트윈롤 주조 후 열간압연된 Mg-0.6wt.%Zn-0.6wt.%Ca 합금 판재의 열처리에 따른 결정립 성장 거동 (Grain Growth Behavior of Heat Treated Mg-0.6wt.%Zn-0.6wt.%Ca Alloy Sheet Manufactured via Twin Roll Casting and Hot Rolling)

  • This study aims to mitigate the microstructural heterogeneity arising from the manufacture of magnesium alloy plates using the twin roll casting (TRC) process. Homogenization was introduced through hot rolling and heat treatment, followed by confirmation of observed changes in the microstructure. Following the TRC process, the hot rolled 2mm plate exhibited a dendritic cast structure tilted in the roll rotation direction, while central segregation were developed. This nonuniform structure and central segregation disappeared upon heat treatment, followed by recrystallization to form uniform and fine grains. Abnormal grain growth (AGG) was observed over the course of heat treatment; grains exhibiting AGG occupied up to 75% of the total area after having held the sample at 400℃ for 64 h. The formation of coarse grains was also observed during heat treatment at 340℃ over a relatively long duration, though the maximum grain size was significantly smaller than that corresponding to the heat treatment at 400℃. AGG in the 400℃ heat treatment occurred because of movement of the grain boundary, which had been fixed prior as a result of the grain boundary fixing effect of the precipitation phase. The re-dissolution of the Ca2Mg5Zn5 precipitated phase over the long duration of the high-temperature annealing process caused the surrounding grains to disappear and regrow.

ARB법에 의한 Cu-Fe-P합금의 초미세결정립 형성 (Formation of Ultrafine Grains in Cu-Fe-P Alloy by Accumulative Roll-Bonding Process)

  • A Cu-Fe-P copper alloy was processed by accumulative roll-bonding (ARB) for ultra grain refinement and high strengthening. Two 1mm thick copper sheets, 30 mm wide and 300 mm long, were first degreased and wire-brushed for sound bonding. The sheets were then stacked on top of each other and roll-bonded by about 50% reduction rolling without lubrication at ambient temperature. The bonded sheet was then cut into two pieces of the same dimensions and the same procedure was repeated for the sheets up to eight cycles. Microstructural evolution of the copper alloy with the number of the ARB cycles was investigated by optical microscopy (OM), transmission electron microscopy(TEM), and electron back scatter diffraction(EBSD). The grain size decreased gradually with the number of ARB cycles, and was reduced to 290 nm after eight cycles. The boundaries above 60% of ultrafine grains formed exhibited high angle boundaries above 15 degrees. In addition, the average misorientation angle of ultrafine grains was 30 degrees.

  • A computer program has been developed for analyzing the two-dimensional unsteady conservation equations for transport phenomena in the ool region of direct rolling with semi-solid metal in order to describe the velocity and temperature, and the solidification process of the semi-solid metal. The energy equations of cooling roll is solved simultaneously with semi-solid metal in order consider heat transfer through the cooling roll. The FDM(finite difference method) and FEM(finite element method) are used in region of pool and roll, respsctively, to reduce computing time and to improve accuracy of calculation. In the present study, influence of solid fraction and casting speed are investigated in a point of view of strip formability with semi-solid metal.

2롤 교정공정에서 인발선재의 선경변화 (Dimensional Change in Drawn Wire Product in the Two Cross-Roll Straightening Process)

  • 상온에서의 2롤 교정공정은 인발선재의 진직도를 향상시키기 위한 가공방법이다. 인발과정에서 생긴 인발선재의 내부 및 외부에 남아 있는 잔류응력은 2롤 교정을 거치면서 변하게 된다. 그에 따라서 인발선재의 선경에도 변화가 생긴다. 인발후 잔류응력이 남아 있는 소재에 대하여 롤사이의 거리(h)와 롤의 교차각도(${\alpha}_u$, ${\alpha}_d$)에 따른 선경변화를 분석하고 최종제품의 잔류응력과 선경변화를 예측하였다. 2롤 교정을 통한 최종제품의 선경변화를 예측해 실험값과 비교 및 검증한 결과 타당한 계산결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 상부롤과 하부롤의 교차각도는 잔류응력과 선경변화에 미치는 영향이 미미하였다. 반면에, 롤사이의 거리(h)는 잔류응력과 선경변화에 영향을 미치는 것을 확인하였다.

Effect of Tio2 particles on the mechanical, bonding properties and microstructural evolution of AA1060/TiO2 composites fabricated by WARB

  • Reinforced aluminum alloy base composites have become increasingly popular for engineering applications, since they usually possess several desirable properties. Recently, Warm Accumulative Roll Bonding (WARB) process has been used as a new novel process to fabricate particle reinforced metal matrix composites. In the present study, TiO2 particles are used as reinforcement in aluminum metal matrix composites fabricated through warm accumulative roll bonding process. Firstly, the raw aluminum alloy 1060 strips with TiO2 as reinforcement particle were roll bonded to four accumulative rolling cycles by preheating for 5 min at 300℃before each cycle. The mechanical and bonding properties of composites have been studied versus different volume contents of TiO2 particles by tensile test, peeling test and vickers micro-hardness test. Moreover, the fracture surface and peeling surface of samples after the tensile test and peeling test have been studied versus different amount of TiO2 volume contents by scanning electron microscopy. The results indicated that the strength and the average vickers micro-hardness of composites improved by increasing the volume content of TiO2 particles and the amount of their elongation and bonding strength decreased significantly.

  • The industrial application of hydroforming has a great potential in saying cost and achieving dimensional accuracy in automotive industry presently. The aim of the following article is to investigate the effect of process parameters on hydroformed part. Firstly, we have to investigate the change of mechanical properties for sheet and pipe material according to various radius/thickness ratio(r/t). The change of mechanical properties affects the yield stress more than the total elongation. Increase of yield stress for pipe has a bad influence on formability of hydroforming. Among the roll-forming process, the sizing process didn't change mechanical properties. The process parameters such as the initial pressure, mandrel shape and friction have seriously influenced on formability of hydroforming. Therefore we need to check formability of given material through the FE analysis in the beginning stage of process design and the predicted hydroforming process parameters ate generally a good starting point for the prototype tryout stage. The results of pretending, hydroforming analysis using FE model are good agreement with experimental results.

  • 선체 외관을 이루는 판부재 중에서 일차곡만을 가진 부품은 피라미드 형의 롤러 굽힘장치를 이용하여 제작한다. 일차곡 부재를 생산하기 위한 공정에서 가장 중요한 작업 변수는 중앙 롤러의 수직변위값이다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 굽힘 현상을 보의 탄소성 굽힘현상으로 모델링하여 해석해를 구하였으며, 엄밀한 역학적 이해를 위하여 유한요소해석법을 이용하여 굽힘현상을 해석하였다. 해석을 통하여 일정한 굽힘 곡률을 얻기 위한 중앙 롤러의 수직변위 값을 계산하였으며, 유한요소해석법은 보 요소와 평면변형율 요소를 이용하여 모델링하고 각각의 경우에 대한 해석을 수행하였으며 이 결과를 해석해와 비교하였다. 계산을 통하여 판에 가해야 할 굽힘곡률과 중앙롤러의 수직변위 사이의 관계를 도출하였으며 일차곡가공의 중요한 작업변수인 중앙롤러의 수직변위와 잔류곡률상의 관계를 수치 데이터로써 정식화 하였다.

  • Strain states of clad sheets consisted of AL3003 and SUS430 were studied by FEM simulation. Main simulation parameters include roll size, reduction, material properties, material temperature, and friction between roll and material (or friction between materials). To investigate the effect of friction on the evolution of strain states, the friction coefficient between roll and material (or fraction coefficients between materials) was varied. Components of strain rate, strain were compared according to the variation of friction coefficients. And strain states during cladding were compared with those induced by simple rolling process.

  • Bulk metallic glass (BMG) strips of $Cu_{54}Ni_6Zr_{22}Ti_{18}$ were produced by warm rolling of the amorphous powder canned with copper. Controlling of temperatures of the rolled sample and rolls was essential for the successive rolling process. Because improper controlling of the sample temperature gave rise to the crystallization of BMG loading to the catastrophic fracture of BMG strips, the temperature of rolls should be properly controlled for achieving successful powder rolling of BMG. The variations of the strain state and temperature in the roll gap was simulated by the finite element method(FEM) using various roll temperatures.

  • The continuing demand for quality products requires better understanding and improved control of the production process. And, in recent year requirements for flatness control in strip rolling have become increasinglysevere because of the control for flatness of cold rolled strip is essential for further down stream processing. Also a speeds of rolling mills to meet productivity requirements puts a demanding requirement on the control of flatness of rolled strip. The demands on a total flatness control system therefore are a measuring and indication system consisting of a measuring roll that is robust, accurate, reliable and require a minimum of maintenance. The critical prt of any control system is the quality of the information being provided by the measurement instrument or device. It is therfore of utmost importance to have an accurate, repeatable and reliable measuring system. So, in this paper, The measuring roll for automatic flatness control system of contact type has been investigated.
