To investigate the influence of the variation of conic coefficient of the front surface on the RMS SD(Root Mean Square Spot Diameter) in a back focal plane, we use programs which are Cove V and LOSA 2.0. We consider a spectacle lens with back vertex power of -4.00D, diameter of 70 mm, the front surface powers which are 2.00D, 4.00D, 6.00D, and 8.00D, and the indices which are $n_d$=1.498, 1.523, 1.586, and 1.660, respectively. The RMS SD in the back focal plane and the thickness of an aspherical tens having the optimized conic constant are smaller than those of a spherical lens. The RMS SD in the back focal plane decreases as the front surface power decreases. From these results, we determine the optimized conic constant to improve the optical image quality and decrease RMS SD in the back focal plane.
The objective of this research was to compare the precision of scanning the digital abutment impression and gypsum model according to 3-dimensional superimposing different skills. There were made with the abutment impression and gypsum model of a maxillary 1st premolar, blue light scanner scanned to obtain the stereolithography (STL) file. After the same process was performed 10 more times without moving them on the scanner table about the abutment impression and gypsum model, respectively (n=11, per types). By superimposing the date of scanning the abutment impression and gypsum model used with no control and best-fit-alignment skills, 10 color-difference maps and root mean square (RMS) data were obtained. The independent t-test was performed to compare RMS data between the each other groups (${\alpha}=0.05$). In the scanning abutment impressions, $RMS{\pm}SD$ of no control, best-fit-alignment showed $6.86{\pm}0.94$, $5.04{\pm}0.24$. in the scanning gypsum model, $4.98{\pm}1.16$, $3.39{\pm}0.07$, all groups showed a significant difference (P<0.001). Trough the this study's result, not only best-fit-alignment but no control is used with digital dental computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) research and clinical part.
Objectives: The present study aimed to compare the accuracy of removable partial denture (RPD) frameworks fabricated by selective laser sintering (SLS) before and after electropolishing. Methods: A partially edentulous mandibular model was used as the working model. Scanning of the model was performed using a dental scanner. The framework was designed using CAD software. The metal framework was formed using an SLS 3D printer. 3D scans of the two fabricated prototypes produced before and after electropolishing were overlapped with reference data. The fit was calculated based on Root Mean Square (RMS). Fabrication accuracy was verified using the paired t-test to compare the discrepancy before and after electropolishing. Results: The mean (SD) values of RMS before and after electropolishing were 126.6 (34.19) and 75.86 (21.36), respectively. There was a statistically significant difference before and after electropolishing (p<0.05). Conclusions: Metal frameworks made with SLS 3D printers showed clinically acceptable fit after electropolishing.

There are growing concerns that the recently implemented Earthquake Early Warning service is overestimating the rapidly provided earthquake magnitudes (M). As a result, the predicted damages unnecessarily activate earthquake protection systems for critical facilities and lifeline infrastructures that are far away. This study is conducted to improve the estimation accuracy of M by incorporating the observed S-wave seismograms in the near source region after removing the site effects of the seismograms in real time by filtering in the time domain. The ensemble of horizontal S-wave spectra from at least five seismograms without site effects is calculated and normalized to a hypocentric target distance (21.54 km) by using the distance attenuation model of Q(f)=348f0.52 and a cross-over distance of 50 km. The natural logarithmic mean of the S-wave ensemble spectra is then fitted to Brune's source spectrum to obtain the best estimates for M and stress drop (SD) with the fitting weight of 1/standard deviation. The proposed methodology was tested on the 18 recent inland earthquakes in South Korea, and the condition of at least five records for the near-source region is sufficiently fulfilled at an epicentral distance of 30 km. The natural logarithmic standard deviation of the observed S-wave spectra of the ensemble was calculated to be 0.53 using records near the source for 1~10 Hz, compared to 0.42 using whole records. The result shows that the root-mean-square error of M and ln(SD) is approximately 0.17 and 0.6, respectively. This accuracy can provide a confidence interval of 0.4~2.3 of Peak Ground Acceleration values in the distant range.

Objective: To treat psychogenic headache patients, doctors have to amplify on the headache caused by emotional stress to patients, and assist the patients to cope with difficulties. So, we investigated HRV of the headache patients caused by Chiljungsang and would like to apply to the clinical treatment. Method: Our study measured time and frequency domain HRV indicies(5-min resting study) of 123 headache patients caused by emotional stress. Standardized tests of HRV allow a quantitative estimation of autonomic nervous system function. Results & Conclusions: 1. The study classed as aspects of the head pain showed the differences in RMS-SD(square root of mean squared difference of successive NN intervals) band, HF(high frequency) band significantly. 2. The male headache patients showed higher all the indicies except heart rate compared to the female patients, significantly in SDNN(standard deviation of NN interval), TP(total Power), HF band. 3. As the patients grow older, SDNN, RMS-SD band was lower and LF(low frequency) band, LF/HF ratio higher significantly. The beginning age lower, SDNN, RMS-SD band was higher significantly. The duration of the disease longer, LF band, LF/HF ratio was higher significantly.
Purpose: In order to enhance the efficiency of respiratory gated 4-dimensional radiation therapy for more regular and stable respiratory period and amplitude, a respiration training system was designed, and its efficacy was evaluated. Materials and Methods: The experiment was designed to measure the difference in respiration regularity following the use of a training system. A total of 11 subjects (9 volunteers and 2 patients) were included in the experiments. Three different breathing signals, including free breathing (free-breathing), guided breathing that followed training software (guided-breathing), and free breathing after the guided-breathing (post guided-breathing), were consecutively recorded in each subject. The peak-to-peak (PTP) period of the breathing signal, standard deviation (SD), peak-amplitude and its SD, area of the one cycle of the breathing wave form, and its root mean square (RMS) were measured and computed. Results: The temporal regularity was significantly improved in guided-breathing since the SD of breathing period reduced (free-breathing 0.568 vs guided-breathing 0.344, p=0.0013). The SD of the breathing period representing the post guided-breathing was also reduced, but the difference was not statistically significant (free-breathing 0.568 vs. guided-breathing 0.512, p=ns). Also the SD of measured amplitude was reduced in guided-breathing (free-breathing 1.317 vs. guided-breathing 1.068, p=0.187), although not significant. This indicated that the tidal volume for each breath was kept more even in guided-breathing compared to free-breathing. There was no change in breathing pattern between free-breathing and guided-breathing. The average area of breathing wave form and its RMS in postguided-breathing, however, was reduced by 7% and 5.9%, respectively. Conclusion: The guided-breathing was more stable and regular than the other forms of breathing data. Therefore, the developed respiratory training system was effective in improving the temporal regularity and maintaining a more even tidal volume.
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to assess the accuracy of provisional restorative resins fabricated using dental three-dimensional (3D) printers. Methods: Provisional restorative resins were fabricated using the first molar of the right mandibular. Three groups comprising a total of 24 samples of such resins were fabricated. The prepared abutment was scanned initially and then designed using a computer-aided design (CAD) software. The conventional subtractive manufacturing system was employed to fabricate the first group of resins, while the second and third groups were fabricated using a digital light processing (DLP) 3D printer and a stereolithography (SLA) 3D printer, respectively. The internal surfaces of the resins were scanned and 3D measurements of the resins were taken to confirm their accuracy. Results: The root-mean-square deviation (RMS±SD) of the accuracy of the resins fabricated using the conventional subtractive manufacturing system, DLP 3D printer, and SLA 3D printer were 68.83±2.22 ㎛, 74.63±6.23 ㎛, and 61.74±4.09 ㎛, respectively. A one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) test showed significant differences between the three groups (p < 0.05). Conclusions: Provisional restorative resins fabricated using DLP and SLA 3D printers demonstrated clinically-acceptable results.
PURPOSE. The purpose of the present study was to compare scanning trueness and precision between an abutment impression and a stone model according to dental computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) evaluation standards. MATERIALS AND METHODS. To evaluate trueness, the abutment impression and stone model were scanned to obtain the first 3-dimensional (3-D) stereolithography (STL) file. Next, the abutment impression or stone model was removed from the scanner and re-fixed on the table; scanning was then repeated so that 11 files were obtained for each scan type. To evaluate precision, the abutment impression or stone model was scanned to obtain the first 3-D STL file. Without moving it, scanning was performed 10 more times, so that 11 files were obtained for each scan type. By superimposing the first scanned STL file onto the other STL files one by one, 10 color-difference maps and reports were obtained; i.e., 10 experimental scans per type. The independent t-test was used to compare root mean square (RMS) data between the groups (${\alpha}=.05$). RESULTS. The $RMS{\pm}SD$ values of scanning trueness of the abutment impression and stone model were $22.4{\pm}4.4$ and $17.4{\pm}3.5{\mu}m$, respectively (P<.012). The $RMS{\pm}SD$ values of scanning precision of the abutment impression and stone model were $16.4{\pm}2.9$ and $14.6{\pm}1.6{\mu}m$, respectively (P=.108). CONCLUSION. There was a significant difference in scanning trueness between the abutment impression and stone model, as evaluated according to dental CAD/CAM standards. However, all scans showed high trueness and precision.
Purpose: The purpose of this in vitro study compared to evaluation of repeatability of scanning abutment tooth stone model and impression applied CAD/CAM ISO standard in dentistry. Methods: To evaluate repeatability of scanning abutment tooth stone model, were repeatedly scanned to obtain 11 data via 3D stereolithography (STL) files. 10 data (STL files) were compared with the first 3D data (STL file), and the error sizes were measured by using 3D superimposing software(n=10). Also, the repeatability of scanning abutment tooth impression was evaluated with the same procedure. Independent t test was performed to evaluate the repeatability of scanning abutment tooth stone model versus impression through root mean square(RMS) and standard deviation(SD)(${\alpha}=0.05$). Results: $RMS{\pm}SD$ with regard to repeatability were $14.7{\pm}2.5{\mu}m$, $17.1{\pm}4.0{\mu}m$, respectively, with scanning abutment tooth stone model and impression(p=0.129). Conclusion: This study results showed a little different repeatability of scanning abutment tooth stone model and impression applied CAD/CAM ISO standard in dentistry, will suggest futures good studies and clinical advantages.

Objectives: Analysis of heart rate variability (HRV) has been used as a measure of cardiac autonomic function. According to the pNN50 statistic, the percentage of differences between successive normal RR intervals (RRI) that exceed 50 ms, has been known to reflect cardiac vagal modulation. Relatively little is known about the validity of pNN50 during general anesthesia (GA). Therefore, we evaluated the correlation of pNN50 with other variables such as HF, RMSSD, SD1 of HRV reflecting the vagal tone, and examined the validity of pNN50 in anesthetized patients. Methods: We assessed changes in RRI, pNN50, root mean square of successive differences of RRI (RMSSD), high frequency (HF) and standard deviation 1 (SD1) of $Poincar{\acute{e}}$ plots after GA using sevoflurane anesthesia. We also calculated the probability distributions for the family of pNNx statistics (x: 2-50 ms). Results: All HRV variables were significantly decreased during GA. HF power was not correlated with pNN50 during GA (r = 0.096, P = 0.392). Less than pNN47 was shown to have a correlation with other variables. Conclusions: These data suggest that pNN50 can not reflect the level of vagal tone during GA.
