  • Reactive oxygen species are highly reactive oxidant molecules and react with cellular components, causing oxidative damages. These damages may play a significant role in the causation of several chronic diseases. Antioxidative defence systems are present in the body to protect cells from oxidative damages. The first line of defence include dietary antioxidants and enzymes such as superoxide dismutase. Cynanchum wilfordii Hemeseley has been used for centuries as a tonic nutraceutical in China and Korea. • Social Enterprise (SE) has a vital role to play in helping meet some main commitments for Korea-growing economy; supporting stronger communities; closing opportunity gap-together with the developing a vibrant third sector. The Strategy and action plan is intend to grow and develop us of social enterprise business model in Korea. The sustainable strategy and action plan will be useful for Korea's Social enterprise. This paper will suggest that from the sustainable strategy to action plan of social enterprise in Korea.

  • In order to figure out the relationships between structural features and biological activity of the host-specific HC-toxin in maize, structurally related cyclic tetrapeptides, chlamydocin and CYL-2 were isolated, and their biological activities in maize were examined. Biological activities of preparations were determined by root growth inhibition and electrolyte leakage bioassays. Chlamydocin and CYL-2 showed toxicities to maize. However, the toxicities of these compounds were non-specific. Thus, the precise peptide ring structure of HC-toxin apparently does not play an important role in toxicity, while resistance of maize to HC-toxin is based on a precise ring conformation.

  • As wind waves generated in deep water approach nearshore zone, they experience various physical phenomena caused by bathymetric variations, nonlinear interactions among different wave components and interferences with man-made coastal structures. Among these, the bathymetric variations may play a significant role in the change of wave climate. The accurate calculation of reflection and transmission coefficients of incident waves over a bottom topography is indispensible for the proper and economical design of coastal structures. (omitted)

  • In railway structure, long rail causes the increase of stress. Especially, additional stress and displacement are caused by the discontinuity and variations of the stiffness of substructures in the section of bridges. In the other words, binding forces like the connection strengths and friction force between ties and ballasts play the role of resistance forces.(omitted)

  • Shape descriptors play an important role in systems for object recognition, retrieval, registration, and analysis. Seven well-known descriptors including MPEG-7 visual descriptors arebriefly reviewed and a new robust pattern recognition descriptor is proposed. Performance comparison among descriptors are presented. Experiments show that the newly proposed descriptor yields better performance results than Fourier, invariant moment, and edge histogram descriptors.

  • Queueing models are good models for fragments of communication systems and networks, so their investigation is interesting for theory and applications. Theses queues may play an important role for the validation of different decomposition algorithms designed for investigating more general queueing networks. So, in this paper we illustrate that the batch size distribution affects the loss probability, which is the main performance measure of a finite buffer queues.

  • The regulation of gene expression in procaryotes is accomplished primarily at the level of transcription. Initiation of transcription is subject to numerous promoter-specific controls which act to ensure coordinate expression of disparate genes. The kinetics of formation of a functional("open") complex at a promoter, prior to the catalytic steps of RNA chain initiation and elongation, is thought to play a major role in controlling the efficiency of transcription of that promotor, since the subsequent processes of nucleotide binding and phosphodiester bond formation are rapid and are not promoter-specific (Mangel and Chamberlin, 1974 Shimamoto et al., 1981)

  • Fiber reinforced concrete has been used for tunnel lining and rehabilitation of old structures. Recently, structural synthetic fiber was developed to overcome the corrosive properties of steel fibers. Fibers play a role to increase the tensile and cracking resistance of concrete structures. The Post cracking behavior must be clarified to predict cracking resistance of fiber reinforced concrete. The purpose of the present study is to develop a realistic analysis method for post cracking behavior of synthetic fiber reinforced concrete members.

  • A consequence of global trade liberalization is that domestic regulatory policies have become a focal point for efforts to reduce the costs of engaging in cross-border production and exchange. This article discusses the general challenges of reducing trade frictions created by regulatory differences, focusing specifically on the role trade agreements might play in addressing regulatory spillovers. A case is made for a greater focus on plurilateral cooperation under the umbrella of the WTO.
