The dome and neck part of a vessel is generally formed by a hot spinning process with a seamless tube. However, as studies on and design data from the hot spinning process are insufficient, this process has been performed based on trial and error and the experiences of field engineers. Changes in the inner diameter from the bottom to the top of the neck have occurred mainly because of the characteristics of the hot spinning process due to the high-speed rotation of the rollers. In this study, a theoretical and finite element analysis of the vessel is conducted with different material(Cr-13)-supplemented screw threads for tapping and to reduce shape errors. Based on the results, tne structural safety under the operating conditions is evaluated.

Accelerometers play a key role in the structural assessment. However, the current electric type accelerometers have certain limitations to apply some structures such as heavy cabling labor, installed sea structure and sensitivity to electromagnetic fields. An optical Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) accelerometer has many advantages over conventional electrical sensors since their immunity to electromagnetic interference and their capability to transmit signals over long distance without any additional amplifiers, and there is no corrosion from sea water. In this paper, we have developed a new FBG-based accelerometer. The accelerometer consists of two cantilevered type beams and a mass and two rollers. A bragg grating element is not directly glued to a cantilever to avoid possible non-uniform strain in the element. Instead, the bragg grating element will be attached to rotation part that rolled inducing vertical movement of the mass and support cantilever beams so that the bragg grating element is uniformly tensioned to achieve a constant strain distribution. After manufacturing, we will prove the performance and the natural frequency of the accelerometer through the experiment with a vibration shaker. The FBG-based accelerometer is developed for measuring the vibration not exceeding 50 Hz for the marine and civil structures.
Top tensioned riser (TTR) is often used in a floating oil/gas production system deployed in deep water for oil/gas transport. This study focuses on the extension of the existing numerical code, known as CABLE3D, to allow for static and dynamic simulation of a TTR connected to a floating structure through a tensioner system or buoyancy can, and restrained by riser guides at different elevations. A tensioner system usually consists of three to six cylindrical tensioners. Although the stiffness of individual tensioner is assumed to be linear, the resultant stiffness of a tensioner system may be nonlinear. The vertical friction between a TTR and the hull at its riser guide is neglected assuming rollers are installed there. Near the water surface, a TTR is forced to move horizontally due to the motion of the upper deck of a floating structure as well as related riser guides. The extended CABLE3D is then integrated into a numerical code, known as COUPLE, for the simulation of the dynamic interaction among the hull of a floating structure, such as spar or TLP, its mooring system and riser system under the impact of wind, current and waves. To demonstrate the application of the extended CABLE3D and its integration with COUPLE, the numerical simulation is made for a truss spar under the impact of Hurricane "Ike". The mooring system of the spar consists of nine mooring lines and the riser system consists of six TTRs and two steel catenary risers (SCRs).
Background: Beedi rollers are exposed to unburnt tobacco dust through cutaneous and pharyngeal route and it is extremely harmful to the body since it is carcinogenic in nature and can cause cancer during long exposure. This indicates that occupational exposure to tobacco imposes considerable genotoxicity among beedi workers. Materials and Methods: In the present study, 27 beedi workers and age and sex matched controls were enrolled for clinical, cytogenetics and molecular analysis. Clinical features were recorded. The workers were in the age group of 28-67 years and were workers exposure from 8-60 years. Blood samples were collected from workers and control subjects and lymphocyte cultures were carried out by using standard technique, slides were prepared and 50 metaphases were scored for each sample to find the chromosomal abnormalities. For molecular analysis the genomic DNA was extracted from peripheral blood, to screen the variations in gene, the exon 1 of CYP1A1 gene was amplified by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and then screened with Single Strand Conformation Polymorphism (SSCP) analysis. Results: A statistically significant increase was observed in the frequencies of chromosomal aberrations in exposed groups when compared to the respective controls and variations observed in Exon 1 of CYP1A1(Cytochrome P450, family 1, subfamily A, polypeptide 1) gene. Conclusions: This study shows that, the toxicants present in the beedi that enter into human body causes disturbance to normal state and behavior of the chromosomes which results in reshuffling of hereditary material causing chromosomal aberrations and genomic variations.

In this study, a variety of industrial gears, shafts, chains, rollers, mold, etc. are widely used inautomotive steel carbon steel for machine structural SM45C typical material used for the experiments. In order to cure the surface of the test piece after the rough grinding and fine grinding was performed in order polishing. Perform the surface hardening of SM45C lacal area by using a diode laser. The output of the laser diode and the feed rate to the process variable. Micro-hardness testing, microstructure testing, scanning electron microscope testing(SEM), the heat input to the analysis. After analyzing the experiment to compare the mechanical properties of the material. When using a diode laser to assess the soundness of the surface hardening. Accordingly, the process for deriving the optimum demonstrate the feasibility.
Induction motors are the most commonly used electrical drives because they are rugged, mechanically simple, adaptable to widely different operating conditions, and simple to control. The most common faults in squirrel-cage induction motors are bearing, stator and rotor faults. Surveys conducted by the IEEE and EPRI show that the most common fault in induction motor is bearing failure (${\sim}$40% of failure). Thence, this paper addresses experimental results for diagnosing faults with different rolling element bearing damage via motor current spectral analysis. Rolling element bearings generally consist of two rings, an inner and outer, between which a set of balls or rollers rotate in raceways. We set the experimental test bed to detect the rolling-element bearing misalignment of 3 type induction motors with normal condition bearing system, shaft deflection system by external force and a hole drilled through the outer race of the shaft end bearing of the four pole test motor. This paper takes the initial step of investigating the efficacy of current monitoring for bearing fault detection by incipient bearing failure. The failure modes are reviewed and the characteristics of bearing frequency associated with the physical construction of the bearings are defined. The effects on the stator current spectrum are described and related frequencies are also determined. This is an important result in the formulation of a fault detection scheme that monitors the stator currents. We utilized the FFT, Wavelet analysis and averaging signal pattern by inner product tool to analyze stator current components. The test results clearly illustrate that the stator signature can be used to identify the presence of a bearing fault.
Press machines and dies are commonly used for 3D curved sheet forming. Using conventional die forming can cause economic problems since various modifications of the die shape are required depending on the product shape. Various types of flexible forming such as multi-point dieless forming (MDF), flexible incremental roll forming have been developed to improve the needed process flexibility. Although MDF can reduce the production cost using reconfigurable dies, it still has significant material loss. Drawbacks such as wrinkling, dimpling, and forming errors can also occur despite continuous investigations to mitigate these defects. A novel sheet forming process for 3D curved surfaces, a flexibly-reconfigurable roll forming (FRRF), has been recently proposed to overcome the economic and technical limitations of current practice. FRRF has no limitation on blank size in the longitudinal direction, and also minimizes or eliminates forming defects such as wrinkling and dimpling. Feasibility studies of FRRF have been conducted using FE simulations for multi-curved shapes and various sheet thicknesses. Therefore, the fabrication of a FRRF apparatus is required for any follow-up studies. In the current study, experiments with reconfigurable rollers were conducted using a simple design pre-FRRF apparatus prior to fabricating the full size FRRF apparatus. There are three candidates for the reconfigurable roller: a bar-type shaft, a flexible shaft, a ground flexible shaft. Among these candidates, the suitable reconfigurable roller for FRRF is determined through various forming tests.
The number of covered carts selling snack foods along the streets are increasing in Korea and people enjoy eating foods at these carts. However there are only a few reports on the contamination or sanitary condition of the food carts. This study was performed to investigate the sanitary condition of food and water at the street food carts in the eight major areas of a city. Water and several kinds of food, kimbop(laver rollers) ddeokbokki(stir fried rice cake in hot pepper paste) oemuk(fish cakes) fish cake soup, and soy sauce were collected from four street carts from each of the 8 areas from June to August in 2001 The standard plate counts(SPCs) and coliform groups were examined according to the Food Code of Korea. The nufitness rates of SPCs of the samples were 0~15.6%: 15.6% in kimbop:6.3% in fish cake soup; and 3.1% in water samples SPCs were not detected in some samples. of ddeokbokki, oemuk and soy sauce. The unfitness rates of coliform groups were 0~62.5%; 46.9% in kimbop; 6.3% in ddeokbokki,;22.9% in oemuk 62.5% in fish cake soup; and 3.1% in soy sauce. Coliform groups were not detected in water sample The numbers and unfitness rates of SPCs and coliform groups showed increasing tendencies over time within a day. The higher the air temperature was the more increase of bacteriological growth was observed These results indicate that the level of bacteriological contamination of foods and water in the street carts should be monitored and strict inspection is necessary. There should be legal consequences for serving contaminated food to the public.
Gold functionalized graphene oxide (GOAu) nanoparticles were reinforced in acrylonitrile-butadiene rubbers (NBR) via solution and melt mixing methods. The synthesized NBR-GOAu nanocomposites have shown significant improvements in their rate of curing, mechanical strength, thermal stability and electrical properties. The homogeneous dispersion of GOAu nanoparticles in NBR has been considered responsible for the enhanced thermal conductivity, thermal stability, and mechanical properties of NBR nanocomposites. In addition, the NBR-GOAu nanocomposites were able to show a decreasing trend in their dielectric constant (${\varepsilon}^{\prime}$) and electrical resistance on straining within a range of 10-70%. The decreasing trend in ${\varepsilon}^{\prime}$ is attributed to the decrease in electrode and interfacial polarization on straining the nanocomposites. The decreasing trend in electrical resistance in the nanocomposites is likely due to the attachment of Au nanoparticles to the surface of GO sheets which act as electrical interconnects. The Au nanoparticles have been proposed to function as ball rollers in-between GO nanosheets to improve their sliding on each other and to improve contacts with neighboring GO nanosheets, especially on straining the nanocomposites. The NBR-GOAu nanocomposites have exhibited piezoelectric gauge factor (${GF_{\varepsilon}}^{\prime}$) of ~0.5, and piezo-resistive gauge factor ($GF_R$) of ~0.9 which clearly indicated that GOAu reinforced NBR nanocomposites are potentially useful in fabrication of structural, high temperature responsive, and stretchable strain-sensitive sensors.
The cage of a tapered roller bearing keeps the gap between the rollers, which prevents friction, wear and suppresses heating. The material of the cage is changing from metal to plastic for lightening the weight. If the cage is severely deformed due to resonance, the roller may not be able to roll and even get off the cage. In this paper, the dynamic characteristics of the cage is analyzed according to the cage material. Under the assumption that a train runs at the highest speed, frequency harmonics of that speed is calculated, and the comparative analysis is carried out in order to select the optimum thickness of the cage, which is easy to change among the cage design variables for avoiding the resonance.
