Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of three rotational jump conditions (standing jump, left rotational jump and right rotational jump) on stability through center of pressure (COP) and EMG variables analysis. Method: A total of 16 college students (age: 24.13 ± 7.17 years, height: 169.24 ± 8.23 cm, weight: 65.65 ± 13.88 kg) participated in this study. The study used wireless two COP plates and wireless eight channel EMG. The analyized variables were 11 variables for COP and RMS for EMG, which were analyzed using one-way analysis of variance with repeated measures according to three rotational jump conditions. Results: Among the COP variables, left rotational jump (LRJ) and right rotational jump (RRJ) were larger than standing jump (SJ) for left and right amplitude, area, total displacement, and average velocity for both feet among the variables of COP, and for area of the left foot, RRJ was larger than that of SJ. Among the EMG variables, there was no statistical difference between the muscle activations, but the muscle activity was significantly higher in the order of RRJ, LRJ, and SJ according to direction of rotation. Conclusion: Although the results of COP and EMG were not consistent through this study, it can be expected that the differences in COP was due to the amount of rotation during rotational jump-landing in the left and right directions, and that the EMG is determined by the lateral movements required for rotation.
Remote Cask Grappling and Lid Unbolting Device (RCGLUD) is developed as a dedicated device capable of performing complete procedure of handling nuclear spent fuel transport cask. Since RCGLUD is suspended to an overhead crane, its body should undergo prolonged vibration upon actuation in rotational direction and it becomes difficult to achieve precise grappling of the cask. Therefore, this paper presents an adaptation of input shaping technique to effectively suppress the rotational vibration of RCGLUD and achieve precise positioning in rotational direction. This technique has a practical merit in that it requires only the information on the system natural frequency and the damping ratio. Its performance is verified by both simulation and experimental studies, and revealed that the method is also insensitive to modeling error.
To determine the optimal rotational shift system, the effect of the direction of the rotational work shifting on the nocturnal rhythm of plasma melatonin were investigated in nursing students. Two groups of nine volunteers participated as experimental subjects, and two nursing students participated as a control group. The directions of the rotational work shift were as follows: CW(clockwise)-shift were rotated in the direction of day shift(3 days), evening shift(3 days), off duty(1 day) and night shift(5 days), and CCW(conuterclockwise)-shift were done in the reverse direction. Plasma melatonin concentrations was measured by radioimmunoassay. The results were as follows : The plasma melatonin levels were kept low at night and in the following morning in the CW night shift workers, whereas the level started to increase at 05 : 00 hr in two workers of four CCW shift workers. These result suggests that the shift rotation in the CW direction is more acceptable in terms of the adaptation of hormonal rhythms. These results indicate that the CCW rotation of shift work is somewhat better than CCW rotation for the adaptation to shift work on hormonal aspects in nurses.

Compared to the simple-beam springs, double-folded springs have advantages of the linearity even at the long stroke, so that they have been widely used for optical components such as optical switches and optical attenuators. Until now only the stiffness of the double-folded springs dn the perpendicular direction of the shuttle movement has been considered for the stable operation, however, the rotational stiffness of the splings has not been researched as much. Therefore, this paper suggests the double-folded springs of the maximum rotational stiffness with the constant stiffness in the stroke direction using the reliability based topology optimization (RBTO), whose operation properties were experimentally characterized.
A Direction Cosine Matrix (DCM) of each satellites sensor/actuator which contains an directional information of sensor/actuator is implemented in the on-board flight software. In order to verify the polarity of direction cosine matrix, it is mostly used that an actual sensor/actuator output is compared with the expected output value which responses to the pre-defined external stimulus to the sensor/actuator. For the gyro sensors, the Earth rotational rate can be used as an external input for the polarity verification of DCM, without using an artificial stimulus. In this study, the polarity of gyro DCM is checked and verified using the several test data which have been acquired during the different system level test phases. Finally the polarity of DCM was successfully verified using the Earth rotational rate.
In this paper, we propose the non-contact method to measure rotational speed vector using spatial filtering method. The rotational speed $\omega$ is known by the frequency of output sinusoidal signal direct proportional to that and the rotational direction is given by the phase delay from the weighting function design of spatial filter.
Purpose: The present study was aimed to investigate the effect of tear volume on a change of axial rotation according to wearing time of toric soft contact lens and gaze directions. Method: Toric soft contact lenses with double thin zone design applied on 62 eyes. Then, changes in non invasive tear film break-up time and the rotational direction/amount of lens when changing gaze direction were respectively measured after 15 minutes and 6 hours of lens wear. Results: Lens rotation to temporal direction was more found when changing gaze direction after lens wear. However, its rotation was varied according to wearing time and the subjects' tear volume. Furthermore, the frequency of lens rotation to temporal direction was higher in dry eyes compared with normal eyes at nearly all gaze directions after 15 minutes and 6 hour of lens wear. The rotational amount of lens was generally greater in dry eyes after 15 minutes of lens wear. However, its difference between normal eyes and dry eyes was not great after 6 hours of lens wear. Conclusion: The present study revealed that axial rotation of toric soft contact lens was varied according to the wearer's tear volume and lens rotational patterns at the initial, and extending periods of lens wear were different. The change in rotational pattern of toric soft contact lens from these results means the possibility of visual change after extending lens wear, and the identification of its correlation with tear volume suggests the necessity of considering factors for choosing appropriate toric soft contact lens.
We present the precise visual measurement method of rotational displacements using two different moire fringes simultaneously generated by repeated sinusoidal gratings. We investigate the variation of moire fringes depending on rotational displacements through computer simulation and experiment using a rotator in detail. The moire fringes are composed of the wide linear fringe part with a long period and the narrow linear fringe part with a short period. These parts are superior to the angle detection of more than 12 degrees and less than 12 degree, respectively. Additionally, the method can be visually used in the determination of the rotational direction by observing the moire fringe's direction.
Purpose: The present study was aimed to investigate the effect of corneal eccentricity on the axial rotation when wearing toric soft contact lenses were worn for certain time and changing the gaze directions. Methods: Toric soft contact lenses with double thin zone design applied on 85 of with-the-rule astigmatic eyes. Then, rotational direction and amount of contact lenses were measured after 15 minutes and 6 hours of lens wear. The difference was further compared and analyzed according to corneal eccentricity. Results: The rotation of toric lens showed a tendency to rotate to temporal direction in all gaze directions except temporal-upper direction in all groups of corneal eccentricity. The amount of lens rotation in the frontal gaze direction exhibited a negative correlation since the amount was decreased with increasing corneal eccentricity after both 15 minutes and 6 hours of lens wearing. In many cases, the cornea with small eccentricity also showed the lens rotation larger than $10^{\circ}$. The difference in rotational amount after 15 minutes of toric lens wear was small according to the corneal eccentricity however, the change of rotational amount of contact lens according to corneal eccentricity was shown after 6 hours of lens wear. Conclusions: The present study revealed that the amount of axial rotation was largely varied according to the wearer's corneal eccentricity when wearing toric lens and the rotational amount after certain time of lens was also affected by corneal eccentricity. Thus, it is suggested that the selection of toric soft contact lenses based on corneal eccentricity is necessary.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of rotational preference on body stability based on COP and EMG analysis in an quiet standing after turn in the left and right directions. The subjects of this study were 16 subjects with a high lateral preference for the right hand and foot. The subjects of this study were 16 subjects with high unilateral preference for the right hand and foot, and three rotational direction conditions (QS: quiet standing, LT: 10 turns on the left, RT: 10 turns on the right) were performed. In order to evaluate the stability in an quiet standing after turning, the results were derived and analyzed using a COP plate and an EMG. As a result of the study, LT and RT were larger than QS for all COP variables, but there was no difference according to the direction of turning. In EMG, RT showed larger muscle activity than the QS according to the rotational direction in left and right gastrocnemius. In conclusion, although all subjects had a high right lateral preference, there was no effect of rotational preference in COP, and gastrocnemius showed the effect of rotational preference.
