A number of automotive electronics-safety, driver assistance, and infotainment devices-have been deployed in recent vehicles. This raises new challenges regarding in-vehicular network arbitration. A performance analysis of non-destructive arbitration has revealed a fairness issue. The arbitration prioritizes without collisions, despite multiple simultaneous transmissions; however, the performances of the highest priority node and the lowest priority node are very different. In this paper, an ID-rotation arbitration method to solve the arbitration-fairness problem is proposed. The proposed algorithm was applied to several engine control units (ECUs), including a controller area network (CAN) controller. Experimental results showed that the algorithm improved the fairness as well as the total throughput within a specific performance constraint.
The floating ring seal is used in an oxidizer and a fuel pump of the turbo pump unit in the liquid rocket engine to optimize a leakage without rubbing phenomenon. The damper floating ring seal, one of the floating ring seals, is with round hole pattern surfaces. It can reduce the leakage by increased friction factor that obtained from experimental data. In this paper, the leakage test about floating ring seal and damper floating ring seal was conducted. The test result showed the leakage performance of damper floating ring seal was better than the leakage performance of floating ring seal. With the leakage test the lock-up and rotation test about seal was conducted and that position is measured. The relatively large lock-up eccentric ratio was obtained from the test result of damping floating ring seal. The attitude angle of seal increases with increasing of shaft rotation.

This paper is described a development of an optical fiber displacement sensor. The optical fiber sensor using an intensity modulated measures the displacement between target and sensor. A prototype sensor is composed of a transmitting part, a receiving part and a signal processing circuit. The experiment was conducted not only the sensor performance but also factors that affect intensity. The main performance of this sensor is resolution of 0.37um and the non-linearity $0.7\%$ FS and the dynamic bandwidth of about 6.3kHz. As a result of rotation test, the prototype sensor showed an equivalent performance to a commercial eddy current sensor.

In recent years, work to improve the power of a tractor has been in development. This study, using the mid-PTO power of a compact tractor, attempted to develop a high-speed mid-mower by setting the rotation to more than 3,000 RPM designed/manufactured major components of the high speed mid-mower. The performance of high-speed mid-mower was evaluated by the precision of straight bevel gears, and durability, the noise of the gearbox, the gearbox internal temperature, the maximum rotation speed of the mid-mowers, and the grass cutting test. Through the performance test results, the maximum number of revolutions of the mid-mower was measured over 3,000RPM, the gearbox noise and gearbox internal temperature satisfied the performance requirements of a high speed mid-mower.

This paper presents a extended stochastic Petri net (ESPN) model for CTN(Circulated Token with No duration) service in the data link layer of IEC/ISA fieldbus. It is assumed that a station on the fieldbus has a specified minimum token holding time, a finite capacity buffer, and one transmitter queue with the highest priority. The mean transmission (or service) time at a station and the mean token rotation time for the symmetric fieldbus system atr derived using the presented SPN model and the moment generating function. These performance measures are represented in terms of the minimum token holding time, the number of stations, the arrival rate of messages, and the mean length of messages. The presented performance measure are validated by computer simulations.

In the ground environment, mobile robot research uses sensors such as GPS and optical cameras to localize surrounding landmarks and to estimate the position of the robot. However, an underwater environment restricts the use of sensors such as optical cameras and GPS. Also, unlike the ground environment, it is difficult to make a continuous observation of landmarks for location estimation. So, in underwater research, artificial markers are installed to generate a strong and lasting landmark. When artificial markers are acquired with an underwater sonar sensor, different types of noise are caused in the underwater sonar image. This noise is one of the factors that reduces object detection performance. This paper aims to improve object detection performance through distortion and rotation augmentation of training data. Object detection is detected using a Faster R-CNN.

This paper focuses on the seismic performance of pallet-type steel storage rack structures in their down aisle direction. As evidenced by experimental research, the seismic response of storage racks in the down-aisle direction is strongly affected by the nonlinear moment-rotation response of the beam-to-column connections. In their down-aisle direction, rack structures are designed to resist lateral seismic loads with typical moment frames utilizing proprietary beam-to-column moment-resisting connections. These connections are mostly boltless hooked type connections and they exhibit significantly large rotations resulting in large lateral frame displacements when subjected to strong ground motions. In this paper, typical hooked boltless beam-to-column connections are studied experimentally to obtain their non-linear reversed cyclic moment-rotation response. Additionally, a compound type connection involving the standard hooks and additional bolts were also tested under similar conditions. The simple introduction of the additional bolts within the hooked connection is considered to be a practical way of structural upgrade in the connection. The experimentally evaluated characteristics of the connections are compared in terms of some important performance indicators such as maximum moment and rotation capacity, change in stiffness and accumulated energy levels within the cyclic loading protocol. Finally, the obtained characteristics were used to carry out seismic performance assessment of rack frames incorporating the tested beam-to-column connections. The assessment involves a displacement based approach that utilizes a simple analytical model that captures the seismic behavior of racks in their down-aisle direction. The results of the study indicate that the proposed method of upgrading appears to be a very practical and effective way of increasing the seismic performance of hooked connections and hence the rack frames in their down-aisle direction.

PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to identify the effects of joint mobilization intervention combined with exercise on range of motion (ROM), pain intensity, and functional performance in adolescent baseball players with internal impingement syndrome of the shoulder. METHODS: The subjects were 30 adolescent baseball players diagnosed with internal impingement. Ten subjects were randomly assigned to each of 3 groups: Group 1 (exercise only), Group 2 (joint mobilization combined with exercise), and Group 3 (rest-only control group). Three weekly interventions were given for 4 weeks (the control group rested for 4 weeks). The main outcome measures were goniometer, visual analogue scale (VAS), and Korean Kerlan Jobe shoulder-elbow (K-KJOC) scores. The ROM (external and internal rotation), pain intensity (at the moment of throwing), and functional performance were compared among the groups. RESULTS: No significant difference was observed among the groups in the range of external rotation of the shoulder before and after the intervention, but the range of internal rotation was significantly increased in Group 2 compared to Groups 1 and 3. Pain intensity was significantly lower in Group 2 than in Group 1 and 3, and functional performance was significantly increased in Group 2 compared to Group 1 and 3. CONCLUSION: An intervention that combined joint mobilization with exercise was more effective than resting or exercise alone for rapid recovery from sports injury and improvement in athletic performance.
Purpose: This study was conducted in order to compare the ability to control postural sway during perturbation when stroke patients received postural sway induced by head rotation. Methods: This study included 15 stroke patients and 15 healthy adults. Each group was measured by 3D motion analysis for determination of the angle of the neck in static position and by balance performance monitor for estimation of swaying angle in both neutral posture and head rotation position. These results were then analyzed in order to compare the healthy control group and the stroke patients group. Results: In both static posture ($60.7{\pm}4.81$) and dynamic posture ($51.46{\pm}6.87$, $70.8{\pm}6.55$), significant decreases were observed in the angle of head rotation of the patient group, compared to the healthy group (p<0.05), and significant decreases were observed in the sway angle of the patient group when in the neutral position ($3.62{\pm}7$, $24{\pm}0.60$) and head rotation ($3.04{\pm}0.80$, $51.46{\pm}6.87$), compared to the healthy group (p<0.05). Conclusion: According to these findings, patients with stroke tend to restrict the ROM of head rotation and swaying angle in dynamic posture and maintain their posture instability using limitation of head movement relative to the trunk and sway angle of area which is larger than that of affected side in unaffected side.
