering in industry such as motors, electronic products, dies and molds. However, due to the lack of efficient scanning technique, the tasks become limited to the low accuracy purpose. The main reasons for this limitation for usefulness are caused from the optical drawback, such as irregular reflection, scanning direction normal to measuring surface, the influence of surface integrity, and other optical disturbances. To overcome these drawback of laser scanner, this study propose the mechanism to reduce the optical trouble by using the 2 kinds of rotational movement axis and by composing the spherical coordinate to scanning the surface keeping normal direction consistently. So, it could be designed and interfaced the measuring device to realize that mechanism, and then it could acquisite the accurate 3D form cloud data. Also, these data are compared with the standard master ball and the data acquisited from the touch point sensor, to evaluate the accuracy and stability of measurement and to demonstrate the implementation of an dental tooth purpose system

A reversible axial flow fan called jet fan has been widely used for longitudinal ventilation in road tunnels to secure a safe and comfortable environment cost-effectively. As shifting the flow direction is usually made by only switching the rotational direction of an electric motor due to heavy duty, rotor blades having identical aerodynamic performance for bidirectional flow should be necessary. However, such aerodynamically desirable blades haven't been developed sufficiently, since most of the related studies have been done from the viewpoint of unidirectional flow. In the present paper, we demonstrate a method to profile the blade section suitable for bidirectional flow, which is validated by studying the aerodynamic performances of rotor blades of a two-stage jet fan experimentally and numerically.
The gun-type gas burner adopted in this study is generally composed of eight slits and swirl vanes. Thus, this paper is studied to investigate the effect of slits and swirl vanes on the turbulent flow fields in the horizontal plane of gas swirl burner with a cone type baffle plate measured by using X-probe from hot-wire anemometer system. This experiment is carried out at flow rate 450 $\ell$/min in the test section of subsonic wind tunnel. The axial mean velocity component in the case of burner model with only swirl vanes shows the characteristic that spreads more remarkably toward the radial direction than axial one, it does, however, directly opposite tendency in the case of burner model with only slits. Consequently. both slits and swirl vanes composing of gun-type gas burner play an important role in decrease of the speed near slits and increase of the flow speed in the central part of a burner because the biggest speed spurted from slits encircles rotational flow by swirl vanes and it drives main flow toward the axial direction. Moreover, the turbulent intensities and turbulent kinetic energy of gun-type gas burner are distributed with a fairly bigger size within X/R<0.6410 than burner models which have only slits or swirl vanes because the rotational flow by swirl vanes and the fast jet flow by slits increase flow mixing, diffusion, and mean velocity gradient effectively.
Quasiclassical trajectory (QCT) method has been used to investigate stereodynamics information of the reaction $O(^1D)+H_2{\rightarrow}\;OH$+H on the DK (Dobbyn and Knowles) potential energy surface (PES) at a collision energy of 23.06 kcal/mol, with the initial quantum state of reactant $H_2$ being set for v = 0 (vibration quantum number) and j = 0-5 (rotation quantum number). The PDDCSs (polarization dependent differential cross sections) and the distributions of P($\theta_r$), P($\phi_r$), P($\theta_r$, $\phi_r$) have been presented in this work. The results demonstrate that the products are both forward and backward scattered. As j increases, the backward scattering becomes weaker while the forward scattering becomes slightly stronger. The distribution of P($\theta_r$) indicates that the product rotational angular momentum j' tends to align along the direction perpendicular to the reagent relative velocity vector k, but this kind of product alignment is found to be rather insensitive to j. Furthermore, the distribution of P($\phi_r$) indicates that the rotational angular momentum vector of the OH product is preferentially oriented along the positive direction of y-axis, and such product orientation becomes stronger with increasing j.
